It was working fine, I loved it. Lately, I can not download tsl files anymore. Can you please help me out? ### 4/5 — Just a bit limited *2025-09-05, version 5.3.5* All the patches are great, but a bit limited. Maybe a few rhythm patches would be great. Keith Richards, Stone Roses, and some C & W, Chet Atkins, and Buddy Holly, for variety. ### 4/5 — Great Idea, Poor Execution *2025-07-13, version 5.3.3* The concept behind Katana Librarian is excellent – a streamlined, intuitive way to manage Boss Katana patches without relying on Boss Tone Studio. Unfortunately, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I’m using a Boss Katana Gen 3 50W and an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so hardware is definitely not the issue. Yet the app is highly unstable, crashing almost every time I try to make any edit. This makes it incredibly frustrating and unreliable, especially when quick adjustments are needed. Considering the app costs $14.99, you’d expect a far more polished and stable product. As it stands, it feels more like an unstable beta than a finished app. With some serious updates and bug fixes, this could be a fantastic tool for Katana users – but right now, it’s hard to recommend. ### 4/5 — Great app with 1 issue *2025-01-05, version 5.0.8* Love the app - so much better than the BOSS app. However in the past few weeks I have not been able to change patch from within a group - I have to go back to the main list. Happens on the app on iPad and iPhone. Pity ### 3/5 — Doesn't support Gen 3 *2024-07-28, version 4.0.1* Take care to read the description carefully: I missed that my Gen 3 amp isn't supported by the app. I can't find any information about whether the app will be upgraded to provide this support. ### 5/5 — Worth every cent *2023-09-10* Geez, not sure why there aren’t any reviews. Yes, this is what you need to connect to the Airstep. This opens up so much functionality on your Katana. I can have a separate patch for every song in a gig, click on the song and presto, I’m good to go. Also opens up a bunch of hidden amp settings. So easy to use. You do need the Airstep or the other Bluetooth adapter to make this work. The upgrade is a necessity but great value. ### 5/5 — Funktioniert tadellos *2023-08-08* Ich habe den Boss Katana nur gekauft, weil es den Katana Librarian für das iPhone gibt. Es ist viel besser den Verstärker per Bluetooth zu bedienen, auch wenn zusätzliche Hardware notwendig ist. With the Katana Librarian app, you can tweak a patch then save it directly to your library. Tone Studio makes you save it to one of the amp channels. Lame! Once you start using this app you’ll never need to use the Tone Studio again. No more laptop. The app does it all as far as I can tell. Nice job! ### 5/5 — Love this app *2023-04-08, version 3.3.2* This is hands down the best way to edit patches on the fly without having to drag a computer around wherever you go. I just connect this to my AIRSTEP and it’s off to the races. If I had one or two requests, I wish there was a way to more cleanly organize patches and edit them without the amp having to be connected. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Soooo Unreliable *2025-08-04, version 5.3.4* I just got this thinking I wouldn’t have to lug around a laptop for changing my patches but soon discovered it constantly hangs and has to be restarted at least if you are doing imports and exports like me. I’m on a new iPad BTW connecting to a MKII 100. It sure would be nice if it only worked!! ### 1/5 — How do I get my money back *2025-03-24, version 5.2.1* I would like to get my money back, this app is not what I thought it would be . Boss tone studio is better ### 1/5 — No usb connection *2024-11-05, version 5.0.5* You have to buy a blu tooth adapter. The cheapest one they suggest is 60.00 and doesn’t have the best rating so who knows if it’s going to work. I wish I had seen that is wouldn’t work with usb. I wouldn’t have bought this app had I known. The app would be worth the price if you didn’t have to spend 60.00 on top of the cost of the app . ### 1/5 — When will new devices finally come *2024-09-17* When will new devices finally be supported? For example, the bass and the Go devices. But unfortunately, there will probably be no further development. It just loads when I press connect. ### 1/5 — Can’t access iPad Pro with usb c adaptor *2024-03-15, version 4.0.1* Have to buy a $ 60 bluetooth adaptor to use. ### 1/5 — The last update is problematic *2023-01-25, version 3.2.3* The version 3.1.4 work fine with my Bluetooth to USB midi Converter (DoreMIDI) after few mount of used. No problems….But the lates version 3.2.3 able to connect only half second. After that. The apps disconnect the amp and Bluetooth on my IPad. I do not know why this developper have deleted this option. Volontary probably!?! Because it’s not yours Converter ? ### 2/5 — Unable to restore purchase *2024-12-17* Version 5.08 does not allow me to restore purchase/license on my phone. Product remains in demo mode although purchased. It should be easy to implement. So i would be able to use it via iPhone with Lightning to USB Adapter. Otherwise it is useless for me as a Katana 50 MK2 User **Developer response:** From the FAQ: Note that USB connections are not supported by the iOS version of Katana Librarian, as Apple puts restrictions on the types of MIDI devices that can connect to iOS over USB. Only class-compliant devices are allowed, and the Katana is not class-compliant. ### 3/5 — Gen 3 Katana 50ex IoS *2024-12-22, version 5.0.8* Slow to change patches on USB connection. Cannot return to librarian when using Bluetooth connection. Many thanks. ### 5/5 — Great product - 1 question. *2024-10-18* I just got a Katana 50 Gen3 and bought this. Great product and opens up the full potential. Question on the virtual GA-FC function. I can’t see how to use it. The footswitch button does nothing even though it has Bank A/B under oneTried a few things but nothing happens. Any suggestions welcome. **Developer response:** The Gen3 amp has an issue where the footswitch MIDI commands are latching. Hopefully they will fix it in a firmware update. ### 5/5 — I’m a blind guitar player. Without this, I would not have bought any boss Katana amp. *2024-10-01, version 5.0.2* This year I recently start playing a lot of electric guitar. I use VoiceOver, a screen reader, for ios, to navigate around for the the different effects. I must say that this is super valuable for me. Without this amp, I would not have understand everything an electric guitar can do. Thank you very much for the developer of this app. This is one of those things that the developer have the heart to include everybody in the product, not only to sell something. The only request I have for this app is for the developer to keep improving this app with the voice over compatibility along the way. Absolute must for Katana owners. ### 5/5 — Game changer *2023-09-25, version 3.5* If you have a Boss Katana amp with the airstep kat footswitch then this is the app for you. Easy to use and once the patches are loaded then everything is touchscreen. No additional wires or usb switches needed it all works with bluetooth. ### 5/5 — Issues with IOS17 *2023-09-21* It’s an amazing app. Specially in combination with Katana 50 mk2. Since IOS17 it disconnects bluetooth permanently while using Airstep. Nevertheless I give 5 stars because I know the developers will fix this soon.
