Now when I open an article, the video at the top plays automatically. It always starts with an ad, and if I don’t want to watch the video, I have to wait for the ad to run before I have the option of stopping the video. I haven’t been able to find a way to disable autoplay. I like to keep up on the news, but this is a borderline dealbreaker. If this “feature” doesn’t change, I will likely find a new source for local news. ### 2/5 — New update 3-24-2026 *2026-03-25, version 3.0.2* My iPad just updated the app, I don’t like the new layout with ads sprinkled in between the article. The biggest problem is when I open a news story the video auto plays. This is a problem because I read the news in bed while my wife is sleeping so I don’t want the audio to start playing. Apparently I have some kind of alert or something that I haven’t checked on because the app icon on my phone has a red circle with a number 1 in it. I can’t figure out what I need to see or do to get rid of it. Edit: why so many strange ads about Alzheimer’s? ### 2/5 — You changed your app :-( *2026-02-27, version 3.0.0* The changes make it so you can’t scroll through to see the news and find what is relevant to yourself. You were forced to watch annoying ads, whether you want to or not still debating whether to delete the app entirely. It was nice to be able to find local news. If I wanted all of the advertising I would turn on the tv. ### 1/5 — If it's not broken, don't fix it. *2026-02-27, version 3.0.0* The app was just fine before, so of course they had to go and "upgrade" it with a smaller skinnier font that's almost impossible to read. I've had this app for years. It's getting deleted today. ### 1/5 — Autoplay on ads *2026-02-27, version 3.0.0* Apparently the developers did not take into account that users might want to view news stories but be in an environment where sound from ads that autoplay is not welcome or wanted. The only workaround is to mute your phone before opening the app or a news story. How about stop the ad bs and quit trying to shove it down our throats. You wanna make money off the news get rid of the ads all together and charge 2.99 a month, problem solved🙄🤷‍♂️ ### 1/5 — No way to stop auto play, this is a way to make money off ads we dont want to see or hear. *2026-05-06* App has always been super glitchy, now it auto plays everything it can with no way to shut it off. Wanna open a story and read it quietly well too bad, auto play the ad at ridiculous base volume is all you get. They take so long to load, and they often play continually. I can’t get to the content. And the ads below the content are revolting. They show grotesque images! Please do something about this soon. I legit can’t distinguish between the phishing ads and actual news articles.
