### 1/5 — Really Brutal App

*2018-09-24*

Not even sure where to start here.

Guest access isn't truly guest access. It's allowing a guest special access to the app (which they have to download) and once downloaded and logged in with the guest key, they can unlock the door from within the app... not using the keypad.

Can't add new door codes through the app.

App is slow to respond to touches. I'll often think i didn't touch in the correct spot... touch again. Many times the second touch ends up clicking on something else as the new page is loading.

Get logged out every so often (using Google authentication).

The really unfortunate thing is that the hardware is excellent. Bud quality is strong and overall design is fantastic. But the abysmal app is making me consider buying a more established brand.

Support has been responsive... but not super helpful.

### 1/5 — Needs a ton of work.

*2020-06-10*

The app no longer works and just crashes every time I open it after deleting and reinstalling it on iOS 13.6.

This never really worked well when it would open, so I guess it’s just useless.

I can still use the hardware as a lock but not very happy and don’t recommend to anyone.

**Developer response:** Hi, This is the iOS 13.6 beta version.
There is no way we can fix it because it is not a fully released version.
It is recommended to use it in the official iOS version 13.5.
When iOS13.6 version is officially released in the future, it can be used.

### 1/5 — No nfc on iPhones

*2020-03-29*

Door locks with nfc don’t work as Android you get an nfc option in the app and on iPhone no nfc option. Also crashes on iPad.

**Developer response:** NFC functions vary depending on the performance of Android phones. To use, the keypad of your Android phone and door lock must be turned on (light on).
The iPhone does not support NFC functionality.
And the iPad can't control our door locks. We can only use mobile phone devices that can actually make a call.

### 1/5 — Not supported device

*2019-09-27*

When i open the app, appears an announce not supported device! I have an iPhone 6

**Developer response:** iPhone 6 is supported. Is your phone unavailable? Please tell us the specific situation. We will fix it after confirmation. Please contact us at support@thekeywe.com.

### 1/5 — Needs improvements

*2019-09-18*

I’m constantly getting logged out of the app! Smart open “loses server Connection” far too often. Also it won’t remember your credentials, so you have to log back in every time. This costs too much to just be a keypad lock!

**Developer response:** For security reasons, the app will automatically log out if your phone's network is unstable. This is to prevent risks such as cell phone hacking. Please understand. However, we will check for other problems for better service, and will upgrade the feature from time to time. Please contact support@thekeywe.com for more information. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Worst purchase of my life

*2019-08-21*

This company told me not to purchase the wireless bridge device because I already have a Wink hub. So I skip out and then turns out their Wink support never happened and Wink blocked their locks. So I missed on the discount on the crowdfunding page. Then they now say it’s only available with Android phones. So I have to buy a SmartThings hub just to use this lock. Sorry, but I already have a smart lock that does everything this lock does. All I wanted this for was for the keyfobs. But to get this lock to work the way it needs to is just not feasible.

This company has NO phone support leaving you to have weeks worth of back an forth email conversations to get questions answered. And the app has such a low rating, it seems as though no one can use it.

**Developer response:** sorry. Our door lock supported Wink hub in production. However, Wink hub blocked our door lock. We are asking for cooperation to resolve this issue, and we are working on a workaround. Contact us at support@thekeywe.com and we will do our best to resolve the issue.

### 1/5 — Overall User Experience Needs to be Changed

*2019-05-16*

Overall this app is non-user friendly and the admin functions need to be redesigned and I’ll point out where:

1. The selling point for me was the ability to change the guest key remotely. The problem is the use of that app generated key forces the guest to download the app. This is very misleading and unnecessary. Admin should be able change the guest key and the guest should be able to use that key without downloading the app.

2. The lock does not connect most of the time to my app or Smarthhub even though it’s 10 feet from the lock.

3. Admin should be able to generate guest key combination remotely

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback.
First of all, in order to control the door lock on condition that the guest does not use the app, you can change the password of the door lock in real time remotely via Wi-Fi bridge. However, you can not specify the usage time. We will continue to strive for smarter use. Your opinion becomes the foundation upon which we grow. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2019-05-15*

*Response to the developer response*

Did you even read my review? I mentioned several features I’d like added: namely, 1. progress indicators while the app is communicating with the lock and the main thread is blocked, and 2. The current auto-lock setting only works if the door is never opened. Many users have asked for an additional auto-lock timeout setting so that they can increase the amount of time the door stays unlocked after unlocking, opening then closing the door. Currently, the door will immediately lock after doing this and there’s no way to adjust it.

HOWEVER, more than new features, I’d first like the existing promised features to actually work, like smart open/smart touch. I’ve tried many times, and it has never worked for me. I have not found a single iOS user say this actually works for them (for example, many users have complained about it on the KeyWe Facebook page that you apparently never read). This feature is THE MAIN reason why I bought the KeyWe locks (three of them, to be exact) in the first place, and it’s broken.

Lastly, I’m an iOS developer, and as unintuitive as your app is, I know how to use it, thanks.

*Original review*

As others have already said, the app needs a lot of work. It’s never made clear, but I figured out that the app connects to the lock via Bluetooth and not WiFi, which explains the need to be close to the lock and also the slow response time when changing settings. But at the very least a progress indicator should be displayed when reading/writing data between the app and lock so the user knows something is happening rather than just staring at an unresponsive screen.

Also, smart open/touch has never worked for me at all nor have I ever received any push notifications.

Please add an auto-lock setting that controls how long the door stays unlocked after being unlocked from the inside. I still want the auto-lock feature, but quite often I step outside for just a moment (my backyard, especially) and it’s rather annoying to have the door immediately lock behind me before I can come back inside.

**Developer response:** We update apps from time to time if we find problems. Please let me know if you have any features you'd like to add. We strive for better service. Please contact supprot@thekeywe.com. We'll tell you how to use it.

### 1/5 — Mature into a real company, please

*2019-04-07*

Please provide more information than just “bug fixed”. This isn’t hard. Your software is CLEARLY the weakest link in your product, and is only reinforced by the complete lack of software release professionalism when your patches provide ZERO information regarding the fixes, on a SECURITY product no less. Time to stop behaving like a group of teenagers in a garage, and actually behave like a company that has taken money from customers for your product.

**Developer response:** Sorry. Is there a problem with the KeyWe door lock? Please provide details of the problem. We will do our best to resolve.

### 1/5 — Extremely slow & not user friendly

*2019-02-01*

I use this for one of my Airbnb’s and the temporary key codes have NEVER worked. This was literally the only reason I got this lock and this feature does not work. You are also unable to customize the key code that is used for the temporary status. I’m very disappointed.

**Developer response:** Hi Swellrider85,
Is it a guest key function? The number issued as a guest key is not a number that can be opened by the door. The verification number. You can open and close the door through the app after being authenticated in the KeyWe App. Thekeywe.blog provides detailed usage instructions. Note please.

### 1/5 — The app needs work

*2018-11-24*

The app doesn’t work! Lock does not connect to WiFi and constantly asks to log in. Network connection is none existent! Should have gone with a more established brand. =( and some of the pages are in Korean

### 4/5 — Was working great, now can't log in

*2020-08-19*

Love this app and it's worked very well for me up until the latest version. I use Google Login for me account, but now there is no option to sign in with Google. When I try to recover my password with "forgot my password" it just tells me that my account is done through Google and I need to log in that way. Again though, there is no Google login option. Just phone number and email are options.

**Developer response:** sorry. Please provide your detailed account information. We do not have any information rights to the Google Account. Please contact us at support@thekeywe.com. We will solve the problem.

### 3/5 — Weak app on apple strong device

*2019-10-08*

I am a bit disappointed tbh the device itself is great fairly obvious and medium difficulty self install, sleek, robust, stylish, and yet unobtrusive, then their is the app.... what a let down, the app struggles to log in or stay active in the background which results in the ideal feature of automatically unlocking being unreliable at best, I had at most 3 days of it almost working correctly, the timing delay setting being too long on the shortest setting and regularly missing the queue entirely, the passcode setting over the bridge app another great success and then the one time passcode option not having an option for how long it’s active (why a matter of minutes) if your only setting it when they are already there might as well just use the remote unlock, the app stinks of design by someone that has never used it or has a very non-average lifestyle

**Developer response:** Thank you for using our KeyWe Door Lock. Your valuable opinions develop us. Thank you. Let us know what you lack and we will try our best to update it. Please give us many opinions in the future. App will be updated to use conveniently as soon as possible. If you find any issues please feel free to contact us at support@thekeywe.com. We will try to solve it. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2019-05-25*

If the app cannot immediately connect to the internet it forgets the log in details. This needs to be fixed. It also takes too long to connect to lock when on Bluetooth.

**Developer response:** Sorry for the delay. Is the app automatically signed out? We have modified the App to address this issue. Is Bluetooth paired with phone? If it is paired, cancel it. Some paired phone may not be connected smoothly.

### 3/5 — Amazing hardware, slow app

*2019-01-03*

The app is pretty bad, but the hardware rocks. App needs to be fast, connect to my locks better, and no-login guest acts.

**Developer response:** Thank you. Your opinions are valuable. We strive for better service. Please contact support@thekeywe.com.

### 2/5 — Tons of bugs to be worked out

*2019-03-30*

I was sucked in by their very misleading Kickstarter campaign. These units do NOT have video capabilities like they implied. First of five boxes I opened was the wrong colour and it’s defective. Hopefully they try to work with me but I had to wait almost a year to get my locks to begin with so we’ll see how this goes.

**Developer response:** Sorry. There is not enough information to solve your problem. Please contact support@thekeywe.com to resolve your. We will do our best to solve your problem.

### 2/5 — Not displaying correctly on iPhone 6

*2018-10-25*

I can’t scroll up to enable magic touch in door lock setting.

### 2/5 — A lot need to imporve

*2018-10-11*

- I use iphone xs. The buttom menu it very hard to access. It easy to accidentally swipe up then go to home.
- the app are slow. Not responsive at all.
- why can’t i register the keychain or the wristband to the Smartlock thru the app. That would be much easier.
- under “Passcode, Card”. It should have option to rename all the Passcode / Card.
- Smart Open, it does not always work as it should be.
- i didn’t get any notification when the door is unlock. Yes, i turn on the “Notification” in Door Lock Setting.
- there is nothing come up on “Access History”.
