The learning model is good, but the actual course material is not the best if an expert in the field wrote it. I recently delved deep into the chess course to test the waters because chess was a subject that I knew a lot about. The advice for chess is mediocre in the first few lessons, and they use AI pictures that do not represent an actual chess match. A specific example that I can cite of the top of my head is the Scholar’s mate part in ‘mating patterns’: they advised 2…g6 to avoid 2.Qh5. This is how you lose a rook. They also do not give specific illustration on the difference between Arabian and Anastasia mate in that lesson. The chess course over all isn’t going to put good habits in a novice chess player. I do feel really bad for users of this app because they have a donation system now where people pay monthly for this AI slop. ### 4/5 — Great app, lots of room for improvement. *2026-08-14, version 10.53.3* First, I’d like to acknowledge the AI use. One of the first pathways I started had an AI image, and I started to have doubts. However, I explored other topics and found that they mostly use public domain images. I understand there is only so much they can do with copyrighting and images, so I can let it slide. Recently, I was working on learning about Greek Philosophy. As I got about 20% in, I got notified that the pathway has been updated and I would have to start over if I wanted to get the update. This is frustrating because 1.) I had to redo topics that didn’t change at all and 2.) I am now unsure if anything I am learning is 100% true, as they can get updated to be “more correct” at any moment. I really love the app and want to keep using it, but now it is hard because there is a chance what I am learning is incorrect. Besides that, I love the flow of everything and think the quizzes are a great idea. A big problem I have with the quizzes is they seem to be focused on unimportant facts or just the names of things I have learned. It’s a great help in recalling the name of an idea or person, but I struggle to actually explain what the topic is. ### 4/5 — Great app but content could be a bit better *2026-07-28, version 10.53.3* Just needs better wording for the textual content. Kinnu is currently free and is fantastic! I have other friends who pay for their micro learning apps and I think Kinnu is at least as good as their’s. The app is organized very well, it motivates you to continue to learn by granting you tiles of a map as you progress so you can see your progression along the way. I find the lessons to be very informative and have adapted some of the information to be used in my middle school English and Lit classes. It has also been very helpful in broadening my knowledge in the subjects I teach. While I can appreciate admitting to its use, I think it’s ridiculous to use AI to make a Venn diagram. Aside from the AI use, there are no sources cited or authors of lessons credited. Wish I’d deleted the app sooner. ### 1/5 — great but needs work *2026-03-06, version 10.52.0* a small amount of the content is incorrect, such as kinnu’s definition of human exceptionalism in the animal intelligence category. that topic also felt a little agenda pushy to me since it brought up a Christian teaching of how God gave humans dominion over animals, then tried to imply that this was an invalid hierarchy using their false definition of human exceptionalism lol. but in some other categories, the language remains unbiased, even when discussing sensitive topics such as religious beliefs. it just needs to be more consistent. (quick update like 2 years later: still has the wrong definition lol. human exceptionalism is NOT the belief that human beings are more intelligent than animals, it’s that humans different than them and more important.) technicality wise, the app is a little buggy. for most of the info i’ve already “strengthened” in the app, it stays there and remains as something i’m going to forget soon even if i had just practiced it. then i have to answer those same questions each and every time i go to do the daily refresher. i have like 20+ questions in there now that have been repeating for over a week which makes it difficult to check out the new topics because it’ll just crowd the refresher even more. ### 1/5 — Buggy, And Customer Service refuses to answer *2026-02-10, version 10.33.3* Some of the courses ain’t working I have sent several emails, and customer service has ignored them all. I was so excited learning on this app but a little bit of research showed me that the contents of this app are made with the assistance of generative AI. Other apps left me frustrated trying to remember which paths of learning I started and how to keep track. This just happens naturally without any efforts in Kinnu.
