That being said, I had my son download it because he needed in my building to take care of my pet when I was gone. Since only one person can use it, it deleted me. I have a vidcom entry service for weekend or after hour deliveries. It’s been calling my son for entry and he’s been ignoring it because it comes up as an unknown number. The app makes the user enter the email and phone number of the resident and reroutes to the phone the app is on. I touch the icon, the app flicks on, and immediately flicks off. The building manager is also unable to get the app on my phone to work. It used to work. Now it does not. The manager called Kastle and had to leave a message. No one ever called him back. Bad app. Bad company. Please make the constant “access to camera is needed” pop up go away. The app does not need to use my camera to unlock doors which I specifically turned off in settings. Never works, always deletes my apartment so I have to redownload the app every other week. You cannot copy and paste phone numbers into this app. You have to manually enter your guest’s phone number digit by digit. Most of the time the app won’t even pick up when someone’s trying to call you from the call box. The mobile access app is unreliable and frequently does not work at all. I’ve been locked out of my own building countless times because the app fails to unlock doors when it should. I’ve contacted support over and over again. Each time, a technician eventually shows up, has no idea how to fix the issue, says they’ll “escalate it”… and then nothing happens. No follow-up, no fix, no communication. The exact same problem keeps happening. This is an access control system. Reliability is the entire point. If I can’t count on it to let me into my own building, it’s a complete failure. Avoid if you have any choice. ### 1/5 — Annoying *2025-12-11, version 3.2.1* Everytime I open the app it shouldn’t tell me I need to give video permission…every single time. WHY would I want delivery services to see my face to gain entry to drop off a delivery? I just need to see theirs. Something basic as this shows the organization doesn’t care about basic logic/UX Design because no other app does this. Without the video feature the app works perfectly but this annoyance ruins it. ### 1/5 — Absolute trash *2025-12-06, version 3.2.1* This app is completely useless. I had been having issues every day for the past 1.5 months. My building can’t figure it out and I don’t know why they would even choose Kastle with the horrible reviews they have. Can access my apartment’s front entrance, gym, and my apartment itself using the app. Occasionally have had some issues with the videocom, but that seems to have gotten better. ### 5/5 — RemoteUnlock is my fav *2019-12-11, version 2.0.1* I am a happy Kastle Resident user and opening locks to my apartment with just a tap helps me a lot. Remote Unlock on the other hand allows me to open locks remotely when needed. Thankyou Kastle ### 4/5 — Overall effective *2025-01-14, version 3.0.5* Seems to overall work okay. About 1/2 of the time it works where I just walk up to the door and it unlocks and 1/2 of the time I have to physically open the app and hold it near the reader (only about 1/4 of those times I had previously force closed the app). A bit annoying but overall effective. I don’t use any of the fancy features I see listed - I don’t think those are an option at our building. ### 4/5 — No as bad as reviews said *2023-10-04* As a maintenance manager at a 300 unit community, we had these systems installed 4-5 months ago. So far so good. The only issue we have had is a fob reader quit operating and an issue with phone numbers being ported with parentheses. It’s already come in handy for opening the garage gate when I forgot my opener. An Apple watch version is on our roadmap. ### 3/5 — Apple Wallet??? *2022-06-19* Sometime, the app will not detect the door or detect wrong door that I'm trying to enter. I struggled to access the door at the gargae trying to get home. but I was stuck becasue the app couldn't detect the door or detected the wrong door. I had no service to ask for help. Also, when this will allow me to unlock the door using Apple Wallet. I need a Apple Wallet so i can open the door without requiring the app to detect the door first to open. Also, Everytime I placed my phone that card/mob/bluetooth reader, my phone will prompt to Apple Wallet thinking I'm about to pay for something and cancelled the kastle app detecting the door. Kastle announced they will be working with Apple to add Apple Wallet on June 8th, 2021 on twitter. Are we there yet? ### 3/5 — Please improve *2021-01-18* The app is very convenient when I have visitors. I do not have to go all the way to my front door to open it them now. I love that. However, it could be better. The lag time from when I click to app to try and open my front door, is longer than it should be. I usually have my phone in my hand which is why reach for the app. but honestly it’s so much easier using my keys when I’m trying to get in my building.
