### 4/5 — Extremely well designed and good concept

*2022-10-06, version 2.703*

Very nice, engaging and actually packed full of information. Varying gameplay to keep entertained as well. Only issue I had are frequent crashes, making me restart the app but saving my progress thankfully. It does get annoying constantly restarting. However this is a good way to learn kanji

### 4/5 — A little worried

*2020-09-12*

Hey I love this app but I’m a little worried about the security. A lot of Arabic has been showing up in it and I’m not sure why things are in Arabic. I think the language settings are swapped or something because mine is set to English. If you want screenshots I think I can give that to you.
I’ve tried to change it in the settings but I still see nothing except English and hiragana katakana romaji.
Hope I can contact you and wonder if you guys could do something about this. Sorry if this is actually a feature.

### 1/5 — Crash issue

*2020-03-03, version 2.468*

The app started to crash a few seconds after I opened it, and I’ve just only downloaded it 5 minutes ago!

### 3/5 — Please turn off this horrible sound..

*2020-01-03*

Visual is not really appealing and it’s hard to navigate. It’s like they wanted to put too much information for the place they had. I’m glad it had the option to remove the emoji behind the kanji. I don’t see any option to turn off the “special effect” horrible sounds and keep the speeches/pronunciation (maybe there’s one, but it’s really not easy to find). It makes a sound every times you click on a option and for every spaces the kanji moves and For beginners (like me), I think it’s not the best way to learn because you just let the kanjis fall anywhere and they’ll do a word someday. Maybe if I keep at it, I’ll learn some kanjis, but I think it’s almost harder than to learn them by heart because of the time pressure... Some mistakes are found in the French version. Not for me, but a nice idea. Needs to be refined.

### 4/5 — THE BEST KANJI GAME ON THE APPSTORE

*2019-11-22*

In this game, you get to make combinations of kanji characters to form various japanese nouns/verbs/adjectives, which you can study and favorite by pressing the star on its upper right. You can combine kanji radicals and make characters change their meaning to create new words, it’s wonderful.

As a new character/radical begins to fall down, a cute bubble sound shows up and the meaning of the word is read aloud.

No other app i’ve seen for kanji is quite as addictive as this fun, simplistic looking yet surprisingly challenging Tetris-style game. I can’t wait for a sequel to this, like a gradius or Star Soldier type game with spaceship/rocket that must shoot down the correct kanji character/word to succeed.

### 2/5 — The idea is good but...

*2018-05-27, version 2.092*

Well as I was saying, the idea is indeed good. It’s a game that make learning kanji easier. As a guy who is now still studying Japanese for the JLPT N2 goal, I love this game. But the way it was implemented or designed is poorly produced. First is the UI, it’s just ugly. The buttons, layout, and menu, everything is just poorly drawn. It’s like some indie work of some IT college student if you ask me. And about the app, the way it works is somehow buggy. The description of each Kanji appears is way too slow, and the description itself is somehow not enough for someone to memorize it. And the voice that read the kanji is also the problem. The Japanese pronunciation volume is way to low and it goes so fast that I couldn’t hear what the word is, and for English meaning of it, it’s just Ok. Gameplay controls is simple enough, but why isn’t there a way for me to drag or swipe the kanji tiles like tetris? Isn’t it better that way? Oh, and the settings is still got many bugs left, there’re some settings that won’t apply after I turn it on or off. Oh and I got crashed about 2 or 3 times in about 2 hours of playing. (I’m using an iPad Pro 9,7)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-12-27*

On iPad Pro, after startup screen it just shows a blank page and never does anything, completely broken.

### 1/5 — The most annoying app for learning/reviewing kanji out there.

*2022-10-05, version 2.703*

Just in-your-face annoying and the pop-ups won’t let you enjoy the game at all…

### 1/5 — 落ちすぎてほぼ使えません

*2021-01-23, version 2.692*

開始して10秒以内に必ず落ちます。改善をお願いします。

### 1/5 — Crash app everytime i try play game

*2020-09-26, version 2.631*

I have updated ios14 recently. I cant play anymore :)

### 1/5 — não fica 5 seg aberto

*2020-08-18, version 2.541*

baixei e fui testar, logo nas instruções o jogo fecha e mesmo tentando passar rápido pra ver o jogo, ele fecha mesmo assim

eu uso o iphone 7, tenho memória de sobra e meu ios está atualizado

### 1/5 — Tries to make you spend money.

*2020-08-07*

I only played one round. I haven’t even decided if I like it or not, and it won’t let me go any further.

### 1/5 — Problemas no 5s iPhone

*2020-06-12, version 2.515*

Eu amei a ideia do app e gostaria muito de usá-lo mas ele fecha logo no início do jogo. Não consegui combinar um kanji.

Infelizmente vou desinstalar.

### 1/5 — Problema de la app

*2020-06-07, version 2.515*

La aplicación una vez que inicia se cierra a los 10 segundos iniciando el juego. No he podido saber si la app es buena o no. Si pueden arreglar esto, se los agradecería mucho.

### 1/5 — Constant crashes

*2020-04-01*

It crashes all the time on my iPad 4. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Crashes Every Time

*2020-03-05*

That’s all I can say. I open it up, then it freezes on the 6 page tutorial screen that you can’t even disable or it just crashes. That’s it. That’s my entire experience. No idea what the gameplay is like or the education value because it doesn’t work.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Suprising

*2021-06-06*

It’s surprisingly useful. I’ll let you know in advance that you will be utterly confused as soon as you start playing, especially if you don’t know kanji. I know that since I don’t know kanji at all. It does work surprisingly well though. You slowly learn the different kanji and what they mean. It’s also decently entertaining. Even if you’re not trying to learn, it’s the sort of game that you might just end up playing casually if you’re bored and want to be productive. Overall, it’s a pretty good game. It’s relatively fun and a good way to learn kanji if you don’t feel like memorizing everything.

### 5/5 — Like Tetris + Kanji Learning, very clever 😊👍

*2021-02-15*

It’s intuitive and fun way to learn Kanji! 🇨🇳

### 5/5 — Love it.

*2020-06-09*

The game is fun. What’s more - it is linked to the best resource portal Kanshudo.

### 5/5 — So wonderful

*2019-10-19*

This app is great. For someone who is learning Japanese this is a great resource for me! It is so simple, but you can learn so much! The features are amazing! I especially like the story they give for each kanji/radical and all of the settings allow you to play at any level of difficulty, you can exclude words you’ve already learned, you can see only common words, you can pause the game anytime and look at the words you just created, which is what I do, and it really helps with the conceptual ideas of the kanji/radicals beyond just memorizing them. It even shows you how to write the kanji. There is like one ad every so many times you click the little dictionary and it’s fairly short too. The fonts are cool, they remind me of an old arcade game. There are even little images behind the kanji to help you remember them! At first I thought this game would be cheap from the picture (which is my only recommendation, get a new app photo for the store so it looks more appealing, if this game dies out I will be so sad!) but this game is so in depth and helpful and clearly someone put a lot of thought into making it. Thank you so much! Keep it up! Make more things like this!

### 5/5 — Radicales

*2019-02-16, version 2.296*

Muy buena app, mi 先生 me dio la aprobación para alguien con los más básicos conocimientos del japonés pueda captar el kanji

### 5/5 — It has errors

*2018-06-15, version 2.094*

It is a great game though I dont know it kicks me out while Im playing

### 5/5 — I have nothing bad to say.

*2018-05-30*

I’m just glad an app like this exists. You have done a great job here. Keep it up!

### 5/5 — Improve usability

*2018-05-03, version 1.223*

Larger fonts for kana/romanji (hard to read), better colors for kana and improve contrast, particularly on history will be great, no purple background. Excellent app!!! Keep the good work. Being able to see completed kanji on top for a few seconds will be a plus(not only kana).

### 4/5 — <3 but recently buggy

*2026-05-29*

I absolutely love this app. It is so useful for helping me study and keep my kanji recognition skills sharp.

It suddenly stopped working for me after one of the iOS updates. It would only load up to the riot game shield page and then failed to load further. Thank you. Please bring it back!

### 4/5 — Interesting game

*2023-06-04*

I’m actually finding the game really fun. I like learning random kanji and the fact I can guess words based off the context of the said kanji. I just wish I was actually able to use the settings though. I don’t want any romaji, but even with it selected off, I still see romaji. There seems to be some options locked under “while mid game”, but the issue is that the options never open up say if a game ends. I have no complaints about this game other than the fact I can’t customize how I see things.
