## What is Kid Pickup?

Your family’s home base, built around one question: who’s getting the kids today?

Post a pickup or drop-off. Your people see it: your partner, the grandparents, the sitter, a neighbour. One of them says “I’ve got it,” and everyone knows. If nobody has, the app nudges you while there’s still time.

Around the pickups sits the rest of your family’s week: every activity on one calendar, a private feed for news and photos, and a chat for everyone who helps.

HOW IT WORKS
• Add a pickup or drop-off in seconds: type it as a sentence, say it, or fill in the form
• Make it repeat, and it keeps going for as long as you need
• Leave it open for anyone in your circle, or ask one person by name
• They tap “I’ll do it” or “Can’t make it”, right from the notification
• One tap says yes to every Tuesday

WHEN NOBODY HAS IT
• Parents get a nudge the day before, again three hours out, and again at two
• Open pickups stand out on the calendar until someone takes them
• Whoever’s going gets a reminder before it’s time to leave
• See who has opened a pickup, and get a heads-up if a notification didn’t reach someone’s phone
• Prefer email? Turn it on and you get an email too when you’re asked to do a pickup, or when one still needs someone
• Add your work hours and see when an open pickup lands in your shift

YOUR FAMILY’S HOME
• A private feed for the whole family: share a photo or a quick update, comment and react
• Every pickup update lands there too, with a badge saying where it stands: claimed, done, or still open
• Today’s pickups at the top, with who has each one
• Family chat, plus private chats with just some of the family
• Day, week and month calendars, and a link that puts your pickups in Apple, Google or Outlook Calendar

FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HELP
• Invite grandparents, nannies, sitters, friends and neighbours, each with their own role
• Grandparents see the week; a sitter sees only the pickups that need someone and their own. You can change that for anyone
• You decide what each parent or guardian can change: any pickup, only their own, or none
• No app? Send a link and they can take a pickup with no account
• Give the drop-off to one person and the pick-up to another
• Two cars or two kids? A pickup can need more than one person

FOR EVERY KIND OF FAMILY
Two working parents. Co-parents across two homes. A single parent with a village. Grandparents who do the Wednesday run. If more than one person gets your kids, Kid Pickup is for you.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.2 — 2026-10-21

New here? Kid Pickup now walks you through getting started: name your family, pick your avatar, add your kids with theirs, invite a grandparent or helper, and add your first pickup or activity. Joining a family by invitation? You get the same steps from your avatar on, and Getting Started in Settings takes anyone through them again.

I'm here, then Picked up. Whoever is doing a pickup gets a nudge when it's time, with an I'm here button, then one to mark it Picked up or Dropped off. The family hears each step, and the pickup shows when they arrived and when it was done.

To do. Homework, tests, school trips and forms to sign have a list of their own, at the top of the Events tab, and To do is a choice when you add an event. Give each one a day and tick it off when it's done. Whoever is on it, or every parent and guardian, gets a reminder at 6 p.m. the evening before.

Schedules in, without the typing. Paste a season from an email, or use a photo or a PDF of the fridge sheet, and tick the pickups you want. Follow a TeamSnap, GameChanger, school or Google Calendar link, and new and changed dates come in on their own. Import File now reads .ics and .csv files properly. And your work roster can be read from a photo or a PDF into your work hours.

React to comments. Hold a comment on a post to add an emoji, the same eight as Chat.

Family has moved off the bottom bar: tap your family's name at the top of Home. The + for adding something is in the bar now, between Chat and Events. And the plans screen now walks through what Kid Pickup does, one feature at a time.

Fixes: saving a new event no longer shows a conflict warning about itself, and photos further down Home load properly after the app has been in the background.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-10-17

Photos. A post can now carry up to three photos, laid out on the card, and you can take one with the camera without leaving the composer: tap the camera, or choose from your library.

Everything in the bell. The bell at the top right now lists posts and comments beside the pickup updates, newest first, so there is one place to see what happened. Tap one to open the post. Posts never light the Events dot: that still counts only pickups that need something from you.

A number on the app icon. The badge on the icon is the same count as the dot on the Events tab: unread news about a pickup that still needs something. It comes down as you read, and it never counts posts or chat.

Invitations that get through. Invite someone and the app offers to share the link yourself, by text or any app, as well as sending the email. The email now comes from Kid Pickup with your name on it, and a reply goes to you. If an invitation hasn’t been opened a day later, you get one nudge with the same two options.

### 1.6 — 2026-10-15

Events that aren’t pickups. Add a dentist appointment, a parent-teacher meeting, a recital or homework to the calendar: choose Event, beside Drop-off, Pick-up and Both. Nobody is asked to do an event, so there is nothing to claim, no nudges and no “missed”. Everyone it’s shared with is reminded at the times you choose, and it shows on Home, in the Day, Week and Month views, and in your Apple or Google Calendar link.

Both parents, one calendar. A parent or guardian you invite can now change any pickup, not only the ones they added, unless you choose otherwise on their profile.

Your family hears when a pickup changes. Move the day, the time or the place and everyone who can see it is told what changed and who changed it. Whoever had said “I’ll do it” gets a note of their own asking if it still works. Deleting one is announced too.

Your family’s avatar is now changed from the top of the Family screen: tap it.

A small ask: every so often, Home asks whether you’d leave a review on the App Store. Not now puts it away for a month, and Rate Kid Pickup is in Settings whenever you like.

### 1.5.3 — 2026-10-12

Kid Pickup now opens on Home: one private feed for your whole family, with today’s pickups at the top.

HOME
• Share a photo or a quick update. Everyone in your family sees it, and nobody outside it.
• React to a post, or tap Comment to answer it. A parent or guardian can post on a child’s behalf.
• Today’s pickups sit at the top, with who has each one. Anything in the next hour comes first.
• Every pickup update lands here too, with a badge saying where it stands now: open, claimed, done, called off or missed.
• Type a pickup into the same box, like “Soccer Thursday at 4”, and Home offers to add it to the calendar.
• The three dots on a post let you edit or delete your own, or report one. A parent or guardian can delete any.

EMAIL, IF YOU WANT IT
• Turn on Email Notifications in Settings and you get an email too when you’re asked to do a pickup, or when one still needs someone. Off unless you switch it on.
• Feed Notifications, also in Settings, quietens posts and comments and leaves the pickup alerts alone.

WHO CAN CHANGE WHAT
• The family owner now decides what each parent or guardian can do with pickups: change any, only their own, or none. Set it on the invitation or from their profile.

GETTING AROUND
• The bottom bar is Home, Calendar, Family, Chat and Events. Dashboard is now called Calendar, and its Week view is a list of that week’s pickups, a day at a time.
• On a pickup’s card, whoever has it is shown at the top right. In Chat, a reaction sits on the corner of the message it answers.

We’ve updated our Terms of Service to cover the feed. You’ll be asked to agree to them once when you open this version.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-10-02

ADD A PICKUP FASTER
• Type it as a sentence, or say it with your keyboard's microphone, and the form fills itself in.
• Choose what it's for from a list of activities, each with its own symbol.
• Give the drop-off to one person and the pick-up to another.

KNOW WHO HAS IT
• Ask someone by name and they get their own notification, with Accept or Decline.
• Answer "Can't make it" right from the notification, so the family knows to ask someone else.
• Say yes to every day of a repeating pickup in one tap.
• Pickups nobody has taken yet stand out in amber, and every notification says whether it's still open or who claimed it.
• See the avatar of whoever has a pickup, on its card and on the notification.

WHEN PLANS CHANGE
• Call off one day of a repeating pickup, for rain or a sick day, and put it back on later.
• You're asked before saving a pickup that clashes with another, and work conflicts for the week ahead show at the top.

FAMILY CHAT
• Your family chat now carries your family's name and its own avatar.
• Each person's messages are in their own colour, and you can react to a message by holding it.
• More avatars to choose from, for children and grown-ups.

ALSO
• Someone you invite now signs up straight into your family.
• The red dot only shows when there's something you haven't seen.
• Dark mode is back, under Settings.
• Read what's new any time, at the top of Activity.
