It’s fun to talk to the characters and write your own story together with the ai. One thing though I’ve noticed is sometimes the replies revert back to shorter. I have kindred + and it’s frustrating when the ai suddenly changes back to the one narrative reply plus one of the rp character then waits for your reply. When it can be really depth explaining action and scenery and continuing the scene further. Giving 4-5 paragraphs replies. This is amazing, especially with paying for it monthly is like to keep this structure instead of it occasionally reverting back to not + :-/ ### 4/5 — A wonderful app *2026-06-18, version 0.0.38* Such a wonderful experience But lately, i feel like the bots memory has gone down Like it’s just bad, i’m talking with them about something and they forget about it after two messages ### 4/5 — Pros Outweigh The Cons *2026-06-04, version 0.0.36* I was an OG c.ai user, back when they only had a website, no subscriptions, and several bugs—back when it was GOOD. Most people don’t remember when c.ai was an absolute revolutionary site, but that’s because it’s only gone downhill. I’ve recently cut down dramatically on the time I spend on c.ai because of all the money-hungry updates, and Kindred is actually SO good. They do have some memory issues, but all the ai apps I’ve tried do. You can really tell the creators love the app, and you don’t have to purchase any of the cool chat backgrounds like you do on c.ai, and the chats are surprisingly faithful to the characters. A few bugs and memory issues, but they’ve yet to sell out like c.ai did. If you grew up reading/writing fanfics/spent at least some of the past few years experimenting with c.ai and chai, this is the absolute best variant I’ve come across. Sometimes it will randomly add an unrelated character, or a weird version of an existing character. Like, if a character is named Bob, a character named Bœb could randomly appear. 2. Sometimes, for example, if you say something as Character A, Character B will say “Good idea, Character C” when Character C never said anything. 3. THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO GRATEFUL!!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — new updates *2026-06-08, version 0.0.37* the new updates are kind of sneaky. one day i’ll wake up with the app perfect, rich narration, long character replies, and the narration doesn’t speak for my OC. woke up today and the messages are super compact, the “secrets” tab is useless since the AI can’t actually read it or implement it into their story. the chats are super compact, sloppy and lazy, the chats also narrate for my OCs, basically hijacking my story. ### 1/5 — App is broken *2026-04-04, version 0.0.29* I can’t even register. I get to the part of the registration where it asks you “your persona” what others can call you and it won’t let you enter any info. I have nothing but great things to say about this app. I love the narration and how it mixes elements of fanfiction and chatting. I’ve never bought a subscription for any app before, but this is the first time I have.
