### 2/5 — App very buggy

*2021-11-26, version 2.0.4*

I like the app and the way it works but its so buggy. I would say every 3rd time I use it I have to reboot my phone. The circular meter starts doing circles like some crazy roulette wheel and the only way to get it back to normal is to reboot my phone. As you can imagine this is very annoying! Hopefully they will have an upgrade to fix this in the future.

### 1/5 — Absolute crap

*2020-02-14, version 1.1.0*

This app is junk, the update was pointless and now does not save any data, gives an index.html error. The £200 device is rendered worthless by not having an app developer who actually knows what they are doing. Shocking!

### 1/5 — Expensive and not worth it

*2019-10-31, version 1.1.0*

Think twice before you you purchase this product !! When it works it’s great . The app is horrible they did a update now my meter will not connect . Better off to you a blood meter and pay for strips than buy a 300 dollar meter that doesn’t work !!!

### 1/5 — Help Please! Bad Experience! Don’t recommend!!!

*2019-09-16, version 1.0.31*

The hardware looks nice but doesn’t function! The app is awful and won’t let me create a new profile to use. Instead you have to use the default. The device connects and says its ready. But doesn’t measure anything. This is an expensive device, the app should be stellar and the hardware should work. I will be returning this if I don’t get a response with help and if the app is not improved immediately!

### 1/5 — Hire someone/someone else to build your app

*2019-09-14, version 1.0.31*

What a pointless update. All previous problems still there, only a WiFi icon from the 90’s now on the connection page. I’m done wasting my time with this app, the amount you charge for the unit and you cannot hire someone reasonable to build the app? What a joke.

### 2/5 — Why are updates paid in-app subscription?

*2019-08-30, version 1.0.30*

So I pay AUD$330 for the Ketonix hardware device, and then, to get future app updates, I have to pay a further $2.99 per month?

In August 2019 the app shows as last being updated over 1 year. So anyone who subscribed have paid at least $36 for nothing other than additional analysis tools that should be free, considering the initial outlay for the hardware device costing hundreds of dollars.

I have many, much cheaper IoT devices that interface via phone apps and never have any of them asked for extra in app purchases to unlock features, let alone a rolling monthly subscription fee.

App itself seems ok so far. Better export data would be nice. But can live without.

### 1/5 — Poorly done

*2019-08-24, version 1.0.30*

Hardware is great, but the app will not hook up to the hardware, nor are there any instructions for the app. Little for the hardware.
  It’s a guessing game.
I agree, have instructions, but although I have read & reread the instructions; the app refuses to hook up to the app.
Have decided just to go with the basic information of color to know if I am in Ketosis or not.
It’s a shame the app is so poorly done.

### 2/5 — Hardware seems to work fine, app is poor

*2019-06-12, version 1.0.30*

The app is only functional for actual measurement, and at least in that regards seems reasonable.

The other functions of the app such as graphing, saving, comparing/analyzing do not seem to work at all for me. Having the data day or week to week comparisons working properly would be highly useful.

For the basic function of determining whether not you are in ketosis you just get a color coded numeric answer, but there’s no overall interpretation so it takes some amount of digging in documentation to determine how to interpret the measurement.

Please take the time to update the app to meet the standards of the good hardware you produced!

### 1/5 — Graphs no longer work...

*2019-03-25, version 1.0.30*

Tried their support app, and the bot told me they didn’t know how to fix that, and that they would ask their manager. I haven’t heard anything back from them...prior to the graphs disappearing I thought the app was pretty awesome...

### 2/5 — Sloppy app for a good piece of hardware.

*2019-01-29, version 1.0.30*

The hardware for Ketonix breath analyzer is pretty decent. It has a little bit of a learning curve, and needs time to warm up but overall it’s a solid way to measure ketosis. The app however is very sloppy and appears to have had little effort in its design. The device connects well with the app and measures well, but the worst part of the app is it’s analysis tab. Virtually all features within that tab appear to have no function nor is there any explanation how they should be used. You can plot your readings within specific date ranges, unfortunately it does not display informative time markers for the readings on the X axis. It just shows “12pm” multiple times across the axis label. Three trend lines can be displayed. The first is the actual levels displayed in a blue line, then there is a linear trend line shown in green, and then a third ambiguous curvilinear trend line listed as “MAV” in pink. There is no explanation as to what this is nor does there appear to be any explanation of it on the website. The app will give you the info you need to know but it’s very crude.

### 2/5 — Software needs a major update

*2018-11-20, version 1.0.30*

It feela outdate and laggy

### 2/5 — Please update to full screen

*2018-10-24, version 1.0.30*

Please update your app to full screen edge to edge like most of the other apps now. Just waisted screen now.

### 1/5 — Why charge a monthly fee to see data that’s already been paid for?

*2018-05-26, version 1.0.30*

The device works well and although it’s slow, it’s cool. It’s very disappointing to have you limit the full functionality of the app 45 days or so in. This is an expensive device and there shouldn’t be hidden fees added after purchase. I won’t recommend this product.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Both app and device are a waste of money

*2025-01-15, version 2.0.21*

The app doesn’t work well. It’s hard to understand how to use it and it doesn’t give accurate readings. The device is expensive and you can tell they don’t develop this product. The app has had zero updates in over two years.

### 1/5 — Such a shame.

*2023-12-21, version 2.0.21*

I think the machine itself works well. I hope. But the app is so frustrating. Every time I go to use it, I have to turn my entire phone off and back on again and then start the app all over again for it to read the meter. Sometimes it stops in mid read. I want to keep the machine and not send it back because I like doing the breath rather than poking my fingers but unless they improve the app, it really makes it useless or very difficult and it shouldn’t be this hard. Seems like nobody is really monitoring the ratings on the app or what anybody is saying.

### 1/5 — Bad customer support

*2023-01-08, version 2.0.12*

I bought the Ketonix professional. The app won’t open the additional features I paid for. I contacted Ketonix and they told me that it’s already working (????). No it isn’t sorry. That’s a waste of at least 60$. Their customer support leaves something to be desired. At least I can still measure ketones.

### 1/5 — Why round input data!?

*2022-10-17, version 2.0.11*

One of the best features of the original version of the app was the ability to input body fat and weight measurements, etc with decimal points.

Now they are being rounded!!!

Given that the signals for body fat measurement and weight can be noisy unnecessary rounding affects the trend analysis even more.

Please bring back full precision on your app and database!!!!

### 1/5 — Functional (but room for improvement)

*2022-07-01, version 2.0.8*

Most recent update: I’m curious as to the purpose of the “low carb diet” Check box on the measure screen. If I don’t check it all readings are zero (ie. It doesn’t measure anything, I even tried it with pure acetone vapour, still zero). Also if I do check it I seem to get much higher readings than I would have with the previous version. I’m now questioning the results.

### 1/5 — Not usable

*2021-07-13, version 2.0.4*

Wow. I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing. Spent $100 for an app that is basically unusable.

I was able to get this to display some data from a reading, but I have 0 confidence that it means anything reliable.

There are no obvious units, measurements are highly erratic and change by a factor of 2 in back to back measurements. It says ppm in one place, but that measurement doesn’t match with the chart which is unit-less.

There is no way to view saved data after 7-days. The app is full of greyed out buttons. Such as the “custom” button on the analysis tab that looks like it might show past data but instead does nothing. There is no place to perhaps upgrade the setting or something.

This app is a prototype at best for proof of concept only. Not for use by a paying customer.

I’m a scientist and am accustomed to using technical equipment, so I am willing to deal with somewhat inscrutable equipment, but this doesn’t even allow me to get to the point of useful data in the first place.

### 1/5 — Pay for hardware get lame app

*2021-03-11, version 2.0.3*

Wish I would have known I needed this app to make the hardware work. More accurately, I wish the app functioned better than a grade school coding project. Takes 5-10 minutes to connect, gives lousy interpretation of ketosis readings. Reverted back to peeing on a stick. The whole point in investing $100+ was to get precise readings to be able to know the immediate effects of specific changes in diet and exercise, that’s what the site sold me on when I bought the hardware. Disappointed, save your money, or maybe the company will eventually take some of the revenue and invest it in a high school kid to recode the app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect to either desktop or iPhone Bluetooth

*2021-03-01, version 2.0.3*

Worthless. I have a brand new desktop and a brand new iPhone so I know nothings wrong with either of those. Both devices say the Bluetooth is turned on. But this key tonics device will not connect via Bluetooth to either one of them. So I can’t use the app. If I want to measure my key tones, I have to sit at my desk top computer and plug it in with the USB. Saving measurements to my profile takes at least a good five minutes, and I can’t find anywhere that tells me what the readings mean. The instructional videos are a joke.

### 1/5 — I don’t recommend the latest version.

*2020-08-05, version 2.0.3*

Please let me uninstall and get the previous version back. If you measure in low Ketosis you won’t get the result in this version. It’s almost as if the scale changed.

### 1/5 — Great hardware poor software

*2020-03-07, version 1.1.0*

App is clunky, slow to connect, graphs hard to use and doesn’t integrate with Apple Health app. Design seems like it’s from 2012 or something, and doesn’t do the hardware justice. Makes me wish I’d bought the cheaper non-Bluetooth unit and stuck to the color codes. Ketonix hope you will write a decent app to replace this and integrate it with Apple health, really shouldn’t be hard

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-05-31, version 2.0.13*

Works well. Easy to use. Software support is excellent and very responsive. This is my second Ketonix. Really cool not to be tethered to the computer any longer. Great work Ketonix! Nailed it.

### 5/5 — Working great for me

*2023-02-22, version 2.0.13*

I have my profile set up and save my data consistently.

As for the Ketonix breathalyzer, I was doing that all wrong. Directions!

Read the directions and ensure you are completely emptying your lungs. No need to inhale first!

The app is easy to use and being able to analyze day, week, month, year and customize your results are fantastic.

### 5/5 — Does what it's supposed to do

*2022-06-27, version 2.0.8*

Not sure what all the negativity is about. If all the app did was measure breath acetone levels and chart it, that alone is worth 5 stars imo (but it does other things as well). Device works perfectly for me. Just make sure you charge it completely before using, turn your phone's Bluetooth on and you're good to go.

### 5/5 — Much better!

*2020-05-07, version 2.0.0*

The latest version of the app is a huge improvement over previous versions. Many more options for tracking, lots of information and guides, feedback on results, and big step up on the interface. Still has some problems, but the app offers a lot more now.

### 5/5 — Ketonix Bluetooth

*2018-04-22, version 1.0.30*

Overall, I have been impressed with the breath analyzer. Wish it would warm up faster. Very slow. Since I have received the unit, I have had no problems. Suggestion would be to make it compatible with Myfitnesspal so I could see the effects of carbs and tracking my macros. Thanks, Loyd Hurn

**Developer response:** Hey

There is a completely new app released today 2020-06-17.

Best Regards
Michel

### 4/5 — Works well

*2018-04-11, version 1.0.30*

Does what it says and without any problems. (Be sure to read the Ketonix manual). Would be nice to have HealthKit integration.

### 4/5 — Good device, but the app is glitchy

*2017-12-29, version 1.0.20*

Good device, and once the bugs with the algorithms were sorted it is working much better, but the app is glitchy and doesn’t always refresh/connect to the Bluetooth without having to shut the app down and reload.

### 3/5 — Cannot register so can’t use app or device

*2020-07-30, version 2.0.3*

User registration attempt elicits an error message saying selected username is not available... but there is no actual username data field so unable to resolve

### 3/5 — Charts too narrow to read

*2019-08-22, version 1.0.30*

To the developers:

Please improve the analysis features on this app. I don’t want to see my weight or blood sugar, just the Ketonix measurements. But because you left space for the other measurements the ketonix chart is way too narrow. It goes up by increments of 20. I’d need increments of 5 to see where I’m really up to. My data points blend together and I wind up having to visit the “edit” portion of the app to see prior measurements.

This is a shame because you obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the hardware. Please update the app so users have the experience you’re after.

### 3/5 — Disappointed by update

*2018-04-24, version 1.0.30*

Very disappointed to find that a recent update and hence this version has removed the trend lines and now requires you to purchase an upgrade to show them. I highly dislike this behaviour didn’t I pay enough for this over priced device already!
Generally the app works OK but occasionally really struggles to connect to the device and I have not yet determined if this is related to listening to audio over Bluetooth at the same time getting everything in a real muddle.
I am also still waiting for the app to stop loosing my display setting in the analysis view, surely if displaying breath acetone is the primary role if the device that should be enabled by default.
