## What is Kins?

Everyone took photos. Nobody looks at them again.

It happens every time. The group chat fills up, links get passed around, and the photos end up somewhere.

But no one opens them after that. Hundreds of shots in no order, and finding the one good picture means scrolling forever.
You collected them. Nothing came of it.

Kins isn't a place to pile up photos. It's an album you build together.

· Drop one link in the group chat and everyone comes in and fills it
· Everyone adds their own photos, and one album fills up together.
· Shoot with Kins Camera and Camcorder, then pick a film look for every shot
· Pick four and export them as one photo strip, ready to post

A trip, a club, a weekend hobby. Anywhere there were people with you, there's an album.

One link and you start today.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.1.0 — 2026-10-19

You can now send photos to Kins from other apps. Tap Share on a photo in Photos, a chat, or something that came in over AirDrop, pick Kins, choose the album, and you land right on the caption screen. Send several photos and videos at once if you like; they go up just as they are.

Every shot from the Kins camera now also saves the original, before any filter, to your Photos. You pick filters after you shoot, so the original is always there if none of them feels right. If you don't need the extra copy, turn it off in Kins Settings.

Getting to the Kins camera is quicker, too. "Open Kins Camera" now shows up in Shortcuts, Siri and Spotlight, so you can put it on the Action button or in Control Center. The help page on joinkins.com walks you through it.

Sharing has a new screen. Tap share on a photo or video from the camera, a post in an album, or a photo strip, and the card you're about to send shows up big first, with Instagram, X, Save and More right below it. Photos and photo strips go straight to your Instagram story. The card comes in Black, White or Photo color. Photo color takes two colors from your photo and fades one into the other from top to bottom, so every card comes out a little different. Kins remembers the color you picked for next time.

New post now opens full screen and always dark. While you pick, the preview shows the whole photo instead of cropping it. We took out the step where you picked a filter for each photo. Filters are in the Kins camera, where you add them as you shoot, and photos from your library go up just as they are. Pick your photos, write a line, and you're done.

The camera shutter now fires the moment your finger touches it. Before, it fired when you lifted your finger, and the phone could move a little in between. Capture is faster too, so you'll get fewer shaky shots.

Photo strip frames are redrawn to real print proportions. The tall strip is 2×6 inches and the 2×2 is 4×6, with room at the bottom for the Kins wordmark. And the short tour people see when they first open Kins now matches the app as it looks today.

Moving between home and the camera now follows your finger. Stop halfway and it stays halfway; let go and it settles on the closer side. The screen you see when Kins opens got a fresh look, and Kins now speaks Traditional Chinese (Taiwan).

### 3.1.0 — 2026-10-12

The home screen is new. A floating menu at the bottom takes you between the camera, your albums and your profile, and the notification bell now sits at the top right. Your latest album shows up big at the top, with the rest in a tidy two-column grid. Pin up to three albums you open often: tap the ⋯ next to an album's name or long-press it. Albums with new photos get a small red dot next to the name. Your profile got a redo too. Your photo is on the left, your post and album counts beside it, a short bio below, and everything you've posted is grouped by album.

Inside an album, tap Invite to copy the link, share it or show a QR code, all from one sheet. Sharing the link copies it as well, so you can paste it anywhere right away. Invited-only albums can now have a 6-digit entry PIN, so a forwarded link alone isn't enough to get in. And you no longer set dates when you make an album.

The Library button in the camera now picks photos or videos. Pick a video and it switches to the camcorder for you. The date stamp uses the date saved in your Photos app, or the photo file's own capture date if there isn't one, so photos friends send you show the day they were really taken. A few looks have new names: Miami, Honolulu, Paris, Dublin, Rome and New York. In the camcorder, the date is now pixel lettering the same size as on photos, and videos you save or share go out on the same 9:16 card as photos. Videos you post to an album carry no logo.

When you post, each photo can have its own look, or you can apply one to all of them. On posts you've already shared, a full-screen editor lets you fix the caption or take out photos you added.

### 2.3.0 — 2026-10-10

Kins has a new look. We redrew the icon and the logo, and if your phone is in dark mode, Kins now goes dark with it. New here? Kins walks you through the basics when you first open it.

We rebuilt Kins Camera from the ground up. There are 24 looks, inspired by old phones, film cameras and a few cities we love. After you shoot, drag the name row under your photo or swipe across it to pick a look. You never miss the moment, and you can change your mind any time. A date stamp with the day you took it can be turned on or off. Brightness, 1×, 2× and 3× zoom and the grid are right there, and there’s no shutter sound. Then save, post or share right away. The same looks work on photos from your library when you post.

There’s also Kins Camcorder now. Switch to it under the shutter to record up to three minutes, then spin through 13 looks made just for video, from a fisheye lens and a peephole view to a ’90s camcorder tape.

Photos you save or share go out as a card on black with a small Kins logo, and you can send them straight to your Instagram Story. Anything you post to an album stays exactly as you shot it. Photo strips get four new frames in Kins colors and share as just the frame on black. For your profile photo or an album cover, you can also pick from artwork we made.

Invite people with a link or a QR code. Next to a friend? Just show them your screen. You can also edit the caption on posts you shared. In public albums, admins can now change album settings just like the owner. Only the owner picks admins. Posts show just the person who shared them, and you can pull down on the home screen to refresh. Comments and likes in shared albums show up sooner, and we fixed profile photos that didn’t upload at sign-up. Deleting your account now asks you to type your handle to confirm, and logging out asks once more.
