## What is Kavaná?

Your siddur, prayer times and Jewish calendar, together.

Kavaná brings Jewish prayer and daily Jewish life to your iPhone in a calm, readable space.

READ YOUR SIDDUR
Weekday and Shabbat services in Hebrew, Edot HaMizrach. Open Shacharit, Mincha, Arvit or individual blessings. Hebrew appears on its own by default; turn on the English translation when you want it and adjust the text size. Bundled prayer text works offline.

TIMES FOR YOUR CITY
See local prayer times, candle lighting and Havdalah. Search for your city or choose to allow location access. Set your community's candle-lighting offset and Havdalah custom in Settings.

KEEP THE JEWISH CALENDAR CLOSE
Find holidays, the weekly reading and the dates that matter to you. Save Hebrew birthdays and yahrzeits with yearly reminders in your calendar view.

MAKE ROOM FOR PRAYER
Prayer Mode uses Apple's Screen Time controls to pause the apps you choose. Block for a scheduled prayer window, or keep them paused until you mark that prayer finished. You can also commit to blocking until Havdalah. Screen Time access is optional.

LEARN WITH RAV
Rav is an optional AI learning companion connected to the Kavaná server. Before sending a question, you choose whether to share it with the disclosed AI providers. Answers can be wrong; consult your own rabbi for practical halachah.

Choose English or Español for the interface. Hebrew prayer text stays original, with an optional English translation. No Kavaná account is required. Calendar updates, maps and online features need an internet connection.

Prayer text: Sefaria, Siddur Edot HaMizrach (public domain).

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.9 — 2026-10-22

Smoother siddur, especially during the Amidah. The Tzedakah box uses less battery, shows encouraging messages, celebrates your streak, and United Hatzalah now opens with your amount filled in.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-22

New Tzedakah tab: add a coin each day, build your streak, and donate on the charity's own website when your box is full. Also: expanded prayer transliterations, improved prayer text layout, and updated prayer-time setup.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-19

Automatically selects the seasonal Amidah wording. Corrects the prayer-section title and compass display while reading.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-10-19

Perek Shira and Tikkun HaKlali are now in Siddur > Blessings, with new illustrations. Turn translation and phonetics on or off independently, and choose whether to show prayer instructions. Phonetics clearly indicates when a reading is unavailable. We also simplified the prayer screen and added a feedback email in Settings.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-16

A clearer Today screen puts prayer and Shabbat times at a glance. The Shabbat tab now opens this week's illustrated parashah and its downloadable table reading. We've also refined the siddur and onboarding, with English as the default interface and Spanish available in Settings.

Open the current prayer directly with Siri and Shortcuts. This update also restores the prayer reader’s back navigation, keeps the Tehillim categories in place, and makes the alarm editor more consistent.
