- Browse groups and entries with instant search

Editing & Saving
- Create, edit, and delete entries with built-in password generation
- Autosave with timestamped backups and save-conflict detection
- Entry history, unknown fields, and third-party extensions preserved — no data loss when round-tripping with KeePassXC or other clients
- Read-only mode for shared databases

AutoFill
- AutoFill passwords, passkeys, and TOTP codes in Safari and apps
- QuickType bar suggestions — tap to fill with Face ID
- Save new credentials directly from AutoFill, even when offline

### 5/5 — Sehr schön, hoffentlich bald mit nativer macOS App

*2026-08-16*

### 4/5 — iTunes File Sharing?

*2026-08-02*

I read a couple of pieces online that gave a favorable mention of KeeForge, and decided to try it. I was a little surprised that iTunes/Finder file sharing doesn’t seem to be available. I imported the kdbx file instead, but would prefer the file sharing option. Might it be added at some point? The app looks good.

Update: Thanks for your reply; I’ll check out the iCloud Drive option. I tend to use offline syncing as I prefer to not put my more sensitive files (such as kdbx files) in the cloud, even iCloud.

**Developer response:** Thanks for giving KeeForge a try! Yes iTunes/Finder File Sharing isn't currently enabled yet. It's a reasonable request and I'm looking into adding it for a future update. In the meantime, if you save your .kdbx into iCloud Drive, you should be able to open it directly from there without a separate import. Appreciate the feedback!

Update: that makes sense. I’ve implemented iTunes folder sharing and it should go out at 1.13 release

### 4/5 — Gut

*2026-07-21*

Vielen Dank!

### 5/5 — Sehr gute open source Alternative

*2026-07-14*

### 4/5 — Very good

*2026-05-25*

Really like the speed, UI and dev responsiveness. Wish list:

Sync via WebDAV

**Developer response:** Glad you like it! Will work on WebDAV sync next

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.15.0 — 2026-08-22

Merge instead of choosing a winner

When another device or app changed your database while you were editing, the save prompt now offers Merge Changes. Both sets of edits are combined the way KeePass and KeePassXC do — the newest edit wins per entry, the older one is kept in that entry's history, and deletions and moves carry over. If a merge can't be proven safe, KeeForge tells you why and your existing options remain.

Move entries and groups

Long-press an entry or group and choose Move to Group to file it somewhere else. Moves travel with your database, so your other devices and other KeePass apps see them too.

Choose your encryption

A new Advanced section in the New Database form lets you pick AES-256 or ChaCha20, and how much work it takes to unlock — Balanced, Strong, or Maximum. The default is unchanged.

Also in this release

• KeePass {REF:…} field references now show, copy, and AutoFill the value they point to.
• Quick Launch now works when you have more than one database in the list.
• A cloud or WebDAV database whose server doesn't answer now opens from the cached copy after about ten seconds instead of waiting out the full timeout.
• A layout pass for iPad: editing screens open in the wide column, attachment previews are page-sized with Done and Share, and confirmations appear over the button that raised them.
• Running the iPad app on a Mac, KeeForge's own Settings is reachable again from the app menu (⌘,) and the toolbar.
• Saving into a save conflict no longer leaves the entry editor stuck open behind the prompt.
• Key material spends less time in memory while your database is unlocked.

### 1.14.0 — 2026-08-18

Change your database's master password

Database Details now has a Change Master Key screen for setting a new password and adding, replacing, or removing a key file — no need to move your database to a computer and use another KeePass app. A backup under the old key is kept, and Face ID / Touch ID unlock keeps working without being set up again.

Set up verification codes in KeeForge

While editing an entry, add a one-time code by scanning the service's QR code, pasting an otpauth:// link, or typing the setup key by hand. KeeForge also appears under "Set Up Codes In" in iOS Settings, so a code you set up anywhere on your device can be attached to an existing entry or saved as a new one. Codes are stored the way other KeePass apps read them, so they travel with your database.

Now in Chinese

Full Simplified Chinese (简体中文) and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) translations across the app and the AutoFill extension.

Also in this release

• The password generator's Use Password and Regenerate buttons stay visible on smaller iPhones.
• Fixed a crash on iOS 27 while AutoFill refreshed its suggestions.
• The Recycle Bin now always sits at the top of the group list.
• Fixes to the unlock screen's Face ID / Touch ID button, the Lock button on iPhone, and running the app on a Mac.

### 1.13.1 — 2026-08-16

Emergency fix for cloud upload conflicts.
• "Push pending changes" now explains when a change saved through AutoFill conflicts with the copy in the cloud, and offers to export a copy of the database or discard the pending upload — instead of doing nothing.
• Export Copy: long-press a database (or open Database Details) to save a copy of it to Files under a timestamped name, so you can merge changes with another KeePass app.
• Backups: Database Details now lists the last five backups KeeForge made on this device, and each can be exported to Files.

### 1.13.0 — 2026-08-13

• Copy databases from your computer: KeeForge’s Documents folder now appears in Finder and Windows File Sharing. Drop in a KDBX file to add it, replace it with a newer copy, or restore a deleted file.
• Choose an entry’s icon from the standard KeePass set or the custom icons already stored in your database. Icon changes travel with the database and appear in other KeePass apps.
• Download website icons directly from the icon chooser. KeeForge optimizes and deduplicates downloaded images before storing them in your database.
• Create credentials without leaving a signup page. The AutoFill picker can start a new entry pre-filled with the site’s name, address, and a generated password, then fill it immediately after saving.
• Locking a database now uses a smoother transition back to the database list or unlock screen.

Fixes:
• AutoFill no longer dismisses without filling on passkey-capable sites or after Face ID completes during a presentation transition.
• AutoFill now offers “Show All Credentials” when no matching password or verification-code entries are found.
• Website-icon downloads now work on networks that block QUIC and fail faster when a server cannot be reached.
• Edits made while a cloud save is uploading are no longer lost; the newer changes are included in the save.
• Databases with high Argon2 iteration counts but reasonable memory requirements now open correctly, including Argon2 v1.0 databases. Oversized settings produce clearer guidance.
• AutoFill now explains when a database’s Argon2 memory requirement exceeds the extension’s available memory.

### 1.12.0 — 2026-08-06

• Edit groups: long-press a group to rename it, add tags, pick an icon, write notes, or hide it from Search & AutoFill. Tags on a group carry down to the entries inside it.
• Save new passkeys: when an app or website offers "Add Passkey", KeeForge now stores it in your database in a KeePassXC-compatible format.
• Search results and the tag browser now show which folder each entry lives in.
• KeeForge is now available in French and Spanish.
• Fixes: Face ID / Touch ID auto-unlock no longer fails on the first attempt, OneDrive saves no longer show false conflict alerts, protected custom fields are now masked, plus many AutoFill and reliability improvements.
