## What is Kibo?

Kibo turns "what's for dinner?" into a week you can actually cook. Plan meals for the whole household, watch everyone's calories and macros land on target, and shop from a list that already knows what's in your pantry.

ONE PLAN, EVERYONE'S PORTIONS
Add each family member with their own goal — lose fat, build muscle, maintain — and Kibo works out their daily calories and macros from real formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor TDEE, protein anchored to body weight). Put a recipe on the table and every person's portion is sized for them, automatically. One dinner, four right-sized plates.

ANY RECIPE, IN SECONDS
Paste a link, photograph a cookbook page, or share an Instagram reel. Kibo reads it, matches every ingredient to nutrition data, and adapts it to your household — scaled to the people eating, tuned to their goals, and screened against the allergies and dietary restrictions you've set — always check the final ingredient list yourself.

A KITCHEN THAT'S ALREADY STOCKED
Browse 80+ photographed dishes filtered by meal, diet and goal, or write your own recipes and keep your own ingredient list.

THE SHOPPING LIST WRITES ITSELF
Every planned meal, summed across the week and grouped by category — minus whatever is already in your pantry. Tick something off and it goes straight into your stock.

COOK IT TOGETHER
Start a cooking session and everyone in the kitchen gets a lane — who's at the hob, who's at the board, whose timer just went. Steps carry their own timings, so nothing waits on somebody remembering it. And you can ask out loud for the next step or for a timer, without wiping your hands first.

FOR THE WEEK YOU ACTUALLY HAVE
• Apple Watch — today's meals, everyone's rings, the shopping list to tick off in the aisle, and cook mode on your wrist
• Apple TV — the week on the big screen, and a cook mode the kitchen can read from across the room
• Search every recipe you have by name or ingredient
• Print the week as a digest, a day sheet or a recipe book
• Auto-fill a day, or get dish suggestions ranked by how well they fit
• See where a day is unbalanced before you cook it
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets: today's menu and everyone's rings
• Ask Siri "what's for dinner?" or "how many calories are left?", and open any recipe from Spotlight or a Shortcut
• Apple Health: weight trend, energy, and a TDEE measured from your own data
• Tick a meal as eaten and its calories and macros are written to Apple Health for you, per person
• Optional on-device AI — choose Apple Intelligence and pasted recipes and ingredient lookups are handled on your iPhone: free, private, and no connection needed
• Share a plan, a shopping list or a single recipe as a link or a PDF
• Eleven languages — English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Malay, Portuguese and Turkish — with full right-to-left layouts and Hijri, Hebrew and Jalali calendars

WHERE OUR NUMBERS COME FROM
Kibo's calorie and macro targets use published equations — Mifflin-St Jeor for resting energy, protein anchored to body weight following Morton et al. (2018) and the ISSN position stand, and macronutrient ranges from the Institute of Medicine. Every formula is shown in the app with a link to its source, one tap from any figure. Kibo is a meal planner, not a medical device, and does not provide medical advice — talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before changing how you eat.

SUBSCRIPTION
Kibo Plus is an auto-renewing subscription for your whole household, offered monthly or yearly. The price for your region is shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.

### 5/5 — Finally, a meal planner that actually makes sense

*2026-08-31*

This app has completely changed how we handle dinner in our house! It’s super easy to drop in recipes from links or social media, and I love how it automatically adjusts portions and macros for everyone's different goals without needing to cook separate meals. Plus, the smart grocery list that tracks what’s already in your pantry is an absolute game-changer. Highly recommend if you want to eat healthier with zero stress!

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-31

• Recipe imports now run in the background. Paste a link, share a reel or photograph a page, then lock your phone and get on with something else — a strip above your recipe library shows each import working and holds the finished draft until you're ready to review it. An import that fails says why, and retries with a tap.

• Adjust any recipe by asking. Open a recipe and tell Kibo what you want changed — "spicier but still kid-friendly", "no dairy", "stretch it to six". It shows you every difference, from ingredients and steps to servings and timings, before anything is saved.

• Kibo no longer asks to write nutrition to Apple Health during first launch. It asks when you turn the setting on, or the first time you mark a meal eaten.

• Re-import a recipe with one person's dietary restriction relaxed, without changing it for anyone else.

• Printed and shared plans lay out better: day sheets flow across pages instead of breaking, and recipe photos are sized properly.

• Number formatting fixes, a fix for a duplicate refresh while an import was in flight, and better crash reporting.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-25
