The newest update with “recently viewed” is so much handier than previous versions. Just wish the app was linked to my very full recipe box on the website. Also longing for when the oven temp is posted prior to the ingredients list. So annoying to have to read thru the instructions to find that info every time. I keep getting an error message ### 1/5 — So many problems *2026-04-17* Well, I was so very excited when this app came out because I use King Arthur recipes a lot. However, this app was/is not ready for release. For one, the app ‘checks’ for updates on a regular basis, during which it resets everything. So, if you are making a recipe and come back after an hour or two, you know, like you might do with any bread or many other recipes that require a rest, the app resets and your recipe goes away! Okay, so just add to your favorites and it will be easy to pull back up, right? Wrong! The ‘add to favorites’ option is broken!! It fails every time from the app. Fine, I’ll just go to the website to add it to my favorites, then pull it up in the app, right? Wrong! Once you install the app, links in King Arthur emails and almost always (but not always?) on the website, automatically redirect to the app 😖 And here is the kicker, if you navigate through these problems and manage to get something into your favorites, guess what? The search feature for your favorites is broken! It always says there are no matches. So, when the app checks for an update and leaves your recipe in the middle of preparation, you have to scroll… and scroll…and scroll to find your recipe again, with the knowledge you are going to have to do it all over again the next time you are ready for the next step. It is painfully obvious that employees at King Arthur do not use this app when making recipes, so why should we? So disappointing from a company that sells themselves as more in touch with their customers than the giant corporations!! To be honest, this app has severely damaged my opinion of, and loyalty to, King Arthur products and recipes. I suggest passing on this app until they figure out how to make one with features that actually help a baker rather than just lead to frustration. ### 1/5 — Great in theory, lousy in execution *2026-01-01* I really wanted to love this, but there are so many issues that I can’t fathom how it made it out of beta testing. Others have described the issue with recipe limits and the phenomenally annoying prompts to allow notifications every fricking time you open the app. The other fatal flaw is the timer. I set the timer for a series of four alerts to stretch and fold my dough. The first one went off without a hitch. Then it seemed like a long time passed without the second alert. I opened up the app, had to confirm notifications again, only to find the remaining three timers were gone. I took care of the dough and set two more. The first one worked, but when I went in to find the final one, I got the notifications alert and the timer was gone. I gave up and deleted the bloody app. **Developer response:** Hi Ork8. Thank you so much for giving us this feedback. That must have been super frustrating. We were not aware of this timer bug, and we will work with our developers to get that fixed ASAP. I can’t even sign into my existing account, and that’s after resetting it. Fix it, dudes! ### 1/5 — Annoying request to allow notifications *2025-12-12, version 0.1.52* I like the convenience of the app because I use KA recipes a lot. But every time I open the app it asks me to enable notifications. When I decline it will ask again. I even went so far as to enable notifications, then disable, and it still continues to prompt me to enable notifications. Very annoying. ### 1/5 — Needs work *2025-11-23, version 0.1.47* Just found the app and was super excited. Saved a bunch of recipes to my recipe box yesterday, and opened the app today and they’re all gone. I have an account. It should at minimum be able to save what I want to save. 😞 ### 2/5 — Good but not great yet *2026-06-02* Update - I wrote this in Feb and it’s not fixed yet. It actually makes it so difficult to bake with this app if you have to remember the exact name of the recipe and type it in and search every time! If I leave the app for 2 min, I completely lose the recipe I was working on. ——— Pretty handy but really needs a way to pull up most recently-viewed recipes. If I leave the app I lose the recipe I was looking at or working on and have to search for it again. Other recipe apps (ATK, NYT, Epicurious) all have this function. **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. Both of those features are on the short-list to fix and add. Happy Baking - Jordan @ KAB ### 2/5 — Too much rigamarole *2026-01-11, version 0.1.59* Just deleted this app as the startup process involves 10 seconds to load, then telling it I don’t want to set up an account, and then trying to give a tour of the app. The recipes can’t be exported to paprika from the app, and there isn’t a readily apparent way to open recipes on a browser. The website is better. ### 2/5 — App needs work *2025-12-15* I love KAF and the recipes. But two major issues with the app: 1) it doesn’t show all of the recipes that you save to your recipe box. If you search for the recipe again, it’s tagged as saved, but won’t show up. 2) it prompts you to allow notifications every time you use the app. If you say “maybe later”, it will just keep asking until you give up and say yes. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We are aware of the 20 recipe limit in the recipe box and hope to have a fix for that very soon. We will look to dial back the notifications box, I can imagine that was frustrating.
