If you turned the switch on in Settings and nothing happened, that was on us: kept could not establish the iCloud connection at all. It was never your iCloud account. It's fixed — just switch sync on again. Also: when kept can no longer read one of its own backup files, it now says so plainly and asks you to keep the file, instead of claiming it isn't a kept backup. Thank you to the people who kept asking. Without those emails this would not have been found. ### 1.1.6 — 2026-08-20 This update puts a real backup in your hands — and brings lost labels back. • Backup: New under Settings › Backup. Your documents together with their whole structure in a single file, saved wherever you choose. kept never sends it anywhere. • Restore: The same button also reads the database backup kept offered you if it ever had to reset its library. Your titles, categories, Spaces and due dates end up back on your documents. • Restoring never deletes anything. Documents you already have are recognized and updated instead of duplicated — including the same document imported separately on an iPhone and an iPad. Thank you to the people who wrote in. Without those emails this would not have been found. ### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-19 Two fixes, both from bug reports. • kept no longer crashes on launch when iCloud Sync can't be activated. Instead of giving up, kept keeps working on-device — your documents stay untouched, and Settings explains why the switch turned itself off. • "Import Document" and "Import Folder" respond reliably again. Under certain conditions they could go quiet for good until the app was restarted. Thanks to the three people who wrote in. Without them I wouldn't have known. ### 1.1.4 — 2026-07-30 More room to cancel. • The cancellation letter generator is now free three times a year — it used to be one letter, ever. • You can always see how many free letters you have left, and when the next one becomes free. Still no subscription, no account, no ads.
