HOW IT WORKS

Choose three photos from your day.
Add a few words — or pick from a library of more than two hundred.
Kigo lays them out on real washi paper, and you have a card to keep or share.

In Japanese, kigo means season word — the one small detail that tells you what time of year it is. Every haiku carries one. You already notice them. Kigo just gives you somewhere to put them.

I’m Nori, a photographer in Tokyo. Twenty-five years behind the camera.

What I love is keeping a record of ordinary days as they change, and of the small things that move something in me.

When I photograph something, I look for the one part that says the most about it — the place where it is most itself. That’s what I want you to see.

A haiku does the same thing with words: everything unnecessary taken out, until only the one thing is left. Photographs and haiku belong together. That’s why I made Kigo.

You don’t need to be a photographer. You don’t need to know anything about haiku.


ABOUT YOUR PHOTOS

Your photos are not used to train AI models — not ours, and not Google’s.

When you enhance a photo, it is sent to Google’s Gemini API so it can be read and adjusted, and it is not kept afterwards. We use the paid tier of that service, which means Google does not use it to improve its products or train its models.

If you subscribe, your finished photos and cards are saved in your album so you can come back to them. If you don’t, nothing is stored on our servers.
