A few months ago it started to randomly unlock the door. We have had to take the batteries out and use a key for the door now. Worst decision ever to go with this Baldwin lock and Kevo technology. Doesn’t work most of the time and I got locked out because it wasn’t working so I had to call a locksmith. Now I have to replace the locks on one door and my front door is also locking up. Put phone in airplane mode, then back, and the lock requires relinking. Periodically stops working and has to be relinked. Periodically forgets who I am, and have to be signed back in. Tap the lock with body turned 90-deg, wait 30-sec while the lock thinks, then won’t open. Turn just so, and then it works. Great idea, terrible technology, awful implementation. Useless software. The Bluetooth “tap” to lock/unlock takes longer than using a key. Waste of money and time!!! ### 1/5 — stopped working completely *2024-06-14, version 4.0.13* out of nowhere just stopped working completely. thought it was just a battery issue and changed out all 4 batteries with fresh ones. still not working. tried to reset it and nothing happens. the lights on the deadbolt don't flash anymore and our phones cannot recognize/connect to it via bluetooth. And pairing doesn't even work either. pressing the "program" button does nothing, but make a beep. the app instructs you to press that button and have phone nearby to connect but nothing happens. what gives?! this thing doesn't work anymore and customer support basically told us there's nothing they can do. smh. one of the worst products we've ever bought, unfortunately. we're back to old school using physical keys. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Terrible app with lots of flaws. *2026-05-13, version 4.0.13* Can’t get to an instruction page without error code. Just talk to the numerous customers that now have useless Weiser Kevo smart door locks that no longer works as the Kevo app will be discontinued. Why can’t you Intergrate the Weiser app to work with the old Kevo app. The only conclusion is TO INCREASE SALE OF THE NEW WEISER SMART LOCKS. Woohoo a discount that will still cost me $130.00 per lock to be replace in Canada. NO THANK YOU WEISER I will pick a new manufacturer that I can trust and not be afraid that you will discontinue another app like the Kevo app rendering all my SMART LOCKS INOPERATIVE !! ### 1/5 — ASSA ABLOY WILL KILL YOUR WORKING LOCK WITH 45 DAYS NOTICE *2025-09-29, version 4.0.13* Don’t buy any smart lock from an ASSA ABLOY company, they gave a 45 day warning that they were killing the Kevo app based unlocking. They then offered a discount on a lock that has been superseded by a newer model. So generous, the jerks. ### 1/5 — Will be obsolete in November *2025-09-22, version 4.0.13* Absolutely ridiculous they are discontinuing the app. Its an already developed app for customers who have already purchased from you. The app now works better than it did previously for me. Thank you Kevo developers for responding to my concerns in a timely manner! Original review below: Before last week, I would have rated Kevo 4/5 or 5 stars because it usually works very reliably on my phone. Sometimes it would have trouble connecting when I moved away from my door, but otherwise a very solid app. And then, last Thursday 8/17, the Kevo app updated, and it has not worked for me since then. Every time I try to unlock my front door, I get a “Bluetooth connection error” that is unfixable. We tried changing the batteries in the physical lock, resending the key to my email, turning off/on the Bluetooth on my phone, and uninstalling/reinstalling the app, but nothing worked. This is an issue for me as I am now unable to get into my house after coming home from school. Not only is this inconvenient, it’s dangerous. I am going through my garage for the time being, but this is a major issue that Kevo needs to see fixed. ### 5/5 — Gnjjkk *2023-05-08, version 4.0.7* Gjjjkkll ### 5/5 — Kevo Useless Since iOS Update *2023-04-03, version 4.0.7* I've had this device for about two years. It always worked 100% of the time. However with the iOS 10 update the lock has failed to perform reliably. There have been some firmware updates as well as app updates, yet the Kēvo lock has not worked well since iOS 10. Would not recommend at this time. Update 8/22/17 Since my previous review, there have been additional App and firmware updates. I wish I could say that the Kēvo lock is now working as well as it did before Apple's iOS 10. Sadly, that is not the case. As stated in my original review, sometimes it works well, other times not.
