It presents as though it is connected with the dash cam initially recognised and then will not form a connection to allow download, it just times out. The instructions are useless, it is clear that Kenwood know it does not work and are just not prepared to make the effort to sort it out as they state that connections sometimes fail and you should just follow the onscreen prompts. Well good luck! I’m experienced with using WiFi connections and using dash cams and I would Not recommend this product to anyone. We want easy connectivity and the whole product is let down by no connection. UPDATE - There is a bug that Kenwood don’t tell you about and that is this app is incompatible with CarPlay running at the same time. Turn off CarPlay and it will connect. ### 3/5 — App has some Cons, But Works alright for a DRV-A610W *2026-07-29, version 1.2.46* The app Has its pros and cons. Cons: The live view of the cameras and playback indefinitely loads on a black screen. iPhone 15 Pro, IOS 17.0. 80% free storage space. also the app requests bluetooth to be on, but the device also requires a wifi connection to the camera. nowhere does it explain why it wants both a bluetooth and wifi connection i wouldn't mind this if the features worked fully. Pros: The app works well otherwise and load times are decent enough. I can connect to the camera and see the clips its taken and download them to my phone at a reasonable speed. as well as adjust settings on the camera. Overall i am happy with the quality of the camera and somewhat letdown by the app. I hope to see these issues resolved in app updates. I'd also like to see the app remember my device and open to the device list screen and not make me have to choose MKII everytime i boot the app. ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2026-06-09, version 1.2.41* Can’t get a connection and instructions are next to useless ### 1/5 — Can’t connect to dash cam *2026-06-08, version 1.2.41* Like other have complained I can’t connect to dash cam. They kept saying user has done something wrong but no that’s not the case. How on earth your development manage to roll out without even basic testing is beyond my comprehension. And you have to turn off your cellular data underneath the dash cam app. I still have issues working with Kenwood to see if we can work it out. Keep you posted. I did play around with the app before I install the dash cam in my car. Maybe that’s why I think is pretty easy to use. The App was not working due to me having security app, on my Iphone. Once I deleted the security app. The dash cash worked brilliantly and I was able to watch my driving footage. Hooray. Delete the app and put the app Back on your mobile. ### 5/5 — App is much better *2024-07-29, version 1.2.15* Purchased the new DRV-A601 Kenwood dash camera and was momentarily disappointed that it used this same app as the last generation, but when you start the app, you are prompted if you’re using a new or old model. From there, the experience is much better and very easy to use and navigate. There is a helpful tutorial for setting up the camera, updating the unit was easy, changing settings and the settings available were easy. The dash cam itself (DRV-A610) is brilliant and the app compliments it. Easy to use and set up. I can only assume the people who are having difficulty are maybe not following the instructions properly. For the app to connect to the dash cam, you need to be in close proximity to the dash cam and connect to the dash cam wi fi. You can then view the footage and select files to download. Once downloaded you can watch the footage without being connected to the dash cam and then download to your phones gallery. The app shows exactly where your vehicle is at the time of any incident. Personally I highly recommend the dash cam and app! ### 5/5 — Works Just As Advertised *2023-10-09, version 1.2.5* I have an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 17 and I had zero issues downloading and using the app. Like another review said, turn OFF your Cellular and Bluetooth, and turn ON your WiFi. The app lets your watch any videos instantly, plus it lets you save them in the app and to your phone. Took me 60 seconds using the app to find and download my accident video from the camera to my photo album on my phone. The video download takes multiple steps which can be a pain, but we we talking a few extra taps of your finger than might have been necessary. It is pretty simple, straightforward stuff. If you have any issues, the manual can be downloaded online for free. I would rate this app 4.5/5.
