### 2/5 — Coach was Great. Billing and Tech Support is Horrible

*2026-09-03, version 3.3.17*

I really liked my Kickoff coach and the workout and nutrition guidance I received, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one. Unfortunately, the way Kickoff handles insurance and customer support has overshadowed an otherwise positive coaching experience.

My insurance covers 12 nutritionist visits before additional authorization is required. CareFirst explained that my provider can request continued coverage by submitting the appropriate information showing medical necessity. Instead of helping navigate that process, Kickoff support has been slow to respond and has provided inadequate assistance with the reauthorization steps my insurer says the provider needs to take.

Making matters worse, once I reached the insurance limit, the app locked me behind an insurance eligibility screen. I can no longer access the rest of the app — including the account settings Kickoff tells customers to use to cancel.

That’s particularly frustrating for a service that advertises “No Hidden Fees,” “No Subscriptions,” and “No Contracts.” If insurance eligibility prevents someone from continuing, Kickoff should provide a clear transition process rather than locking the customer out of their account while leaving them to figure out cancellation, insurance and records issues through support.

I’ve also requested copies of my medical and billing records associated with the care billed to my insurance.

My coach was great. Kickoff’s administrative infrastructure and support have not been. For a company providing health-related services and billing health insurance, patients deserve much better communication, transparency and access when insurance requires additional authorization.

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2026-08-26, version 3.3.14*

My personal trainer & dietitian Lauren is the best and the reason why I have continued to use Kickoff but the actual app could use some upgrades, I am begging you for screen widgets that let me see my streak without having to go into the app. Or a widget that shows me the workouts I have scheduled for the day. And the screenshare feature needs more development because when I have tried to connect to my TV it kept glitching and it was so annoying to follow the workouts, I use my phone now most of the time but it would be nice to be able to connect to the TV and have it be as functional as the phone version. I even tried logging in from my laptop today and the app was not compatible. I think some upgrades to the app for a better user experience would take Kickoff to the next level.

### 4/5 — Kickoff

*2026-08-24, version 3.3.14*

Easy UI to work with.
Love the fact my insurance covers it!
The app still has a few bugs it doesn’t allow me to choose a photo from my library I’m running the app on iPhone 15. The black screen is finally gone, but the app does sometimes crash and close out. Fix and it will be 10 stars, not 5 🤗

### 2/5 — Poor Customer Service

*2026-08-06, version 3.3.14*

Coach was great, but the “support team” was not so supportive. After a few months, I suddenly was locked out of the app without warning. I was given a screen to re-verify my insurance info. It then said it could not verify my insurance but did not give me any contact info for support. My coach was unaware, checked with support and then told me supposedly my insurance was refusing to pay. He provided me two email addresses for the support team. Upon checking with my insurance, the last claim was two months ago and was paid. There are no denied claims. I have emailed support 3x with no response, and at this point I don’t even want to continue seeing this is how they operate.

### 4/5 — App

*2026-08-06, version 3.3.14*

It freezes sometimes but other than that I’m enjoying changing habits and working with someone who is holding me accountable for my actions.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2026-08-02, version 3.3.14*

After providing all of my personal private information, and getting matched with only 4 trainers total- none of them have any availability for this month, and the UI doesnt let me change months. So im stuck in the onboarding flow…

### 3/5 — Glitchy

*2026-07-23, version 3.3.14*

The app itself is very glitchy. I like the concept but my coach is also a little flakey - will give it another month or so/try a new trainer.

### 2/5 — Just use AI

*2026-07-22, version 3.3.14*

I had issues scheduling my first call but finally got it on the calendar. After that call I was given a guide for a meal plan, that included the only two foods I specifically said I could not eat. It was also incredibly low in calorie and when I asked questions the response was “well it’s a guide, so you can change it.” The whole point is to work with a dietitian. He also told me I need to workout 4 days a week but only build in 2 days.

I tried switching coaches. Had to find one that had availability. Was all set to meet this Friday again and I got a cancellation with reason give.

I went to AI, asked for a meal plan within the budget I needed and then for a weight lift plan at my current skill level. It spit out a solid plan for both and it was way easier than dealing with the app.

### 4/5 — Wish it Integrated with Hevy

*2026-07-09, version 3.3.14*

I’m so glad I was able to find this Kickoff personal training and have it covered by my insurance. Way better than paying somebody else. One thing that it’s lacking is the integration with the app Hevy. I’ve used three different workout tracking apps and Hevy is the best one out there. Only $12 a year with a great interface. On the other hand, the workout tracking within the Kickoff isn’t that great. It’s not even worth trying. I wish my Coach, who is awesome, was able to easily see my workouts through Hevy. Maybe one day.

### 2/5 — Glitchy App

*2026-07-06, version 3.3.14*

My complaint is with the app not the service. It will periodically glitch and not allow you to review or enter information. It will not reset even if you shutdown the app.

### 2/5 — App glitches 24/7

*2026-07-03, version 3.3.14*

Every time I open the app, refresh it, or close and reopen it, it freezes and becomes completely unresponsive. I’ve restarted my phone multiple times and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but the issue keeps happening. I really like how the app organizes my workouts and food logs, which is why I want to keep using it. However, it’s becoming incredibly frustrating because it consistently stops working, making it difficult to use. I’d appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

### 3/5 — Great concept, horrible app

*2026-06-26, version 3.3.14*

The greivences I have with this app is the app itself. Not the coaches or trainers. This app needs a dedicated chat messaging system with them dedicated in app. Allows trainers to manage everyone more effectively with individual tabs, and on top of that users can see individual messages. I've missed so many because this comes in as a text from a number that I do not recognize.

### 4/5 — Connecting with Dietition is great app is unstable

*2026-06-17, version 3.3.12*

I love my coach but the app makes it hard to log my nutrition lately. It gives me a dark screen on top of the app experience. Help. Please fix it.

### 4/5 — great but bugs. notification slide keeps popping up

*2026-06-16, version 3.3.12*

great but bugs. notification slide keeps popping up and i can’t move it. i have to close app and reopen. it’s very annoying. during a call, or workout especially

### 2/5 — Training is great, App is not

*2026-06-15, version 3.3.12*

Quality of my nutritionist is great, I’m only two sessions in so far. However, the app is unbearably buggy. I can’t switch between Kickoff and another app without Kickoff pulling up a blank screen and freezing. That forces me to close the app and restart, then re-input everything. Frustrating since I need to flip back and forth between calorie lookups for food logging. Now I’m seeing the same behavior just for opening the app like normal. Truly unbearable.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — TERRIBLE

*2026-08-22, version 3.3.14*

Don’t bother! They are a spam like company,no customer service number, no consistency with the coaches, their exercises aren’t visible on the app, their coaches cancel the appointments on you without notice. Then they will consistently charge your card $50 or more, cancellation fee. Waste of time!! Waste of money! It’s defrauding people and someone should report them to FTC and other agencies.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-08-11, version 3.3.14*

My “trainer” was a dietitian. She told me weightlifting was too dangerous, and I should only do water aerobics. She told me the reason I haven’t lost weight is that I’m not eating enough calories. Total waste of time. She said she would refer me to another “trainer” if I wasn’t willing to follow her advice. Then, she didn’t even do that.

### 1/5 — Can’t get it to work

*2026-08-06, version 3.3.14*

Trying to create an account and verify insurance but the app is just stuck loading the verification page. Having trouble locating a customer service contact. Hoping to be able to get into the app soon to check it out.

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2026-08-02, version 3.3.14*

The app has not been functional for 4 days. It opens but you can’t click on anything or scroll.

### 1/5 — App freezes

*2026-08-01, version 3.3.14*

App freezes all of the time. I deleted to redownload and lost all of my progress. I have a coach meeting tomorrow and I’m going to miss it and be charged.

### 1/5 — App is Glitchy

*2026-07-29, version 3.3.14*

I haven’t been able to use the app for almost 2 weeks. I’ve deleted and redownloaded it multiple times. I can’t click on anything. I end up using the link they text you for your mtgs.

### 1/5 — It’s called Kickoff because they kick you off the app when your benefits run out

*2026-07-14, version 3.3.14*

The app itself is great. The live coaching is Meh depending on the coach. But you’ll get used to using the app and when insurance benefits run out when you get used to the app experience you’ll have to find an alternative and no longer allowed to use the app.

### 1/5 — The App wont stop loading for Coaches Login

*2026-07-13, version 3.3.14*

Clearly they don’t want anymore coaches and closes the door. It’s absolutely ugly and disgusting

### 1/5 — Trainer is great, APP SUCKS!!!

*2026-06-28, version 3.3.14*

My dietician and personal trainer Dani is great and is very helpful when it comes achieving my fitness goals. however, this app is what is making me leave the 2 star review. Even after the update, it’s making the app inaccessible and I’m unable to log my meals or do my workouts because the app is frozen. This is hindering my progress and I can’t even talk to my trainer Dani until Monday even though I sent her a message about this. FIX THIS APP PLEASE!!!!

### 1/5 — Buggy App

*2026-06-20, version 3.3.13*

Coach was great but the app takes too much to get in and log meals.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth every penny

*2026-08-31, version 3.3.17*

I’ve been on this app about 3 years now. I’m 28, and this is the best shape I’ve been in my life, I’ve tried working out like 8 other times using fitness DVDs and online worksheet, though I found having a trainer has helped get my best results and build consistency: I definitely would have stopped training on about 5 seperate occasions so far if I didn’t. I lost 60 lbs, and right now I’m one of the most in shape people I know now, and my friend’s sister said I went from looking from a 3/10 to a 7.5/10. Even when I was unemployed for 2 months & I was asking my parents to help with rent money, I made sure to keep this app. I liked my trainer so much, that when they started offering free trainers that were covered by insurance, I still kept paying the $100/mo to keep the trainer I liked. I would definitely pay $100/mo to be in the shape I am in today, and I’m planning on keeping it until I die.

### 5/5 — Easy to Use & Covered by my insurance

*2026-07-31, version 3.3.14*

Easy to use! Kick me on track ensures that I am entering all of my information as requested, provides real time food nutrition, detail details and easy to follow video workouts!

### 5/5 — Best app ever

*2026-07-17, version 3.3.14*

This app is an answered prayer. I’ve been trying to manage my nutrition & activities on my own. I always wanted a coach but couldn’t afford one. This app allows me to track my food & exercise while receiving one-on-one training from a licensed dietician. Game changer!

### 5/5 — Why did I wait so long

*2026-07-10, version 3.3.14*

I thrive on external accountability (think Gretchen Rubin, the obliger tendency). I am doing SO WELL staying accountable to my coach! And as much as I thought I knew about portion size and drinking water and the whole nine, I am LEARNING. And evolving. Worth every penny. Why did I wait so long to realize this existed!!?!?!?

### 5/5 — Coach Lexie

*2026-06-23, version 3.3.13*

Coach Lexie is the best! She takes her time to get to know you to set you up with meals and workouts that fit with your life style!

### 5/5 — Great program and great couching.

*2026-06-15, version 3.3.12*

I’ve been using Kickoff for over a month now. The coaching is amazing. The trainer is also nutritionist so they know their stuff.
With my insurance, there was no cost to me. It’s a no-brainer. My wife signed up as well.
Highly recommend Coach Dylan and Kickoff.

### 5/5 — Great option

*2026-06-08, version 3.3.12*

Coming from a car crash Brain Injury TBI this app is a great choice for people who can just drive to a gym and get a trainer

### 5/5 — Great Program

*2026-05-22, version 3.3.11*

First program that isn't a quick fix! My Coach is very informative, doesn't judge me, doesn't tell me no, she encourages and instructs. She listens and advises. Love that my insurance is finally being proactive with health and paying for a program that wants to improve health and not just paying for sickness

### 5/5 — Sustainable, realistic, and motivating

*2026-05-15, version 3.3.10*

Kickoff has helped me build consistency in a way that finally feels realistic for my life. Instead of feeling overwhelmed or pressured to be perfect, I’m learning how to make better choices, plan ahead, and stay flexible when life gets busy.

Kickoff makes it easy to log meals and workouts, and I love that I can communicate directly with my coach for guidance and accountability. I’ve become more confident in the gym, more mindful about nutrition, and more intentional overall. What I appreciate most is that this feels sustainable instead of restrictive.

I’m already noticing changes not just physically, but mentally too. I’m learning discipline, balance, and how to keep going even when things aren’t perfect.

### 5/5 — Trainer is awesome - AI in app isn’t great

*2026-03-11, version 3.3.6*

I love the personal nutrition & training. My assigned person is fantastic and I am seeing gains in a bit over a month — lost weight + added strength and definition. I like the new integration with outside nutrition apps. What would be fantastic would be the ability to upload a photo and NOT use AI. My nutritionist likes to see a meal (as do I) but adding one generally skews the calories and macros even if I upload a nutrition label too. Chronometer brings in clean data and adding a photo makes the data inaccurate. This fix/option would bump the app up to five ⭐️
