### 2/5 — When it works…

*2022-10-24, version 2.0.1*

It’s not bad when it works. Haven’t been able to access or control my vents for over 2 months!

### 1/5 — Bridge broke so I took matters into my own hands

*2022-07-16, version 2.0.1*

The bridge died and wouldn’t connect to the vent. Support wasn’t very supportive and told me I should buy a new one? After their bridge (with no moving parts) broke after just one year? No way will I give them more of my money. But I recently got a zigbee stick and have the vent paired locally with home assistant. Works perfectly now (and I can automate it with HA and/or node red).

### 1/5 — Don’t respond to schedule

*2022-06-11, version 2.0.1*

I can open and close the vents ‘manually’ through the app but none of the automation works, they don’t even respond to a simple schedule. Support doesn’t respond.

### 1/5 — Absolutely unreliable

*2022-06-03, version 2.0.1*

Scheduling never works as it should. Vents don’t load. Never works when you need it to. Complete garbage and no real updates have been made to fix anything

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY

*2022-05-28, version 2.0.1*

They started out so great, but nothing works now. Developer support is non-existent, app hasn’t been updated in over a year. They should make their app and system open-source so the community could keep it alive and functional…especially since there’s no subscription funding the developers and company who keep it updated…. Just a thought…

### 1/5 — Useless product and terrible support

*2022-02-26, version 2.0.1*

This solution simply doesn’t work and the company doesn’t care. Support will string you along for a while with excuses and then ignore you. Best advice STAY AWAY!

### 1/5 — Universally Bad, at its core

*2022-01-26*

I bought their vents for a simple logic command, close a room vent if the temperature in a room is above the set point and the heat is set. I have not seen this system execute this command in any of my rooms since they lost their cloud infrastructure for a month. Do not buy their vents. They should be put out of business. Their engineers have had to look at my system multiple times. All solutions involve an endless cycle of resetting the vents, hub, erasing my account and reinstalling it, deleting and reinstalling rooms, etc. It is a never ending circle, where you get nowhere. Their software, at its core, cannot handle a simple logic command. So, give them a new one. If it does not work, do not buy their vents and do not download their software.

### 1/5 — Used to work well until the acquisition

*2022-01-18, version 2.0.1*

After Keen Home was acquired by connectM they clearly cut costs on their cloud servers and the s only system available for controlling the vents doesn’t work. Get the flair instead.

### 1/5 — Completely disappointed!

*2022-01-15, version 2.0.1*

I am totally disappointed with the app, the support team, and the errors on the most simplest features like resetting a password or now suddenly have all my devices disappear from the app, I won’t purchase anything from keen again!

### 1/5 — Worst smart home product I’ve ever purchased, software is crap.

*2022-01-02*

I’ve owned the keen vents for over a year now and for over a year now I’ve had the batteries pulled out of them. I’m using ecobee thermostat with the ecobee room sensors. Maybe the keen works with their own sensors but they do not work with ecobee. My living room vent always closes itself if the batteries are in. I tried deleting the room readding it. Even if you try to manually open it in the app it closes it. in heater mode it sets to leave it open to 75° and any temperature below that it still closes it. I’ve contacted support before they can never fix it. The hardware is built well I’m actually impressed with the hardware but they should fire their entire software team and start over again. This software is not tested it’s not even an alpha, it doesn’t even kind of work. It is really frustrating that I spent so much money on this crap and after being patient with them hoping that they will get this figured out after over a year they figured out nothing.

### 1/5 — Authentication failed

*2021-08-01, version 2.0.1*

Authentication failed

Can’t log in to the app. Tried “forgot password”, and it does not recognize my email address, which I triple-checked was in fact correct and have been using for a year as my username.

This app is completely unusable garbage. Do not buy Keen products. Do not download this app. Unless you enjoy spending thousands of dollars on “smart” vents that promptly become useless because the app doesn’t work. Alternatively, you could just set your money on fire.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2021-05-20, version 2.0.1*

I am a very heavy user of home automation devices and technology. I have invested substantially in making my home more efficient and the cost savings in energy use have more than justified the initial cost for the products I use. From Hue lights, Ecobee Thermostats, integrated alarm systems, sprinklers, motion sensing light switches and bathroom vents, I have installed and worked with dozens of products. Hands down the Keen vents have been the worst products, application and customer service family, bar none.

In theory the vents are a great idea, balancing your homes temperature in different rooms. But in use I can say I have spent more time, mostly frustrated, with the devices. They either didn’t connect or work properly (which then needed to be exchanged), or an app that is extremely difficult to manipulate without a website portal, or a company and service group that simply read from a manual provided by the headquarters with no real knowledge of the devices or how they integrate with the thermostats.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. You will spend more time (I have for the past three years) trying to get it to work than having a product that is actually working properly. They are also a major energy users and you will replace batteries often. They will constantly lose contact to the hub and repeaters and vents take multiple times connecting and lose connection often. They also do not notify you when the batteries have been depleted putting the onus on you to check every vent, in the app, all the time to find out which is empty, stuck in a closed position or in an open position, negating their effectiveness.

Again in theory they are a great idea and obviously much cheaper than having your AC guy install dampers throughout your duct work. But again you can find dozens of other home automation devices to invest in prior to this.

### 1/5 — Liquidating

*2021-05-08, version 2.0.1*

This company cares more about its new Meli product “keen home pro.” They’ve taken your money from a discontinued product in order to fund their new scam

### 1/5 — Awful

*2021-04-16, version 2.0.1*

Absolutely a waste of money. Product doesn’t work, app is terrible, customer service non existent.

### 1/5 — Very helpful support

*2021-04-03, version 2.0.1*

When ecobee added two-factor authentication, Keen Home app stopped connecting to it. I reported it, and they stayed in constant communication with me, having me test parameters and send results; eventually they identified the authentication issue and resolved it with version 2.0.1.

### 1/5 — Ecobee integration still not fixed.

*2021-04-02, version 2.0.1*

Ecobee integration still not fixed.

### 1/5 — App bugs and connection issues ALL.THE.TIME.

*2021-04-01, version 1.7.1*

I have not been able to use the vents as designed for about 6 months at this point because of problems Keen has been aware of and working on. I wanted to love this. Have 9 keen vents so doing that math well over 1k invested in something that does exactly the same thing as the metal vents I replaced them with. Horrible product, horrible support, horrible experience. Never again.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Uncle to login

*2025-08-14, version 2.0.1*

Totally useless customer support. No response to email pleading.

### 1/5 — Out of Business

*2025-03-23, version 2.0.1*

Keen Home is no more. Can’t sign in to accounts, can’t create accounts, can’t retrieve passwords. Can’t purchase any products. I’m surprised the website is still up.

### 1/5 — Appear to be out of business

*2024-01-07, version 2.0.1*

Support messages returned and can’t log back into app or reset authentication. Vents stuck open. Was good, now replaced with a different solution.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2023-09-11, version 2.0.1*

If you haven’t gotten their vents don’t. It never works!!!

### 1/5 — In theory

*2023-07-17, version 2.0.1*

The hardware can’t stay connected. The vents eat batteries before you get the grate back on. The customer service/help would have been a nice aspect included in the business plan. As it shows the app not updated in 2 years tells you all you need to know. Not a lot on commitment to the project. Don’t get fooled. Not worth a dime of what they cost because they are bricks in the wall.

### 1/5 — Poor Job

*2023-06-04, version 2.0.1*

My email was removed from the system. Contacted CS, but the silence was the answer. Poor job!

### 1/5 — Lack of support

*2022-10-18, version 2.0.1*

If you are not going to support your products, remove it from the App Store.

### 1/5 — Wish it worked all of the time.

*2022-10-07*

I’ve spent countless dollars and many hours on this system and have liked it most of the time. Recently however, the app stopped working and now won’t let me log in. I’ve tried sending support emails but they just bounce back saying it’s not a valid email. Their website is still active but can’t reach anyone for help. I’ve tried resetting my password and it says no account active under my email address. I suppose they’ve gone under and closed up shop.

### 1/5 — Please Update With Fixes

*2022-09-30, version 2.0.1*

I love the smart vents, but all of my vents disappear randomly and nothing I do fixes it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — App Now Works Great

*2020-01-20, version 1.7.1*

Running on iPad Pro/iOS 12.1.4 with eight vents, one hub, two repeaters, and Ecobee 4 thermostat plus five temperature sensors. It’s also working great with my Android device. If you’ve had problems with this app in the past, you might want to update and give it another try.

### 4/5 — Thank you for updating the app!

*2021-04-11, version 2.0.1*

Ecobee integration works again, hopefully this addresses long standing challenges authenticating. I hope they continue updates, would love more advance me control and HomeKit, Siri shortcut compatibility.

### 4/5 — Version 2.0.1 works with ecobee again

*2021-04-02*

Just downloaded the new update and my ecobee now connects again. It has been awhile, so it may be my imagination, but it seems the vents respond quicker to change made in the settings. Hopefully they are back on track, as my system worked pretty well until it didn’t.

### 4/5 — App with many features

*2019-11-05, version 1.7.1*

Considering the number of features this app deals with it’s a great overall interface. The vents themselves are amazingly built. Overall the system logic of when and how often to open and close vents does need some reviewing. Great product support, just very few software updates and almost no new feature intros. Works well for both small and large systems.

### 4/5 — App needs improvement

*2019-01-23*

I revised my review as they updated the app:

The system works well. You can schedule registers to open/close, or they can open/close based upon temperature.

Manual control is a little more challenging and some aspects are a bit confusing. However, they’re making progress. I definitely recommend and I raised my rating from a 2 star to a four.

### 4/5 — Great support and consistent improvements

*2018-07-10*

These vents work for what I need. I have a bonus room that is tough to heat and cool and, along with the Ecobee integration, the Keen Home vents have dramatically improved the comfort in that room. And, they have/are making improvements to the App allowing it to be more stable and functional!

### 4/5 — Great hardware

*2018-07-02*

I am really impressed by the quality of the hardware of these vents. The software has been a bit of a let down. Originally they tried to use an internal temperature sensor to help automatically adjust the vent. This never worked very well and I always wondered how the vent would measure accurate ambient temperature in the room. The sensor placement would be better if it was where the people live. Now the app no longer has this feature. It has a simple schedule for occupancy of the room. I really like how easy this is and wish it was like this from the beginning. If I want automatic adjustments, I’ll buy some of the temperature sensors.

### 3/5 — Not very user friendly app

*2022-06-23, version 2.0.1*

Not very user friendly

### 3/5 — Good idea, but software implementation doesn’t look good

*2018-12-04*

Have the time I manually change “openes” of the vent in the app it ignores it and remains on previous value without letting me know why. It trains me not to trust it.

Low hanging fruit: use same rounding method everywhere in the app. E.g. on the list of rooms it shows “85% open”, while on room details screen it shows 86%.

### 3/5 — Eventually I think the devices will work fine. Very close

*2018-11-10*

I integrated the keen with ecobee. Couple of issues that I see. 1. It works with the Ecobee remote sensors for each room, but it doesn’t utilize the thermostat sensor to control the vents in he same room as the thermostat. 2. What is the Exclamation mark on connected device in the app? 3. Seems to work once I scheduled the occupied room and it go’s through the next cycle. As long you don’t manually touch the controls.... it appears to automate with the ecobee sensors.

I haven’t played enough with the automation and smartthings. I would like to see if the home hits an average home temp then the keen vents open with the ecobee whole house fan starts running with all the ceiling fans executing instead of the A/c kicking on. Especially if the window sensors are open.
