### 1/5 — Can’t even connect after update

*2019-01-06, version 3.7*

Nothing like being part of the beta program on team Kessil. Last light I buy from you morons. Absolute bs for this day and age.

### 1/5 — version 3.5 doesn’t work

*2018-02-17, version 3.5*

I have 2 ap700’s. I’ve been running them for 4 months without issue. I just updated the app and can no longer connect to my lights.

### 1/5 — AP700

*2018-02-04, version 3.5*

Terrible, awful... I wish I could return the light. This app crashes every time I try to use it. Poor testing, VERY disappointed!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App need to be updated

*2025-08-06, version 4.2*

Just make one app for all your lights

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-06-05, version 4.2*

Just spent hours trying to connect, got two of three lights connected, the other is just not happening. Every time I exit app (bc it freezes) it looses all saved lamps. Which should have already been saved anyway bc that profile was already programmed. Also the one lamp will only “connect” if you continue to hold buttons, when you let go it looses it. Doesn’t matter though bc it freezes last step and erases it anyway. There are no help videos or anything to help you, and the wifi address gets stuck in the phone so you can’t really start from scratch to try again. Buggy and unhelpful it’s more of a “step by step how to connect “ that doesn’t work past the first few steps. Haven’t even gotten to the actual programming of light cycles yet and I’m ready to chunk it all out a window. This is after an electricity outage so totally uncalled for bc it was all working. The app just doesn’t recognize anything any longer.

### 1/5 — Ap700

*2021-01-10, version 4.2*

The app is horrible worse one out there

### 1/5 — I wish I could give this zero stars

*2020-08-02, version 4.2*

Amazing lights, absolute garbage app. Took all weekend to get both AP700’s connected on my phone. Went to my ipad to load them into the app... won’t connect. Updated... still won’t work. Went back to the phone, lights are gone. Tried to reconnect, will only connect one of them. Beyond frustrating. I’ve literally spent about 8 hours trying to get this to work.

### 1/5 — Awful App

*2020-07-16, version 4.2*

Why so difficult to operate. Great light, awful controller.

### 1/5 — Kessil firmware garbage

*2020-06-24, version 4.2*

Kessil has yet too fix there poor app and firmware on the AP700. They’re on to the next equipment and don’t bother addressing the issues that will undoubtably carry over to the next product.

Poor customer service, horrible firmware, DO NOT BUY. I never write reviews but after spending $1200 on crappy light.....well here I am.

### 1/5 — Such a crappy app for such an expensive light

*2020-06-02, version 4.2*

I love the Kessil lights, their hardware is fantastic! But this app is so horrible. It NEVER finds my light the first try. If I “refresh” or “remap” over and over after about 5 minutes it will eventually find it. But even then the features are lack luster, it’s clunky, feels like it was designed in the 90’s. The only solace here is that iPad app is even worse!!

### 1/5 — Horrible App for such a good light

*2020-04-29, version 4.2*

I don’t write reviews, but this app is so bad that it has forced me to write this one. I probably will not buy another Kessil branded light because of how flaky the control app is.

I do not have confidence that the changes I make to the schedule or intensity will hold. Worse yet, don’t lose power because the app will refuse to sync back with the light. Back up to the cloud, no way, that crap made things worse. Opening the app always asking for location. WTH.

$800 later I so regret buying it.

Now I’ll add that lights should be set it and forget it. I don’t make changes just for the heck of it. But when I’m adjusting light schedules to correct an algae bloom or acclimate new corals it should take 5 minutes not 30 to reset the app and reconnect it to WiFi each time.

### 1/5 — Kessil get it together

*2019-09-29, version 3.7*

The fact the you need the app to control the light to have a schedule drives me crazy. Sometimes my light will randomly just shut off then I have to resync it the app again. For $800 just for the light (AP700) then another 200 for the stand, one would think you’d never have an issue. Stop trying to come out with new things like a WiFi toggle and start focusing on the problems at hand. Saltwater tanks are an expensive hobby, I get that, but with the amount of issues with this app I sometimes regret even getting the ap700

### 1/5 — Never buy 2 Ap700

*2019-03-12, version 3.7*

Unless they fix their crappy wifi and their software. Pretty much your $800 light is nothing, worthless. The only reason why i got into buying 2 AP 700 so itll make my reefing hobby much easier and less stressful. Today Tuesday March 12. I started synching two AP700. But they couldnt have harmony. The stupid wifi doesnt even show up on my internet.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works just fine

*2018-03-01, version 3.6*

I honestly haven’t experienced any of the issues others have mentioned. I have three lights connected to the app and it syncs every single time without issues. Then again maybe I use the app twice a month.

Highly recommended

### 5/5 — Best LED on market finally has app to match

*2018-02-05, version 3.5*

They finally seemed to fix the quirkiness of the iOS app. The light has been a slight compromise because the earlier versions of the app were not reliable but the light is so good it was forgiveable. Everything seems to be fixed now!

### 4/5 — Underrated

*2017-02-21, version 3.2 ( Beta )*

Though the app isn't incredibly easy to use, and lacks some features, it isn't actually that hard to use. Just think through what you want to do logically and do it. It doesn't need to be simple enough for a child to use. As for the AP700 itself, it is a phenomenal light.

### 2/5 — Bad settings.

*2022-01-04, version 4.2*

I notice that on the other lights people can control things like red, blue, white, etc and we just have a color wheel with red and green. it’s kind of irritating and i can’t be precise with the settings like i can with much cheaper lights.

### 2/5 — App needs to be updated

*2018-11-01, version 3.6*

I’ve been using it for a few months now. If you create your own programming. The lights will flash off during the day and turn on by themselves in the middle of the night. I would’ve thought you could control them from anywhere besides within your own WiFi. Needs more control of lighting options and moonlights are way too bright.

### 2/5 — Awesome light, horrible app

*2018-02-24, version 3.5*

A lot of times the app doesn’t connect to my light.

### 2/5 — This App Isn't Intuitive And is Hard To Use

*2016-11-02, version 3.2 ( Beta )*

From Using My Aqua Illumination Ai Prime Hds For The Last Few Months and Switching To The Kessil Ap700 For My New Tank I would've Figured To Have As Much Individual Channel Control And Ease Of Use As I Had With My Much Less Expensive Lights..... Nope Its Way Too Hard To Set Ramp Up And Down, Custom Programs And Color Settings! Kessil Can Definitely Take A Few Hints From The Ai Prime Hd Software And Make It Much Easier To Set Everything Including How Lunar And Storms Work..... Highly Disappointed at This Point.....

P.S. Why Cant You Edit A Program Point After its Made and Why is it limited to only 10 Program Points

P.S.S. Why cant You Program in a lunar cycle and have "Random probability" of A thunder storm set for certain hours of the day Instead of Just On or Actually edit a program after choosing to have The lunar cycle or another effect set?
