His books have been our main guide for both Kauai and Maui and basically helped us plan our entire trip. I bought and paid for it. It kept prompting me to click to pay again. I thought maybe it didn’t take the first time. So I paid for it twice. Some of the arrows have commentary and come on as I’m driving and some just don’t. We would go long periods of time and pass many of the points of interest and no commentary. I’ve used other driving apps multiple times and never had this issue. I could not find that app for Kauai from that vendor so I picked this one. I was extremely disappointed. It was more ads than informative. It was a waste of my money. Then the app just stopped working. Restarted my phone. Deleted and re-added the app, still didn’t work. Super disappointed for the second half of the island without the tour. ### 2/5 — Faulty expensive app and no support *2024-02-03* This app was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed it until it stopped working 40 mins in. It insisted I had to purchase to continue, which I had done a week previously, no matter what I tried. Later that night, I deleted the app, reloaded it and this morning it worked perfectly for 30 mins until it didn’t, again. I called the help/support number provided where it was suggested to text the same number as phone messages are less reliable. I left a voicemail and text and 9 hours later I have not received any response. I have lost 2 days use of this $25, non-functioning app and, I am not hopeful for the remainder of my time on Kauai. As I was reading the book, the book said to download the app. Once we got to Kauai, I sampled the app and loved the commentary as we drove around the island. Once the free sample was over, we bought the program and it was well worth it. I highly recommend this app ### 5/5 — Perfect trip companion *2025-04-18* I have to confess, I was pretty skeptical about paying for an app on top of the guide I’d already purchased but I’m so glad I did. The app is flat out amazing. The location tracking works perfectly everywhere on the island (even deep up the 4WD trail he guided us through), the commentary is fun, educational, conversational, and never overbearing or annoying. The feature that allows you to play your own music while the commentary comes in and out was an unexpected plus. The recommendations are great and you could literally spend your entire trip just hopping in the car and following his advice around the island. I kind of what him as my co-pilot back home as I drive around the mainland.
