## What is Kin?

Every family app helps you run the family business. Kin also helps you run the family.

One calm, beautiful place for everyone's week — and an assistant that helps protect the time that matters: time together.

TALK OR TYPE
• Say it naturally: “Dentist for Leo Tuesday 15:00” or “who can drive Maya Thursday?” Kin makes a clear plan for you to confirm.
• Import upcoming events from calendar accounts already on your iPhone, then add confirmed Kin plans back to your calendar.
• Or connect Google Calendar directly with Google's secure permission screen — no password in Kin.
• Share a school email or invite from the iOS share sheet and turn it into event proposals.
• Hands full? Say “Add to Kin” and tell Siri the plan, or ask “Who drives in Kin” on the way out the door.

PLAN THE WHOLE HOME
• One family calendar, a color per person, and clash warnings before they bite.
• Two homes: set week on/week off, 2-2-3, 2-2-5-5, 3-4-4-3 or alternate weekends once, and every day shows whose home it is. On handover days, Today says who goes where and when, with an optional reminder an hour before. Or just tell Ask: “We do 2-2-3 with Jonas, handover at 5.”
• Who drives: name the other parent who drives on an event, pick them from Contacts or type the name and number in, and Call or Text them right from the event or from Today. The Lock Screen Live Activity says who's driving.
• Chores with rotations, points and streaks.
• Chores in Apple Reminders: turn it on once and today's chores show up in a Kin list, so the kids can tick them on an Apple Watch or ask Siri, and Kin marks them done. Your own reminders are never touched.
• Meals, shopping lists, routines and fair-share insights.

TOGETHER
• Golden hours: find windows when everyone is free.
• Activities matched to your family, season and energy.
• Turn a weekend or trip into a plan, packing list and day-by-day itinerary.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Local-first, no ads and no tracking.
• Your household stays on your device unless you choose Family Sync or the optional cloud helper.
• The private on-device assistant is always available — no account or API key required.

KIN FAMILY — OPTIONAL HOUSEHOLD UPGRADE
Kin Family adds direct two-way Google Calendar, more Ask (2,000 planning requests a month for the household), Family Sync without an account (with a Kin account, sync is free) and Wilma school automation in Finland.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-28

More custody rotations: 2-2-5-5 and 3-4-4-3 are now in the editor, with every day showing whose home it is. Carpool driver: name the other parent who drives, pick them from Contacts or type it in, and Call or Text them right from the event and Today; the Live Activity says who's driving.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-16

Two homes? Set a custody rotation (week on/off, 2-2-3, alternate weekends) and see whose home it is under every day, with handover times. On handover days, Today says who goes where and when, with an optional reminder an hour before. And ask Siri "What's on today in Kin", "Who drives in Kin" or "Add to Kin": the same three are ready in Shortcuts, Spotlight and on the Action button, no setup needed. New: today's chores can live in Apple Reminders, so a tick on your Apple Watch or a "mark it done" to Siri ticks it in Kin too.

Put "Add to Kin" in Control Center, on the Lock Screen or on the Action button: one tap and Kin is open, ready for the plan, the chore or the milk.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-14

Kin 1.0.1
• A shopping list that speaks US: "1 gal milk", "1 dozen eggs" and "2 cans tomato sauce" land as one tidy row, and repeat items merge instead of stacking.
• Re-planning the weekend now replaces its shopping instead of doubling it.
• Your first week: a short recap after seven days. Kin Family households also get Week in review, four weeks side by side with a suggested swap that evens out the load.
• Ask names its AI provider (OpenAI, or Google Gemini as a backup) in Settings, and only your question plus the household context it needs is sent.
• Steadier subscription loading and many small fixes.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-13
