## What is Keke?

Keke is a small town you walk into, not a word list.

Walk into a market, a restaurant, an office, a Tokyo station — tap an object
to hear its word, then speak the line back and hear how the person answers.
You learn a word because you needed it to buy the bread, check into the
room, or ask a colleague to say that again.

PICK THE LANGUAGE YOU'RE LEARNING
The town can be learned in English, Mandarin, or Japanese, and that choice is
separate from the language the app speaks to you in — so a Chinese speaker
can learn English and an English speaker can learn Japanese, each with its
own progress. Every room and every conversation is written in all three.

WANDER, DON'T GRIND
There's no quiz, no streak, no score to protect. Progress is tracked quietly
per room and never locks a scene. Come back for five minutes or fifty — the
town is always there, seen from one fixed corner, gliding between buildings
instead of loading screens.

SPEAK, DON'T TYPE
Say your line out loud and the person in the scene really responds — get
close enough and the conversation moves on; fumble it and they lean in and
repeat themselves, the way a real person would. No microphone? Type instead
— nothing is ever blocked on it.

LISTEN TO TWO PEOPLE WHO AREN'T TALKING TO YOU
Almost every room carries a conversation between two of its own people,
played at speed with no turn of yours in it — a barista and a regular, two
colleagues at a standup. Listen, then take either part yourself. It is the
half of a language a question-and-answer app never practises.

KEEP WHAT YOU LIKED, AND WALK BACK TO IT
Star a word or a line where you meet it. Your shelf isn't a deck of cards:
every row is a door that sails back to the island, opens the building and
stops at the thing itself.

SEND A POSTCARD
Take a picture of exactly what you're looking at, with the sentence under it
and a code that opens the same door on somebody else's phone. Still, or a
short clip of the camera gliding in.

THE FREE TOWN
- A cottage of everyday objects, labelled and spoken
- A school with a classroom, a library, and a lunch counter
- A marketplace where you haggle over bread, fruit, flowers, and pottery
- A restaurant where you order, ask, and pay
- A hotel, floor by floor, from check-in to housekeeping

FIVE PLACES TO GO FURTHER
Commerce Center — a bank, a cinema, a clothing shop, an electronics store, a
burger counter: the vocabulary of everyday errands, in real transactions.

Travel Adventures — a full trip in five stops: check in at the airport, buy a
train ticket, ask for directions, visit a museum, and solve a lost bag or a
missed connection.

The Neighbourhood — not a shop in sight. Being hosted in a kitchen, working
side by side in a workshop, small talk over a garden fence, correcting a
barber mid-cut, describing where it hurts.

The Work Island — the highest-register language in the app: a first morning
at reception, asking a colleague to repeat themselves, a standup, an
interview, a break room, and a café you actually chose to walk to.

Tokyo District — blue hour: a station concourse, a convenience store, a hobby
shop, a game centre, and a small noodle shop with a ticket machine.

ALL-ACCESS
The free Town never expires. All-Access opens the other five islands — 25
more rooms — monthly, yearly, or once and forever:

- Monthly: US$9.99 per month
- Yearly: US$39.99 per year
- Lifetime: US$79.99, a one-time purchase with no renewal

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A
subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before
the end of the current period, and is charged within 24 hours of that end.
Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Prices are in US dollars
and vary by storefront.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-01

Three new islands, and two new ways to hold on to what you learn.

- The Neighbourhood: being hosted, working side by side, small talk over a
fence, correcting a barber, describing a symptom. Not a shop in sight.
- The Work Island: reception on your first morning, a standup, an interview,
a break room, and a café with a terrace.
- Tokyo District at blue hour: a station, a convenience store, a hobby shop,
a game centre, a noodle shop with a ticket machine.
- Almost every room now carries a conversation between two of its own people.
Listen to it, then take either part.
- Keep a word or a line, and tap it to walk straight back to where it stands.
- Send a postcard of what you're looking at — still or moving, with a code
  that opens the same door.
- All-Access is now monthly or yearly as well as a one-time lifetime
purchase. If you already bought the pass, it still covers everything.
