### 1/5 — Ridiculous can’t even give legitimate rating it’s so bad but have to give a minimum of 1 to post.

*2026-04-01*

Can’t even add my license to the app. It won’t stabilize the photo, keeps calling it blurry or not close enough and then once you finally get the front to scan your supposed to flip it over and go through the same mess to get the back to scan and once you think it’s finally scanning it fails and you have to start over only for it to screw up all 3 times and then you get kicked because of the security placed on the app. App is a joke and doesn’t work correctly from the start. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS JOKE OF AN APP! Just put your license or ID in your wallet and put it in your pocket like we’ve done forever instead of dealing with a headache of an app like this is.

### 1/5 — Pathetic dumpster fire

*2026-02-11, version 4.19.3*

This is what happens when government agents with a bloated budget they didn't earn takes over a project they have no business being involved with. This is an example of why government is fundamentally parasitic.

### 1/5 — Camera Sucks

*2026-02-11, version 4.19.3*

it won’t focus on the back of my ID whatsoever, i was excited to be able to add my ID to my phone but im extremely disappointed

### 1/5 — Poorly designed trash

*2026-02-06*

This app is terribly designed doesn’t allow you to zoom at all and forces to use only the main lens. Consistently gives errors or just flat out won’t scan the ID it either gives blurry, to close or, to far messages then just errors out and makes the entire process start over

The “instructions” are timed so you can just skip to scanning when an attempt errors out

Kentucky would be better off supporting apple’s implementation or mobile ids

### 1/5 — This app is a piece of garbage

*2026-02-05, version 4.19.3*

Kentucky needs to go on and let Apple handle this because they at least know how. This app either needs to be scrapped or needs a major rework. I would personally prefer it gets scrapped!

### 1/5 — Don’t take the fall - another KY thing that doesn’t work and

*2026-02-01, version 4.19.3*

Created hype on website and all platforms-100%

Actual functionality- 0%

= Lie - 100%

This is a Joke, waiting for Digital Id and this app is worst , tried 3 different phones, 3 different Id , at-least 3 times each ! of my Household, none of it worked !, seems like they rolled out the app without Testing!!! .. don’t waste your time ! , why can’t you just go with Digital Id with Apple and Android, few states are on it

### 1/5 — Kentucky Failure Again

*2026-02-01, version 4.19.3*

This app is junk, once again KY drops the ball. Face scan is a joke on an IPhone.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-01-30, version 4.19.3*

I tried this and it constantly said blur detected. I tried in several different lighting several different backgrounds. It constantly says blur detected and will not allow me to use Apple to adjust focus. A waste of time.

### 1/5 — Believe all the 1 star reports

*2026-01-30, version 4.19.3*

Yep, typical kentucky app and DMV response.

Ky was supposed to be in the FIRST top 5 for driver license add to apple wallet. FAILED miserably, so this app was born for some strange reason. All it does is cause frustration.
D O N T bother with this major screw up.

### 2/5 — Clunky/Bad Photo

*2026-01-27*

The picture it takes is pretty horrible and there’s no way to change it to something better.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work….at all.

*2026-01-20, version 4.19.3*

First, you get about half a millisecond to take the photo because instead of a button, it just does it for you. So good luck getting one that isn’t blurry. If you can manage that the app simply gives you a failure code that, after talking to half of India, means that my mobile ID credential has been cancelled. How can it be cancelled when I never had it? Making KY look more backwater by the day…

### 1/5 — Cannot take a clear photo

*2026-01-18*

I am really excited about the possibility of using this app, but the app itself seems incapable of taking good photographs of the ID. I tried four different spots in my house, all with good lighting, and was still unable to get a clear enough picture for the app to accept.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-01-17, version 4.19.3*

Face capture is a terrible interface and ultimately failed every time. Was not able to successfully finish the setup after many attempts.

### 1/5 — Horrible camera use in app

*2026-01-14*

I’m using an iPhone 17 Pro max. Every photo that you try to do with only this app will not allow you to focus the camera and is blurry. Front camera or back neither will focus. This app needs a major update. This app is sad and should have NEVER made it out of beta testing in this shape.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work!

*2026-07-01, version 4.20.2*

The camera will not load up so I can even scan the front and back of ID. Please fix it 😭

### 1/5 — TERRIBLE

*2026-06-25, version 4.20.2*

This app needs a lot of work. Not worth the download yet

### 1/5 — Frustrated

*2026-06-21*

I can’t even scan my id. The app asks for access to camera to scan id, I grant access, it gives me a black screen when it’s time to scan. Have deleted it and reinstalled, still no luck. Also not even half priced books will accept it as form of id.

### 1/5 — App won’t load

*2026-06-20*

Insane that when you go to pull up your id it says error the app isn’t loading send a ticket. If these developers knew what they were doing, they would ensure there was a way to self troubleshoot but instead there is this garbage

### 1/5 — Don’t bother….Why does this even exist??

*2026-06-16*

Instead of integrating a digital copy of our KY driver’s license into Apples existing wallet app like many other progressive states are doing Kentucky decides to dump a bunch of tax payer money into developing its own app that nobody uses. Just please integrate the digital id’s into apples wallet app so we can leave our wallets and purses at home.

### 1/5 — A waste

*2026-06-13, version 4.20.2*

Not sure why they thought this was the best option for mobile ID. Kentucky was listed as an early adopter of Apple Wallet ID like 5 years ago. Just do that. This was a complete flop.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-06-13, version 4.20.2*

Hasn’t worked for a month, emailed support. I’ve tried multiple times with my iPhone

### 1/5 — Nothing at KYTC works. Why would this?

*2026-06-11, version 4.20.2*

It just doesn’t even close to usable, let alone helpful

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-06-08, version 4.20.2*

Hello,

At this time, the Mobile ID app is not compatible with the iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max. A fix is in progress, but there is no ETA available yet.

### 1/5 — Badly designed

*2026-05-27, version 4.20.2*

Whoever wrote the code for this needs to be fired, how the hell do you connect dots with your knows? Instructed not to wear glasses but for those with glasses we can’t read the instructions on the screen. Completely useless app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2026-03-10*

It works perfectly it’s kind of boring design but it’s just an identification app. This is official app for my States ID

### 5/5 — Easy

*2026-02-27*

I don’t know why the low raters were experiencing problems. I loaded the app, followed directions and everything is as it should be. Took a couple tries to capture the id and face recognition for verification, but otherwise no issues.

### 5/5 — Used brighter light without direct sunlight and worked great!

*2026-01-31*

It does take a few seconds to transition from demo to action but not bad. Glad to have ID as backup on phone. Hopefully KY will soon be accepted to Apple Wallet.

### 5/5 — Followed instructions and it works

*2026-01-12*

Process was quick and had no issues.

### 5/5 — Works great!!!

*2026-01-11*

Seems like a lot of issues with operator errors on these negative reviews. . Downloaded the app the it worked perfectly with no issues! It’s a great step towards getting in on Apple wallet!

### 4/5 — Solid app, limited usage

*2026-07-09*

I am still waiting for Apple Wallet integration but the actual app itself is pretty solid for what I can do. I'd also be thankful if I had more use cases out in the real world, usage at a store or a bar

### 4/5 — Works

*2026-04-04*

Followed the instructions and was able to register on the first try. Not sure at his point how many businesses or organizations will recognize it but should catch on eventually.

### 4/5 — Nice to Have a Digital ID

*2026-02-02*

I was a little hesitant to download the app based on the reviews, but I thought I would try it anyway and so far so good. I didn’t have any issues during the setup process. My ID scanned fine. The selfie verification process was a little confusing, but got it on the second try. Think of it like the first time you set up Face ID. You have to move your head, not the phone. It will appear blurry on the screen. I am not sure the reason for all the 1 star reviews. I am running the latest OS with a iPhone 17 pro and haven’t had any snags. Only feedback I would have for the BA or Dev team - from a UX/UI standpoint it would be nice to have my birthday on the main screen instead of having to drill down to the profile information. It would save a little time for when I need to verify my age.

### 3/5 — Connecting the dots..

*2026-01-10, version 4.19.3*

It sucks to restart all over with the id capture if dots are failed . Warning Eye Hazard to look at the blur face effect while getting the dots connect.

### 3/5 — Ummmmm

*2026-01-07*

So it’s pretty stupid you can’t add this to your Apple Wallet. Also the app makes you pause for way too long going through the instructions. I thought the app was broke and then finally the button would highlight to continue when scanning the photo and your face. Also this is kind of pointless because you are still required to produce a physical ID for a traffic stop or accident, 99% of the use case this could be used for, you can’t. Dumb.

As far as the app. It’s OK, looks great and it works fine, but maybe adding a counter to continue would let the user know why the button isn’t highlighted would be helpful. Sorry I hate to be a bummer on the first of reviews. But, thanks for the app Kentucky?
