This small but mighty app has made staying connected with friends feel not only doable but meaningful. With full access available for free, you can import contacts, track your conversation history, and set customizable fields for each person—everything from birthdays and phone numbers to favorite foods, allergies, and even what you have in common.

One of my favorite features is the ability to add personal notes that help me remember why someone is special to me or what we last talked about. It’s like a memory boost for your social life.

The homepage also offers curated prompts and ideas for thoughtful ways to connect—perfect for when you want to nurture a friendship but aren’t sure how. Whether you’re managing long-distance friendships or just trying to be more intentional, this app is a quiet little game-changer.

This is a great app - why? It’s not $100 a year, it’s simple, no dumb business card scanning, no limits, no crazy email connections etc.

How do I add a birthday directly in the app and have it show up as a special occasion every year?

Any date-type detail you add will automatically appear as a special occasion on your home screen unless you uncheck the default "notify me when it's coming up". 
This is also true for any dates under your imported contacts, whether birthdays, anniversaries, or any custom date in your iOS contacts.

Could definitely use the ability to have recurring events. When my contacts were imported, birthdays show up with the year of their birth, so those dates don’t show up as upcoming events. I have to go into each contract and change the year to 2021, and expect I’ll have to do that each year? :/
So great to manage both family/friends events AND clients all together.

About the birthdays for your imported contacts, Kinship automatically considers recurring dates if you use the "Birthday input field" in your native iOS Contacts app, so there is no need to change the year; they will show up as a card in your "Special Occasions" section on the home screen.

No longer are you shackled to arbitrary icons - pick or swap the best emoji for each detail with a simple tap on profile or detail edit screens.
