### 2/5 — Privacy concerns for location always on if doing outdoor running

*2026-08-11, version 3.6.0*

If undertaking outdoor running the app forces you to select location on always which is pretty poor from a privacy perspective. It will not work if you select while using app. Having to deselect this after each run is tiresome and Apple reported that it was sending location information in the background on two occasions.

Also annoying, it does not sync with Apple health so you have to track this separately.

Fix these issues and I might update my rating.

Edit: the developers response does not reassure me at all! Given all my other trail tracking apps and fitness apps including running apps give the option to have location only when using - you should not be forcing people to use only location on
always to use this feature. Give people a choice.

This does not follow the Australian data law principles of privacy focused design.

Furthermore I am confused by the statement that my location data “never leaves my device”. The app uses data from my runs to generate metrics and run plans, and this information can presumably be synchronised between devices.

Do you mean that raw GPS data never leaves the device, while derived information such as distance, pace and running history is uploaded? If so, that distinction seems important.

It’s also incredibly annoying because I have to keep turning location off after each run because I find this setting to be inherently invasive

### 3/5 — Good and bad aspects

*2026-07-24, version 3.5.9*

It’s a reasonably good price for the year when compared to paying for a gym membership. The recipes are good but lower range than things like Sam Wood if you want lots of different recipes. The trainers are absolutely insufferable. They leave mistakes in the recordings to try and seem relatable and self deprecating but it’s just silly and seems unprofessional. They also seem like they are trying to force a smile through every word. A suggested strength program to go along with the running programs would also be helpful. Happy to have it now but won’t be resubscribing.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2026-04-14, version 3.5.1*

I really wanted to like this app because I really support Steph and Claire, but this really didn’t impress me at all. I found the app hard to navigate and to find exercises I wanted to do. I also found it way too easy - I think it is designed for someone who is really new to exercise. I am not particularly fit, but even the ‘advanced’ classes I found boring, repetitive and not that hard. I downloaded this app when postpartum to do the Pilates workouts and I still found it too easy (having hardly exercised in 9 months). I tried the getting back into running series and that was simply too slow (you’re basically walking for the first 4 weeks at least). Sorry, but it was just disappointing.

### 2/5 — Great workouts but the app glitches

*2026-04-01, version 3.5.1*

The calendar view which is most useful always displays duplicate workouts and stacks them over and over.

### 3/5 — Pricey

*2026-01-11, version 3.3.12372*

I absolutely love KiC and Steph, but to be honest, I’m a working Mum but i simply cannot afford the app. Guess I’m not the target market.

### 2/5 — Not my vibe

*2026-01-05, version 3.3.12288*

I paid for the year subscription which was a bit of a risk but I’m no stranger to workout apps, and was keen to try an Aussie one now I’m living here.

My first sign that I’d made a mistake was when the app asked me to set intentions or aspirations when I first signed up (I had to choose from a list - things like joy, altruism, love etc.). As well as making write down how to achieve these things.

This felt so peculiar and out of place - my goal as it pertains to being on a workout app is to stay fit. I think I understand it in theory, but the app doesn’t support achieving any goals other than basic wellness - it’s just workouts and recipes - so I’m not sure why the activity was necessary.

The workouts are good but the presentation isn’t always. I really like one of the trainers who is assertive, encouraging positive (I think she is Spanish but I’m not sure, I’m so sorry I don’t know her name). That sort of approach is important to me, and is also what I loved about the alo app which I usually use - the alo trainers are excited and hype you up even when it burns or is hard, but unfortunately I’m finding that’s not always the vibe on kic.

One of the workouts I did, the founder couldn’t do the exercises, she complained, her and the trainer both talked about how hard it was, and the founder showed improper form, made mistakes and kinda ignoring the instructions. On top of that, the trainer wasn’t doing the exercises to demonstrate form, so I wasn’t sure what was going on/what I was supposed to be doing. It felt really discouraging.

Finally, the workouts aren’t filmed in a way to suit a phone. Some don’t work in landscape, and the one that do are quite zoomed out so again, you can’t see proper form.

I’ll continue using it as I’ve paid for a full year, and I look forward to finding more things I like about it. But for now, it just doesn’t feel professional, if that makes sense. My personal preference is encouraging, peppy - make me feel strong and fit! But I know that’s not for everyone so it may just be a vibe mismatch.

### 2/5 — Privacy and location data is scary

*2025-10-19, version 3.3.11904*

Whilst I like the features/functionality of the app, it really bothers me that the app needs access to location at all times in order to use the run program. I don’t understand why it can’t work when you’re just using the app??? Why do you need my precise location at all times? What are these guys doing with this data? I won’t be renewing and honestly wish I had known before I had purchased it. I’ll go back to using another run program.

### 4/5 — No music when AirPlay to TV

*2025-08-28, version 3.3.11639*

Love the App but the music will not go through when on airplay. Would love music while I workout

### 3/5 — Please please please improve ❤️

*2025-06-25, version 3.3.11415*

I bought a 1 yr subscription and have been using Kic for 5 months now. The MAIN and most important pieces of feedback i would like to give: 1. You cannot maximise the video to make it larger on the screen and as someone who lives with eyesight issues, this is extremely frustrating. Even if you airplay/cast to a larger screen, the video still comes up as a cropped square. This is an area for a major improvement in my opinion and i cant bring myself to fully love this app until i can maximise a video to full screen. It is such a small but simple thing that you should be able to do. Especially for someone like me who only uses my phone to follow videos because i travel and dont have access to laptop or tv. 2. If you are somewhere with no internet or phone reception you are unable to access the app whatsoever. This is again frustrating for me as I travel for long periods to remote places where internet and phone signal are a luxury. The ability to download offline access would really be a game changer for an app that advertises as ‘on demand.’ I really want to love this app… but these are two things that i think will really help to majorly satisfy your customers. Sending this review with love, kindness, and hope for a speedy update ❤️

### 4/5 — Airplay drops out or doesn’t work

*2025-05-13, version 3.3.11196*

Love this app so much. Unfortunately the airplay drops out frequently or doesn’t work on our Samsung TV. It works for other screen sharing and apps, but not Kic sadly. Hoping this can be looked at soon! ❤️🤞🏼 if we could also filter by equipment type and level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) that’d be perfect!

### 2/5 — Expensive

*2025-03-17, version 3.3.10810*

Love the idea, but it’s way too expensive in a time where literally EVERYTHING requires a subscription these days.

### 2/5 — Have to pay to use app

*2025-03-09, version 3.3.10723*

Thought it was free but its subscription based - deleted app

### 2/5 — Was better before the update

*2025-01-25, version 3.3.10502*

The app isn’t as user friendly as it used to be since the update. And customer service is non existent. I’ve emailed 3 times and tried on social media and have been ignore. It’s sad the level of support from the KIC girls has disappeared as their profiles have grown.

### 4/5 — Very user friendly !

*2025-01-17, version 3.3.10449*

Love the app, fantastic variety for all different activity styles ! Great instruction for exercises!
My preferred style of workout is weights at the gym, so I loved the lift program!
Only downfall for me was that there was no extension/next program to follow on after completing the initial 12 weeks of lift

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t open the app

*2026-01-25, version 3.4.2*

I used to love this app but it won’t go past the splash screen. Been trying for a few weeks and would like to sign up with the offer

### 1/5 — Glitchy and better free options

*2025-11-05, version 3.3.12028*

Don’t know why anyone would pay for this. There are much better free options on the market, not to mention AI. I did the trial and no way I would pay 30 bucks a month when Centr costs the same and has way more content. Nike’s free options are already better than Kic’s paid options. Cant believe they charge so much when it doesn’t even compete

### 1/5 — Privacy Issues

*2025-09-05, version 3.3.11690*

If you only want to use for treadmill runs please be warned that you need to share your location Always - not just when using the app. That’s a deal breaker for me.

### 1/5 — Clunky running app

*2025-07-21, version 3.3.11505*

Signed up to do a couch to 5km type of program. I allowed the app to run in the background and send me notifications but it still would not count down the intervals once the phone was closed after about 15 seconds. Very expensive for the functionality not to work.

### 1/5 — Only a cover image but no video

*2025-02-01, version 3.3.10536*

I was recommended by apple to give this app a go, but for the 5 exercises I have tried so far in the app it only got a cover image but no video at all. It is like teaching you to do exercise with a podcast.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2025-01-11, version 3.3.10375*

7 days free intro. After this you pay. Misleading to promote as free with in-app purchases when you have to pay for the app

### 1/5 — Didn’t like this app at all

*2024-06-26, version 3.3.8807*

I tried so many apps for fitness but this one is the less engaging i found.

### 1/5 — Unhappy with apple support

*2024-06-19, version 3.3.8757*

Nothing against the app itself, more about apple with regarding a refund if you are unhappy with the product. The app didn’t quite hit my expectations regarding set up and user functions. I felt it was a little hard to navigate (based off other apps I’ve used in the past) and didn’t like how you had to search for a warm up/cool down aspect rather it being built into each exercise session. When submitting a refund through apple, I was denied multiple times. Apparently satisfaction of a product is not part of their policy for a refund. $117 is a lot of money to spend on a product you arn’t happy with. After emails and calls to apple support nothing can be done. And yes there is a “trial” period but 7 days when you work full time/kids and don’t get time every day to trial the app isn’t exactly long enough time. Please be mindful before you buy

### 1/5 — Steer away

*2024-06-19, version 3.3.8757*

Be careful with this app and their debits. Have had a terrible experience

### 1/5 — Scam!

*2024-03-11, version 3.3.7935*

I opted out of this app as it wasn’t for me. I haven’t got any active subscriptions yet it is trying to withdraw money from my account! This has been reported to Apple

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Everything you need at your fingertips!

*2025-09-10, version 3.3.11690*

This app is a game changer! Having so many options of exercises, mobility, warm up, cool down, recipes, tracking walks/runs, mindfulness, and scheduling is phenomenal! I love Laura and steph’s energy and their banter.

### 5/5 — The best

*2025-03-17, version 3.3.10810*

I’ve tried a couple workout subscriptions and KIC is the first one to make me excited to move every day. Not to mention the recipes, meditations, and motivating challenges they do from time to time. All of the masterclasses are so fun that you aren’t even paying attention to how challenging they are. I truly look forward to my workouts with KIC.

### 5/5 — Love! Love! Love!

*2025-03-17, version 3.3.10810*

This app is perfect if you have a busy lifestyle! Short but effective workouts! I have been following the strength programs and I feel so much stronger and have seen so much more progress than before using the app. It’s like having your own personal trainer! The recipes are quick and easy and you don’t need a million different ingredients but they taste great!

### 5/5 — Worth the money

*2025-03-05, version 3.3.10714*

I am so happy i bought this app. I bought it on sale at the beginning of the year thinking I might at least get a few workouts out of it. I have since completed a 0-3km KicRun program, started halfway through the 0-5km and utilised many of the strength, HIIT, Pilates, and yoga classes on the app. The variety is incredible!!

### 5/5 — Love love love!

*2025-01-31, version 3.3.10519*

I’ve used Kic since 2019 and the app just keeps getting better and better. I’m loving the new today page which helps suggest workouts and meditations when I have no idea what to do. The KICRUN programs have also been so great when I want to build up my running distance - overall, I just love everything Kic has. It really has everything you need in one spot!

### 5/5 — I AM a runner

*2025-01-29, version 3.3.10519*

I never thought I’d see the day that I would look forward to a run. Having a guided program makes it SO easy. I’m making so much progress thanks to KIC. Beyond happy.

### 5/5 — Game changer and beginner inclusive! ⭐️

*2025-01-26, version 3.3.10502*

KIC App has a variety of workouts and majority you need no equipment for and can do at home! It really helped me to use my time effectively as I found I didn’t know what I was doing and was intimidated at the gym!

The app sets up a program for you based on what you’re interested in (eg Pilates, strength, yoga, running, gym, etc) and it has someone demonstrating how to do it. They range from short 5 min workouts you can squeeze into a busy day, to 30mins.

App also includes great recipes, meditation, cool downs and warmups.

### 5/5 — Truly the best!!

*2025-01-22, version 3.3.10471*

I honestly cannot recommend this enough! This app has helped me fit workouts into my busy life balancing school, being a new mum, and household work/chores! Not to mention the bonus of super yummy clean recipes!! I tell everyone I know and love about this app.

Did I mention how uplifting the coaches are during the workouts?! I mean come on!! The vibe is 10/10 the burn is 10/10 the motivation is 10/10.

### 5/5 — My daily “KIC”!

*2025-01-17, version 3.3.10449*

The KIC app is quite honestly the only app I use everyday. Whether it’s meditation, recipes, running or a quick 10 min session - they have it all.

The team have listened to the community and continue to take on constructive pointers to make the app better. I genuinely feel they care about our health, wellbeing and overall happiness.

Through all phases in my life, including my two pregnancies, I used KIC!

Thank you ❤️

### 5/5 — Great for busy mums

*2025-01-17, version 3.3.10449*

It has always been a good app, but since having my little one I have really realised the benefits of it.

I love how there are different length workouts so if you only have 5 or 10 mins to yourself you can still do a workout and feel like you’ve accomplished something.

All the trainers are fab, the vibes are high and the user experience is top notch.
