### 3/5 — Not compatible with Passwords

*2026-05-19, version Version 3.2.11*

iOS 26.5, iPhone 17. Cannot create account using iPhone passwords. Must be a manual entry

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2025-08-18, version 3.2.7*

Do not know if this is in the works but I thought I would bring it up. It would be extremely helpful if on creating new foods if you would include in the nurturant fill in list carbs and cholesterol. A lot of people who have restricted Kidney Diets are also diabetic.

Thank you

### 4/5 — Informative

*2025-05-18, version 3.2.7*

I tried 2 week trial. I like the fact that it also gives phosphorus values, which are usually overlooked by common
Diet apps.

### 4/5 — Great app, outstanding support

*2025-05-13, version 3.2.7*

Wish they would offer a rate discount on multi year subscriptions

### 2/5 — Create an account

*2025-03-11, version 3.2.7*

I wanted to try the app to see if it had the features I needed.
Took the time to create an account.
Pointless since I didn’t know if it was what needed.

Developers should consider allowing users a trial before asking to create an account.

I entered oatmeal regular cooking.
It would let me customize the serving size it only provided 1 cup serving. I only had 1/4 cup. Not worth the effort in creating an account.

### 2/5 — What happened??

*2024-09-03, version 3.2.4*

This used to be a really great app for tracking my ckd nutrition. But a recent update has it very unstable. Many items come up with no portion size, you cannot add the portion size, and if you try to entdr that item into your diary, it crashes! What gives? Please fix this.

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2024-03-07, version 3.0.15*

Food data base very limited compared to other app which makes scanner limited

Cumbersome can’t see all daily nutrition unless email diary would be nice to see all days

Notice when you do scan a label sometimes information inaccurate compared to label

Serving and selection needs whole revamp does not my sense to 1 arugula leaf should be more break down choices for an item too much converting

### 4/5 — Great app

*2024-02-17, version 3.0.15*

Easy to use and very helpful. Would like to see protein on the nutrichart screen.

### 2/5 — Difficult to use

*2024-02-17*

The app measures food sometimes in grams, sometimes in cups and sometimes in ounces, and the measurement choices seem to be completely arbitrary. For instance, crackers are measured in grams, not pieces. Tap water is measured in specific units (16.9 oz for example) not by the single ounce. This makes it very difficult to gauge what you’re eating. Also the variety and quantity of branded foods are really lacking. It’s too bad because this is the only app I’ve found to track daily totals. The app definitely needs refining.

### 2/5 — Search too hard

*2024-01-31*

This is an OK app but it doesn’t have half of what I’m looking for as far as food selections especially if it’s restaurants. And too many times it’s telling me that what I’m trying to get in there the box will have higher values than what they’ve got in their app, so why bother putting it in the app. overall it’s help me so far but I’m looking for a new app that’s better as far as food options. Too bad they can’t get the same database that the app Lose It! has because it has 99% of what I’m looking for.

**Developer response:** Linny, we focus on providing research-grade, comprehensive nutrients. This is important for people with kidney disease who watch phosphorus and water intake as well as other nutrients that many apps do not provide. When you get a warning, it is because the food manufacturer or restaurant has not provided nutritional information that you may need. We do have hundreds of thousands of foods in our database. We are sorry you can't find what you are seeking. We can help you make searching easier. There are tips on our website or you may contact us directly at info@kidneydiet.com.

### 4/5 — helpful app, 1 suggestion

*2023-11-03*

What would be a huge help is to see a list of diary foods with phosphorus, potassium, protein, sodium, water, calories visible for each. Could launch from the daily measure screen. It would really help us learn what food is pushing the totals high or low for each measure. The app in general is very helpful and easy to use once a person learns their way around. Favorites is a very nice feature.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking time to use and review KidneyDiet. Please see this tutorial as it may address your issue: https://youtu.be/qeiOcceIgBY. If you still have questions, please contact us at info@kidneydiet.com

### 4/5 — Potassium levels

*2023-10-21, version 3.0.15*

I like the fact that it subtracts from one’s daily allowances and shows when one goes over the required numbers. I like it so much that I’m willing to subscribe. How does one do that since your app is not allowing it?

### 3/5 — Need to be able to delete food from favorites

*2023-09-18*

When simply reviewing a Food for nutrition, it is automatically added to the favorite screen under suggestions. Once there it cannot be removed. Additionally, there seems to be a limit on how many foods can be added to that screen.
Need the ability to delete foods from the favorite screen that I am not interested in anymore. Additionally, simply looking up a Food to look at its nutritional Content should not automatically be added to that screen without confirming first.
Second suggestion when you scan a barcode, it comes up with the nutrition information. Many times it is different than what is on the package.
Allow the ability to manually add /delete /update items to the nutrition list so that when they are added to the diary, the daily totals are correct.
And one case of food I was scanning came up on the app and said there was zero potassium. however, the package indicated that there was 127 g of potassium in the product. I should be able to go into the app and correct that entry so that I can have a correct calculation for my daily total.

**Developer response:** Foods do not automatically get added to favorites. You must have hovered your finger over the hollow heart which then added it to Favorites. This filled the heart red. To remove from favorites, simply press the heart again and the food will be removed. You may reach us directly at info@kidneydiet.com.

### 2/5 — Wrong wrong wrong

*2023-06-25, version 3.0.15*

Disappointed! Right after I set up my account and entered my first food item, Oatmeal, and what comes up is a whole string of oatmeal COOKIES!! If I had eaten oatmeal cookies, I would have entered oatmeal cookies. Then when I went to enter the serving size I had for oatmeal, it’s in grams! I don’t want to have to look up how many grams a half a cup is! Maker of this app, please go back to the drawing board.

### 4/5 — Does not track sugar

*2023-05-30, version 3.0.13*

It handles everything, but I need to track sugar too.

I can’t find a place to add that.

### 3/5 — Limited food recognition

*2023-05-29, version 3.0.13*

I liked this app until I entered a wrong item by mistake and couldn’t find a way to delete it. If there is a way to do that the app isn’t very user-friendly because it’s not evident. The delete “trash can” was only there for the one custom item I had most recently entered.

The app didn’t find a lot of the food items I was looking for. They are items that are readily available in most grocery stores.

Also if you enter a custom item you do not always know the amount of certain things (like phosphorous for example) or other amounts because the food nutritional information on the packaging doesn’t list it. The app won’t let you enter the item without all nutritional categories filled in. (You get a red message saying the amount is required) So it forces you to guess at and add a random amount just so that you can add the item with the information you do have.

I am on the lookout for a better app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2026-06-14, version Version 3.2.11*

It won’t let me in past user name and password even after I verified my email address.

### 1/5 — No help

*2024-12-17, version 3.2.7*

None of my simple regular foods show up n it wants me to manually put everything in there if i need to do that then Y do i need the app? Phos isn’t always in that name n i know peanut butter has that but on the label it doesn’t it! USELESS if you ask me

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-04-03, version 3.0.15*

The bar code scanner isn’t working - says can’t scan QR code, even though it’s labeled as a bar code scanner and when you do add a food the app crashes if you click the “see all nutrition” or “add to diary” buttons.

### 1/5 — Would be great but can’t log in

*2023-08-06, version 3.0.15*

This is the second kidney diet app I’ve tried that doesn’t work. Maintenance is required! Booooo!

### 1/5 — Tracking difficulty

*2023-04-18, version 3.0.13*

I signed up for this app d/T recent diagnosis of CKD the app looked like I could benefit from monitoring potassium protein & phosphorus
I tried to record daily foods-this is too complicated & time consuming. Not a good way to search foods-I also tried to cancel & have not been able to. Sorry but I am very disappointed

### 1/5 — Upseller

*2022-10-27, version 3.0.13*

You can see a few things that seem to be helpful, but you cannot test drive the app. If I had been able to see what was available, I might have purchased this, but all you see is “click here to upgrade”. I have CKD, and diet plays a part of that, but this app won’t help anyone, because if it was a great app, they could easily provide a week trial, and we would try it and buy it.

### 1/5 — Robert

*2014-09-29, version 2.4*

Not suitable for Australia as Australian foods are not listed.

### 1/5 — Terrible interface

*2012-12-28, version 2.4*

Interface is terrible for older people. Takes too long to enter meals and doesn't save common combinations. Also doesn't even save previous days' diet. Only let's you email it.

### 1/5 — Delete restaurants

*2012-10-20, version 2.4*

Applebee's, McDonalds
and Popeye's? Who in their right mind with bad kidneys would set foot in there? Sorry I paid for this.

Review.2
Still dumbfounded. This app is not a guide for an optimal kidney diet. I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Don't waste your money

*2012-04-16, version 2.3*

I should have listened to other reviewers. I figured I ate simple food and use the USDA as a resource so thought this program would work for me. WRONG! Normal food like canned white albacore tuna is not listed. They do have raw, expensive tuna and a whole list of fast food selections (fast food is a definate no no for my food plan). I rated a one star because I am VERY disappointed in purchase.

The PLUS side. Program is easy to use. If I could enter my own food, like in the Fat Secret App, and have it calculate the necessary nutrients, I would rate this app a 5 star.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for navigating a CKD diet

*2026-06-19*

I just started using this app and am so glad I found it. It has been so good at helping me plan/shop for foods that fit within the CKD guidelines. Food tracking is pretty easy too.
My only wish is that the Search feature was a little improved. Sometimes I’ve searched and gotten no results but when I enter the key words in another order, I get results. Not a deal killer just a wishlist item.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the feedback and will continue to work to make KidneyDiet better.

### 5/5 — Game changer❤️❤️❤️

*2025-10-04*

This app is a game changer for eating with CKD. I had no idea there was so much potassium everyday foods. I also had no idea how much protein I was consuming. With the Kidney Diet app I am able to stay within the guidelines and my health and well-being is improving. Take the two week trial and if you like me, you will pay for a whole year within about 10 days because this is a must have a app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the great review!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-09-19, version 3.2.7*

I have struggled for almost a year trying to understand/figure out a kidney diet for stage 3. This app is an answer to a prayer. I LOVE it!!!

### 5/5 — Recent CKD 3 diagnosis

*2025-05-27, version 3.2.7*

Recent diagnosis and this app is well worth The yearly cost as it seems to be the best to help me stay within my limits for the three “Ps” if changing my diet will help me slow the CKD I am happy to have this app.

### 5/5 — Live successfully

*2025-05-26, version 3.2.7*

What could be a scary and overwhelming diet has become progressively easier thanks to this wonderful app! Thanks and hats off!

### 5/5 — Good kidney diet tracker

*2024-10-18, version 3.2.7*

KidneyDiet allows me to track nutrients that could affect my kidneys. I especially like breakdown it provides for plant based and animal based protein content of my diet.

### 5/5 — Ed Nuber

*2024-10-17, version 3.2.7*

Makes it so easy to track my diet and stay on my KidneyDiet. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Great customer service

*2023-10-27*

I recently wrote a scathing review because this app stopped working after I got a new iPhone. I had paid for a year’s subscription but only got to use it for 3 months. I contacted Apple support to report the problem & requested a refund. The Kidney Diet support team called me to try to resolve the issue. At this time am able to at least look up nutritional composition of foods for my dialysis patients which is all I need at this time. The representative was so helpful and kind. I truly appreciated her willingness to resolve the problem

**Developer response:** We are sorry to hear you had trouble. You can always reach us at info@kidneydiet.com. Or, contact us through our website or via the App Store App Support link on our listing.

### 5/5 — Really Great

*2023-09-04*

I was diagnosed over 4 years ago and have been using three different apps trying to keep track. Downloaded this app and couldn’t be happier. The fact that I can keep track of everything in one place is amazing. The diary is easy to keep. Foods are easy to find. I was able to look up foods and add to my totals easily. I’m absolutely excited to finally have a solution to the anxiety of trying to find numbers for the dreaded 3 Ps. Phosphorus, Potassium and Protein are shown first and so easy to track. Thank you so much.

**Developer response:** Ginnytina, thank you for the great review. We are so glad to hear KidneyDiet is helpful.

### 5/5 — If you have CKD…

*2023-05-23*

If you have CKD you need this to track your daily intake! You can enter your own limit of phos, sodium potassium, calories and protein. It subtracts it from your daily intake which we appreciate so much! The only thing is that it has an outdated look.. pictures would have been a nice addition and editing the amount of serving of an item (maybe I just haven’t figured it out, its just a preset setting of certain servings) but it does it’s purpose which we appreciate the developer very very much. May Allah bless you in this life and in the next.✨💕🤲

**Developer response:** Lunaanahata, thank you for the great review! We appreciate the feedback. There is a scrolling list of serving sizes when available and also the ability to edit the amount of the serving to be a fraction of or greater than one serving. Please feel free to contact us directly at info@kidneydiet.com.
