## What is Kept?

Kept is a money tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch built around one idea: an entry should take two taps, not a form.

FAST ENTRY
• The keypad, your categories and the day's total live on one screen
• Type the amount, tap a category — the entry is saved
• Need details? Long-press to open the full form with account, date, note and tags
• Built-in calculator keys for splitting a bill on the spot
• Stays fast even with years of history

CARD PAYMENTS THAT LOG THEMSELVES
• Set up a Wallet automation in Shortcuts once — every Apple Pay purchase arrives in Kept as a pending entry
• Merchant and card are filled in, and the category comes from your last purchase there
• Payments land in the account named like the card, and if you move one, Kept remembers your choice
• A new merchant waits for you to pick a category — no wild guesses
• Confirm in one tap, or edit before confirming

APPLE WATCH, SIRI, CONTROL CENTER
• Quick entry from your wrist, today's and this month's totals for every account
• Complications keep the totals on your watch face
• Entries with a category are confirmed right away, with a few seconds to undo
• “Add expense in Kept” with Siri and Shortcuts
• A new entry button in Control Center

ACCOUNTS AND CURRENCIES
• Card, cash, savings — as many accounts as you need
• Every account keeps its own currency, amounts are entered in that currency
• Exchange rates load automatically; the total balance is converted for you
• Transfers between accounts, even across currencies: the rate fills in an estimate, or enter what actually arrived
• Keep a stash out of your total balance and widgets
• Pin the currencies you watch and convert any pair in the built-in calculator

SEE WHERE MONEY GOES
• Calendar with a total for every day
• History with search, filters by period and account, and sorting
• Category breakdown, cash flow and balance trend: this month, last month, 3 months, a year or any range
• Compare months or weeks on the same days, with pace and a forecast
• Budgets by category or for all spending, with your pace and a daily allowance
• Start the month on payday and choose the first day of the week
• Recurring entries for rent, subscriptions and salary
• Receipt photos attached to any entry

WIDGETS
• Total balance with a button that hides the amount
• Exchange rate for the pair you choose
• Income, expenses and top categories for the month
• Quick entry: tap a category and the app opens ready for the amount
• Lock Screen widgets for balance, rate and the month

YOURS ONLY
• Everything is stored on your iPhone
• Optional iCloud sync between your own devices
• Passcode with Face ID, and the app blurs itself in the app switcher
• No accounts, no ads, no analytics, nothing collected
• Works with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and haptic feedback

IMPORT AND BACKUP
• Import and export CSV, compatible with Spent
• Full backup to a file you control, receipts included — open it straight from Files, Mail or AirDrop
• The app keeps earlier versions of your data before replacing or erasing it
• A gentle reminder when it's been a month since your last backup

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-14

Kept 1.2.1 helps you stay on budget.

• Stash accounts. Leave any account out of the total balance, widget and trend — savings no longer inflate how much you have to spend.
• Better transfers. Sent and received side by side: the rate fills in an estimate, or type what actually arrived. Deleting and Undo restore both accounts.
• Apple Pay payments land in the right account. Without a card name match they go to an account in your main currency, and moving a payment teaches Kept the account for that card.
• Fixed a crash in the Apple Watch app after adding an entry.
• History updates right after an edit, delete or Undo, and transfers show their route.
• An amount typed right before switching accounts is saved in the new account's currency.

• Budget pace. Every budget shows where you should be today, how many days are left and how much you can spend per day — and warns when spending runs ahead of plan.
• All-expenses budget. One switch makes a budget cover every category, including the ones you add later.
• Fair comparison. Months and weeks are compared on the same days — October 1–6 against September 1–6 — and the forecast no longer jumps on rent day.
• The More card compares this month with the same days of the last one and forecasts the total.
• Report presets: this month, last month, 3 months or a year in one tap, step back and forth with arrows. Your choice is remembered.
• Your own month. Start it on payday and pick the first day of the week.
• Card payments from a new merchant wait for you to pick a category instead of getting a guess. Siri and Apple Watch entries without a category do the same.
• Apple Watch entries with a category are confirmed right away, with 4 seconds to undo on the watch.
• A tidier More screen that shows sync, backup, passcode and reminder status at a glance.
• Backups: last backup date, a gentle reminder after 30 days and Save to Files.
• Clear confirmations before merging categories, deleting rules or erasing data — with an honest note about iCloud.
• An undo pill that no longer covers the keypad, haptic feedback and better VoiceOver on the main screen.
• A more compact keypad and lots of small fixes.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-03

Kept 1.0.1 is the biggest update so far.

• Apple Watch. Add an expense right from your wrist, see today's and this month's spending for every account, and keep the totals on your watch face.
• Card payments log themselves. Set up a Wallet automation in Shortcuts once, and every Apple Pay purchase lands in Kept as a pending entry with the merchant and a suggested category. Check it and confirm with a tap. The new How to use Kept screen walks you through the setup and shows what arrived.
• Siri and Shortcuts. Say “Add expense in Kept”, with a category if you like. There is also a new entry button for Control Center.
• Receipts. Attach a photo of the receipt to any entry. Receipts are part of your backups.
• Compare. Put two months or two weeks side by side, with daily pace and a forecast.
• Backups open straight from Files, Mail and AirDrop. Before any replace, Kept keeps an automatic copy — the last 10 are always at hand.
• Scheduled entries stay on their day of the month and pause while the account is archived.
• Faster everywhere: entries appear instantly, reports and history open in a blink, widgets use far less memory.
• Clearer charts, a visible page indicator in onboarding and lots of fixes for iCloud sync, reports and exchange rates.
