### 2/5 — Videos won’t play in iOS app

*2026-07-02, version 5.3.3*

Audio works, but not video

### 2/5 — “Working on updates” for 3 years now.

*2026-04-22, version 5.3.3*

The very core basics seem to work. I can add my credit and pay. The lack of Apple Pay is unfortunate, but it doesn’t affect my rating. After 3 years, I still can’t see my transaction history. They’ve been “adding new features as fast as possible” since we started using the app almost 3 years ago. My son is going to be out of daycare before any actual updates happen.

### 2/5 — Updates keep breaking being logged in

*2025-11-14, version 5.3.0*

Constantly getting logged out most of the time when I opened the application, it’s very annoying, having to log into the app numerous times throughout the day. For the most part of the functionality is useful, but the authentication issues causes major problems

### 3/5 — Video downloads not working

*2025-07-08, version 5.0.1*

Video downloads don’t work anymore…

### 1/5 — Biometric Login removed????

*2025-05-23, version 4.1.10*

Why would you remove the biometric login? So the app is no longer an app and needs to be used via a browser, coz that is where it’s redirecting! Horrible!

### 1/5 — New update is horrible!

*2025-05-23, version 4.1.10*

Why did you get rid of biometric sign in? Now I need to manually type in a 12 character update every time I want to view a classroom update. You don’t even have password saving. So annoying! Brightwheel has it all over you guys.

### 2/5 — Biometric login gone

*2025-05-21, version 4.1.9*

Why did you remove biometric login?? If the app has logged me out it’s super inconvenient to fumble with a password while doing drop off. Please fix!

### 1/5 — Wish our daycare used another app

*2025-05-21, version 4.1.9*

Horrible app and the support staff are useless. Every update gets worse and worse

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-05-20, version 4.1.9*

Whatever the latest update did already made a useless app even more useless. At least before I was able to navigate and had biometric sign in.

### 1/5 — Update killed app

*2025-05-20, version 4.1.8*

This app was working perfectly fine until two days ago; the update destroyed the functionality of the app, for not just myself but several other hundred parents who use it. Please get this fixed.

### 1/5 — Why would they remove Face ID?

*2025-05-20, version 4.1.8*

Removing Face ID, and redirecting to the stupid website to login increases login time Unnecessarily. What a dumb idea. Clearly no one in QC bothered looking.

### 1/5 — Yuck

*2025-05-20, version 4.1.8*

Having used another app before this one, this one stinks! It is so hard to stay logged in, have had to reset my password more than several times since starting to use it just a few months ago. And the updates are horrible. Messages come through strangely. Sending messages to teachers is awful - my husband and I can’t see each other’s messages. And billing is horrible.

### 1/5 — Awful user experience

*2025-05-19, version 4.1.8*

This app makes me want to switch out of my current daycare. Awful experience across the board.

### 1/5 — It was bad but after latest update it is worse

*2025-05-19*

This was not a great app, but had to update it today since it stopped working now I can not get to the menu once logged in, this is really not user friendly, I really hope our daycare provider will get a new app or switch back to their previous once since this is just bad.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2025-05-19, version 4.1.8*

This is seriously one of the most inefficient and inconvenient apps I’ve ever been forced to use. My child’s daycare switched from brightwheel to this app when they were bought over and it’s been one of the biggest strains in our relationship with the daycare because it is basically dismantled communication. We can no longer make our payments on the app. I have to go on a desktop now. I’m constantly being locked out of the account and having to update my password. There is a constant lag on notifications and postings between the app and my push notifications. I had payments charged without my consent, even though I did not enroll in auto pay. It’s a shame we couldn’t stick with Brightwheel when it worked so smoothly. It feels like we downgraded from Apple to Windows 1997.

### 2/5 — Needs Work

*2025-05-19, version 4.1.8*

Coming from using a different app (brightwheel), this app leaves much to be desired. That said, some relatively simple key improvements would bring up the functionality of this app from abhorrent to good enough

1. It would be so nice to stay logged in. It feels like the app is safety theater since if someone is already logged into my phone, they will likely be able to fill passwords from the keychain anyways
2. Notifications have options for text and email but not for app notifications. If this could be fixed, I’d be able to see the updates I actually care about and not go the whole day without updates since there is no point in my repeatedly logging in (point 1) for a high chance of no updates

I’d say more but I can’t navigate through the app for a full critique since the last update blocked most of the existing functionality by introducing new bugs by making the navigation menu inaccessible

### 1/5 — Buggy and unintuitive

*2025-05-08*

Really hate this app for following my child’s activities at daycare but our center switched to this when their administration changed. The “remember me” setting doesn’t even stay toggled on and I wind up signing back in over and over again on most days. What a waste of time. There are multiple ways to view the same information and some don’t make sense. Good luck viewing your billing history. It has to be done on a desktop browser. Would absolutely not recommend.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-04-11, version 4.1.5*

Always making updates and changes. Functionality should be seamless. Must be the cheapest version for centers to use and that’s unfortunate.

### 2/5 — Need major changes

*2025-04-04, version 4.1.3*

The pictures are the worst, you don’t see the whole thing unless you click into it. In order to see the next one you have to get out and go back in.
Notifications don’t say what they are, so you have to search for something that might be new, making it really easy to miss messages until we figured that out. Messages don’t show the whole thread, you have to go back and forth between inbox and sent to see the whole thing. And my husband and I have to use the same login, so sending messages looks like it’s all from the same person.
Also just general slowness with the sign in and out process.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2026-03-25, version 5.3.2*

I have been using this app for my kiddo's daycare but it is really not very well maintained, there has been multiple times the app stoped functioning, the latest is that it takes me 3 tries to sign into the app to check in on my kid. It is slow and generally frustrating to work with compared to other apps I have used.

### 1/5 — Need actual “hands free” sign in and biometrics don’t work

*2026-03-19, version 5.3.2*

We are having to sign in using the “hands free” option but in reality it not hands free at all, as we have to scan a QR code that’s on our phone on the iPad at the school and then complete a few questions on the school iPad. The parent portal should have a QR scanner to scan a QR code on the iPads app, to sign in via our own cellular devices. On top of that it seems that every time I go to sign in, my Face ID isn’t working. And it makes me manually sign in with a user name and password every time.

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2025-09-19*

This app is trash. I have gone through a few different daycare apps as a parent and this is by far the worst, the settings are awful, there are so many issues and it can’t even keep you signed it. Even if you choose those settings. Every time there are updates there are new issues to manage. Awful.

### 1/5 — Logging out after every use

*2025-09-10, version 5.2.0*

Why?

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2025-08-19, version 5.1.0*

The app doesn’t remember the login and I have to fill in the password every time! The video download doesn’t work. Terrible functionality.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-07-24, version 5.1.0*

Our daycare switched over to this app after 6 years of using a different one (that we never had problems with). We’ve had this app for 6+ months now and is terrible. Would not recommend. Some days I have to log in multiple times a day and other times I cannot click on features within the app. I even directly reached out to Kindertales and told them the countless problems me and me and every other parent I’ve talked to has. They told me I needed to adjust my settings and update my app. Things I’ve already done and check regularly. The problem is not me and the other parents the problem is the app. It’s like I’m trying to use an app built in 2005 and they refuse to update. DO NOT RECOMMEND

### 1/5 — Seriously

*2025-07-23, version 5.1.0*

Hello app team and product managers - the latest update constantly signs you out. This basically makes the app functionally useless. For crying out loud please figure out persistent login.

### 1/5 — Password reset not working / Biometric sign on disabled

*2025-05-30, version 5.0.1*

Please fix this problem … experiencing for the past few weeks. I cannot access my day care providers notices as the password reset doesn’t work…. Not worth using until these fixes are implemented

### 1/5 — Frustrating update

*2025-05-28, version 5.0.1*

For starters, accessing documents to print from my child’s daycare is a PITA. It requires visiting the website via desktop to even view the documents. Even in my mobile browsers “view desktop page” mode, it will not allow you to view tax document information.

More so, my wife and I share the same account for our child. When either of us signs in to check updates, it constantly requires entering the username and password to log into the app..Every…Single…Time, whether my phone or hers. At one point, it required resetting the password.

### 1/5 — Login disaster

*2025-05-28, version 5.0.0*

This is awful. Used to be able to login with Face ID, then they took it away. Was able to still login with it remembering the login info, but they eventually removed that too. Now I have to manually log in every time and it’s super frustrating and annoying. Sometimes it doesn’t even load.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-05-13, version 5.3.3*

The app works perfectly fine for the most part. Does log me out sometimes but the biometrics help get in soon.

### 5/5 — Neat app

*2023-04-05, version 3.7.0*

Really love getting the live updates on what’s happening and other features the app offers. Only drawback I would suggest is the messaging tool. It’s decent but can use an improvement.

### 5/5 — Very useful.

*2019-02-16, version 2.3*

The best application I've ever used. Very useful.

I’m regret not downloading this app earlier. How amazing it is!

### 5/5 — Good

*2019-02-16, version 2.3*

My son used to regularly cut his class until I install Kindertales. This app is very beneficial for parents like me to keep your children well behave.

### 5/5 — Wow. Awesome tool

*2019-02-16, version 2.3*
