KinderSmart is an attendance tracking solution for iPhones for parents dropping children off at childcare providers. The application connects to the Controltec CenterTrack backend system, which is used by state and local government agencies to support subsidized childcare operations. The system registers a parent’s iPhone by scanning a QR code. The parent must be present in the CenterTrack host database. Once a registered parent enters the facility, he or she scans a QR code displayed at the facility, which essentially logs the parent into the system. Checking children in and out of care mimics the process done with pen on paper sign-in sheets, a process most parents are familiar with. Step 1 – Child Selection Once a user has scanned the QR code at the childcare provider, the list of children assigned to this user is displayed on the screen. Step 2 - Transaction The user performs the check-in or check-out transactions or transactions by indicating which child is checked in, checked out or absent by tapping the appropriate buttons on the screen. Then the user provides a signature and submits the record by tapping Submit. Step 3 - Confirmation The system confirms the transaction. After deleting rebooting and redownloading same issue has gone on for the past 6 months. I end up having to go onto my laptop to approve docs that were supposed to be easily and readily accessible with this app. Just another app on the phone for companies try to make you use that has zero efficiency for its users. Wouldn’t recommend this for Kindercare operations across the board. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2022-06-02* This is a terrible app. The back button often overlaps the time on the top left of the screen, making it extra hard to go back to the previous screen. There is no way to track what you did, so it’s useless in that sense, because you can’t even see your log history. It doesn’t fit the purpose of a logging app if your can’t have access to what you did or even to check if your check in/out went through or not. Such a frustrating experience. ### 2/5 — Slow, will not scan *2021-10-22* It’s a very basic app so not sure why it takes forever to scan the QR code to sign in/out of daycare. I have to stand there trying to scan for almost a minute sometimes. Other parents have the same issue and a line builds. Needs some sort of update to address this. Otherwise, it works. Just a pain to use. ### 1/5 — Frustrating app *2021-06-09* This is my first time using this app and it was working for me about a week until my child’s school needed me to create a digital signature. That’s when it stopped working for me. It’s very frustrating when I can’t add a note or even get out of a note. **Developer response:** Thank you for your review, we apologize for the experience you have had. The best way to resolve this would be to call the support line at 833-866-1706 then select option 9 for support. They will gladly assist you with this issue. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2020-10-20, version 2.1.82* Always get an error message about the clock on my phone not being in sync with the app. I wasn’t even aware the clock on an iPhone could be changed!! **Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Please double check that you have downloaded the app that corresponds to the state you live in. That is the usual cause of the message you are receiving. If you confirm that you have the correct version of the app and are still receiving this error, please do not hesitate to give our support line a call and we will gladly troubleshoot this issue with you and get it resolved. Though it should not be required, if you wish to check your iPhone clock settings you can access them by clicking on the Settings app , then select General from the menu, and finally select the Date & Time option. ### 1/5 — Never worked for me more than twice *2020-08-06* I don’t seem able to make it work. I updated my iPhone XR and downloaded many times the CA app, registered my phone many times, to no avail. The frustrating thing is that the Ohio app works perfectly fine. The California one is newer but the bugs are there for me. It may be my phone because other phones work, but why other versions work?
