### 2/5 — Ok

*2026-07-02, version 1.3.5*

The app is slow, clunky and disorganized. Shame, for such a great product the app is stuck in 1990

### 2/5 — Crash

*2025-10-04, version 1.3.3*

Restart, restart, restart…..over and over again. The only way to see the day is through the app, the app keeps crashing or not starting at all.

This keeps me from adding to my sensors and has made me start looking elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Continually Crashes

*2025-06-24, version 1.3.2*

Have to check WBGT for multiple surfaces at practices. Spent extra on the Link version hoping to not have to walk out to the FB field every time I need a reading. App continually crashes on both iPhone and iPad, making the Link version useless.

### 2/5 — Clunky app, hobbles good hardware

*2023-05-15, version 1.2.37*

App needs more work. My drip never seems to connect automatically, and most times I have to sync the logs manually. Even though I’m in the same house as the drop all the time, usually the same room (it hangs under a crib), I always need to reconnect.
A watch complication would be nice with a reading and time since last update. Then at a glance I could see temp of the drop and that it’s been, say, 4m since the last update.

I’ve also experienced an issue where I open the app and all my data is gone, it was like opening the app for the first time, that was super frustrating the first time it happened. It’s happened again, I’m tempted to blame the fact that I’m on beta software for the problem, but not sure why that would cause the issue in their app.

### 3/5 — A slight improvement over the original app

*2022-12-22, version 1.2.29*

This app which supports the Kestrel Drop, a solid albeit imperfect product, is an improvement over its predecessor as it provides a look back at calendar day readings. I could be wrong but one thing I do not see that it’s predecessor had was the ability to manually reset the log so one could get the high and low readings for a specific time period, for my purposes, a calendar month. If this is in fact the case, it represents a major shortcoming in my opinion.

### 3/5 — Apple Watch, Please!

*2022-10-07, version 1.2.12*

Please make the app compatible with Apple Watch! Thank you!

### 1/5 — Logging doesn’t work anymore

*2022-09-13, version 1.2.12*

Can’t retrieve the log after the latest update. At least just revert back to the previous version while fixing the issue. The only workaround I’ve figured out is to delete the app and reinstall it. This has to be done every time you want to retrieve the log.

### 2/5 — New app doesn’t compare to the legacy app

*2022-08-12, version 1.2.12*

If you can, stick with the legacy app. The new app required updated firmware on the drop devices. Updating the firmware bricked the devices. Company did replace the devices for us, but the app still falls short of what the legacy app could do.

### 1/5 — Jonny

*2022-02-16, version 1.1.93*

When trying to view data history app constantly crashes. Got in touch with customer support who were very little help. Told me to delete the app and reinstall which hasn’t worked. I’m not sure what the point is of paying the extra money for the link version when the app doesn’t work. Must be time for the app to be updated?????

### 1/5 — No updates, still awful

*2021-12-02, version 1.1.86*

This has to rank as the worst IOS app ever created. I have found even more fatal bugs than since my last posting. Despite Kestrel’s response that they are constantly updating the app, it hasn’t happened. DON’T WATE YOUR MONEY ON THEIR PRODUCTS. Each successive generation skids downhill further.

### 1/5 — Latest version doesn’t export

*2021-11-25, version 1.1.86*

Previous versions of this app allowed data to be exported as cvs. The latest version had lost this feature rendering the whole thing a useless piece of junk as far as I am concerned. Contacted support still waiting for response. Last time I reported a bug they denied it didn’t work, and bug has not been fixed. Hardware is ok, app not.

### 1/5 — App Keeps Crashing

*2025-06-19, version 1.3.2*

I noticed right after the new update about seven hours ago my chin will connect, but once it loads the data, the app keeps crashing. Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Constant crashes.

*2024-10-02, version 1.2.48*

App won’t even open. Constant crash.

### 1/5 — Fix the app, again

*2024-08-06, version 1.2.47*

App crashes before opening. This is the second time I’ve been locked out of being able to get my data. The first time was with the legacy app and it was over 6 months wait until it was fixed. This one has been several months in waiting now.

### 1/5 — App crashing on iphone 8+ from dec.2023-on

*2024-02-14*

As title says. App is crashing 100% of times as at least from december 2023 so far.

### 1/5 — They broke it

*2023-12-08*

The app was buggy to start with. Now with the update, it won’t log at all. My Drop is now useless since the only way to use it is through the app. I wasted my money. NOT HAPPY ! !

**Developer response:** Sorry we are working to fix what got broken. We apologize for the inconvenience.

### 1/5 — Update broke the app

*2023-12-07, version 1.2.44*

The latest update 12/7/23 causes the app to freeze and crash

### 1/5 — Needs more work

*2023-10-23, version 1.2.37*

This app is extremely buggy. It crashes while downloading data, it randomly stops downloading, says it has never downloaded data then does, says it has downloaded complete to a certain date when in fact it hasn’t. I use about 100 of these sensors for environmental research and I experience problems with them about 80% of the time. Absolutely would not recommend the DROP product.

### 1/5 — Useless for DROP models

*2022-12-02, version 1.2.27*

Neither of my two D3 loggers will stay connected. They connect, tell me to update my firmware to use the app in settings and then they disconnect, which prevents me from updating the firmware.

### 1/5 — Last update

*2022-10-09, version 1.2.12*

If the app is not open, the drop2 doesn’t create a data log point. Totally stopped logging data since last update. Manually sync doesn’t download anything. * After weeks of test I think I got the problem. When the auto sync switch is on it doesn’t record. I turned of the auto sync and now I can sync manually. Otherwise no data is recorded.

### 1/5 — Terrible!!

*2022-09-26, version 1.2.12*

I have the drop1. It USED to be brilliant, so simple to use - switch it on and then be able to the choose what times/dates to veiw the temperature on a graph.

Not used it for a few years, installed the new app today and downloaded the firmware updates onto the device.

The app is now completely over engineered and complicated. Too many settings which dont save anyway. The instructions in the app point you to another set of instructions.. (its just a thermometer for heavans sake!!) and even the automatic logging has missed several hours today. Over complicated for the sake of being over complicated. (15 years experienced IT engineer BTW).

### 5/5 — APP IS CRASHING

*2025-09-16*

App crashes when open for a little while

### 5/5 — Fixed the app!

*2025-06-26, version 1.3.3*

I really appreciate that they had a quick fix to the app being broken.

Other than the recent hiccup, this app has worked great for me and I find a very helpful addition to the value of the device overall

### 5/5 — Absolutely works on 2022 M2 MBP

*2024-03-02, version 1.2.47*

This app may not be configured to work on a MBP but it has for more than a year for me. You just need to remember that you must verify that the settings that you want the download data to reflect MUST in the Kestrel unit BEFORE syncing.

### 5/5 — They broke it and fixed it!

*2023-12-29, version 1.2.46*

The app was buggy to start with. Now with the update, it won’t log at all. My Drop is now useless since the only way to use it is through the app. I wasted my money. NOT HAPPY ! !

Good work! This is a follow up to my earlier review. The new revision fixed my logging problem. Gave you five stars for excellent customer support!

### 5/5 — Awesome!!!

*2022-01-18, version 1.1.93*

What an improvement! This app excells in all aspects. Thank you Kestrel.

### 5/5 — works perfectly fine

*2022-01-18, version 1.1.93*

just got my Kestrel D3 (the one that gives WBGT reading) and downloaded the app. App seems to work perfectly fine. Connects quickly from a fair distance, gives me all the data… easy peasy. Really like these devices. Pretty amazing tech. I got it to monitor conditions where I live after giving myself a case of heat exhaustion working in my yard in the evening when it was 95F with 80% humidity. This device lets me know when it’s a good idea to skip the yard work.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2021-10-14, version 1.1.57*

Love this app. Easy to navigate and track fire weather. I like being able to share the weather logged easily with the other fire crews.

### 5/5 — Goated

*2021-09-09, version 1.1.57*

It’s goated so good omg love

### 4/5 — Easy & Handy

*2022-02-16, version 1.1.93*

Works great with my Drop D3. Only issue is that it ALWAYS shows the battery as almost dead. Would be great if it showed accurate battery level.

### 3/5 — APP NOT WORKING RIGHT

*2025-12-14, version 1.3.3*

App keeps crashing at times
