## What is Kandela?

Kandela reminds you of the birthdays that are already in your phone.

The dates are sitting in your address book. Kandela reads them, and tells you in time.

WHAT IT DOES
• Reads birthdays, anniversaries and days you name yourself, such as name days, straight from your contacts. Nothing to type in twice
• Reminds you the evening before, at a time you choose, while you can still get something
• A home screen widget, so the day itself takes a glance instead of a search
• One tap to call, text or message, with a short greeting ready to send
• Your own notes per person: what you gave last year, what they said
• On newer devices your phone writes the greeting itself. All on the device, not a word goes online
• Feasts that belong to people: Easter, Eid, Nowruz, national days from over 120 countries. You assign them, Kandela remembers
• A backup file for notes, templates and assignments. It stays with you, nothing goes into anyone else’s cloud

IT TIDIES UP YOUR ADDRESS BOOK
Most contacts have no date of birth. Kandela shows you exactly who is missing one, and helps you ask, with a message you send in a single tap. The same for missing photos. Your address book gets better while you use the app.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Kandela has no server and no account. Your contacts never leave your device, nothing is uploaded and nothing is tracked. There are no ads and no affiliate links. What you add goes into the contact itself, where every other app can use it too. Never silently, and never over a value that is already there.

FREE, WITH A COFFEE JAR
No paywall, no subscription, no locked features. If Kandela saves you once, you can buy the developer a coffee, a single purchase, in an amount you choose. After that the app never asks again.

IN 17 LANGUAGES
English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Polish, Slovenian, Turkish, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and Albanian.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-25

• You can mark which contact is you.
• The search in the feast picker stays put while you scroll, and finds a circle by its feasts too.
• The link under your messages leads to a page with both stores.
• The app turns with the device.
• A chosen greeting can be changed before you send it.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-23

Feasts can now be attached to people: Easter, Eid, Nowruz, national days from over 120 countries. Kandela reminds you of them like a birthday and has the right greeting ready. When several people share a day, you write to all of them in one pass.

Also: a button for video calls, a backup file for your notes and assignments, and when a birthday falls on a public holiday the reminder comes a day earlier - while the shops are still open.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-21

New: days you name yourself such as name days, a filter by occasion, and on newer devices your phone can write the greeting for you. Your own templates can now fill in the age and apply to birthdays, anniversaries or both. Plus a new icon and a fresher look: the accent colour now tints the whole surface, and the glass effect comes in three steps.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-09
