You will constantly play against guaranteed losses without a chance. Very frustrating. If you aren’t going to nerf some of the Legendary characters, don’t match them with non-legendary decks. More balance is needed. ### 2/5 — Missed potential *2026-08-29, version 1.18.1* I’ve played Kingdom Rush Battles for many hours, in anticipation for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis. The bones are there for this type of game. Unfortunately, it suffers from exactly the same pitfalls that similar games have. It is pay to win, of course, and the only thing I recommend paying for is the season pass, since you get by far the most for your money. The winner is almost always going to be the player who has more legendary towers, heroes, and spells. The worst thing about it is that once you’ve advanced so far with the build that has all the legendary towers, you’re stuck playing that ONE specific build forever, unless you want to lose every single match going forward. For example, Vez’nan is the most powerful hero by FAR, and I have gotten very high ranked. BUT, my favorite hero is Dierdre, but I can no longer play as her or any other hero unless I want to lose each match immediately. Basically, there’s a missed opportunity to just make ALL towers, heroes, and spells legendary by giving a paid option for EVERYTHING to “upgrade to legendary”, so that there’s immense build variety. It made for a fun 10 hours or so of play time, after that, you’re stuck playing the same build over and over again unless you find losing fun. ### 3/5 — Pay to win *2026-08-24* I’ve been playing this game for a long time now. What used to be a really fun game where strategy and placement mattered has turned into a pay to win game. Since introducing their “seasons pass” which is monthly and costs $34.99 you get a premium character or tower. These towers or characters are OP. Now when you go up against people with these towers, which is pretty much every single person you’re guaranteed to lose. Such a shame as I have been playing for so many years even before they made these games into PVP, way back when it was just KR, frontier or origins. ### 2/5 — Cash grab… wasted potential *2026-08-21, version 1.18.1* The game is very well-designed like its predecessors… is what I WOULD say if they didn’t make it so that paying money just makes you overwhelmingly better than everyone else. Whenever I see someone with Vez’nan or some other insane hero, I just close the app because I know I’d be wasting my time by playing the game. It’s unfortunate that capitalism plagues even the best of games like Kingdom Rush. How far it has fallen. ### 2/5 — Pay to win unfortunately *2026-08-20, version 1.18.1* I have been a die hard fan of kingdom rush since they first started. I love their games but as a f2p player this game is not it. There really isn’t a point in playing when someone can just buy the stronger hero’s and towers. You need gold to upgrade the towers and hero’s but you barely get any if you win and you get even less when you lose. The developers keep making the game less strategic rather than more strategic. It’s like they’re designing the game for 12 year olds. I just upgraded two towers and paid $19 to upgrade a third, and guess what…. The upgrades didn’t translate to anything. So far today I’ve lost 7 out of 9 games to vastly superior opponents. Matched with people 10x your level. Every part of this game is designed to annoy you just enough to make you pay £50 for a single hero or tower, which isn’t even max level. Completely predatory.
