Which means it was a waste of money

Very misleading. It can not access the full content of newspaper just links. Waste of money.

It is ok to provide only covers but when they are outdated almost every day, or just blank covers sometimes, it seems that Kiosko.net is only interested on the one time small subscription fee. I would run much better this bussines.
