It has only one problem: there is no way to switch ingredients when converting a recipe. For example: I converted flour from cups to grams, now I want to convert sugar from cups to grams, there is no easy way to do it. I have to start from the beginning and select "from cups" then select "to grams" then select the ingredient. Since the ingredient is the last selection in the process it seems natural to just be able to back up to select a different ingredient. While working with an ingredient you can change measurements easily (from or to), but how many times are you going to change measurement amounts for the same ingredient within a recipe? Far more likely that you're going to change ingredients but keep the same measurements. The other issue is that the app has no support. Yes, there is a website, but the email address on the website isn't valid. ### 4/5 — By far the best cup to gram conversion app *2021-01-26* I’m a professional test and recipe chef. For precision I need to convert between cups and grams all day long. This app makes it much easier to do that. It has hundreds and hundreds of ingredient coefficients built in and you can add more as needed. It also handles percentage calculations super easy! If the developers include landscape mode in future, I’ll update my review. ### 4/5 — Very handy, but not what I was looking for *2019-10-17* When I went looking for a recipe scaling app, I wanted one where I could scale a recipe based on the amount for one specific ingredient. For example, today I baked a cheesecake, but I had extra cream cheese that I didn’t feel like wasting, so it would have been handy to find out how much more whipped cream/sugar/etc to add based on the amount of extra cream cheese. (11oz to 16, not something easily convertible) I was able to eventually figure it out, with this app even, but I was hoping for something a little simpler ### 4/5 — Good app, but needs a little work *2019-05-23* The interface is good and the information reliable. The only irritating issue is that, on an iPad particularly, the app cannot change its rotation as the iPad is rotated. If you always use your iPad in portrait mode, no problem; but if you use the iPad customarily in landscape mode as I usually do, then this failing quickly becomes annoying. ### 4/5 — Great Tool for Converting *2018-09-23, version 2.9.2* I have had this tool for quite awhile. Just realized that developer has added scaling & being able to add ingredients to the data base! Awesome... But, (I tried to get info from developer & email gets bounced. Hence, this review. It would be even better if you figured out how to allow landscape mode on both the iPad & iPhone. In the baking world it's almost a must have. Would have been five stars if it did. ### 5/5 — Great Kitchen Converter App!!!! *2017-08-30* I was looking for a replacement for another app I used for conversions and stumbled upon this gem. It's much easier and more user friendly than the other app who's developers thought so little of their end users they scrapped the updates because they had bigger fish to fry. I love this app because I work in a professional kitchen and do conversions all day. This app makes it easier which will only improve my productivity. The other day I went to use this app and it crashed. I figured I’d let it go for a day or so to fix itself. Today I went to use it and it still crashes right after it opens. ### 1/5 — Not supported in IOS 14 *2020-11-12, version 2.9.2* I went to open this app yesterday and it won’t open in the new operating system, IOS 14. Are there any plans to update it so that it’s compatible with the current IOS? I really loved this app. 😢 ### 1/5 — Doesn’t scale recipes *2019-12-27, version 2.9.2* I was expecting this would quickly scale my recipes to smaller or larger servings. There are better free ones out there. Don’t buy. ### 1/5 — Poor design good calculator *2017-06-28* I purchase the app after reading the reviews and I do not recommend it. It does the math but the design is so poor that it makes it impossible to enjoy it and do what you really need it to do. I wanted to add a recipe and then ask the app to increase the number of servings. The app does not do that, it takes the ingredient and converts it, but only one at a time. I feel I paid money for a calculator that is not only in my mind, but also free in the internet. I was hopping the app would take the entire recipe with the number of servings and then Increase the amount of each ingredient according to the number of servings required. I make about 200 muffins at once and struggle each time to get just the right amount of ingredients to avoid left overs. ### 1/5 — I assumed it would convert recipes *2017-06-15, version 2.8* I bought this hoping I could enter favorite recipes and scale them up or down and save them. This is strictly for one at a time conversation. Maybe you can save one ingredient, but if there is a way for a whole recipe I couldn't find it after trying 30 minutes. If you're not, it too complicated. 1) Not updated in almost 3 years. 2) it doesn't really handle recipes. It just remembers a constant to use over and over. 3) No meats in the database. The negative review almost put me off…..but this was dead wrong! A great application. The negative reviewer…should be ashamed. ### 5/5 — Does not work with ios 14 *2020-11-02, version 2.9.2* Great app, crashes everytime i try to open in ios 14, real bummer. ### 5/5 — International recipes! *2020-02-09* This is a great app for converting international recipes that are written in different units from what you are used to or from what your ingredients come in. This is NOT the app you want if you want to halve or quadruple an entire recipe at once. (The excellent Paprika recipe manager app has this feature within it.) With this app, you have to go amount by amount, ingredient by ingredient. So for instance, I like to cook British recipes but I am American, so I need to know how to turn grams of butter into tablespoons. Note this is not a simple unit conversion but requires going from mass/weight to volume. You can do this with in the app by choosing grams under the mass menu, tablespoons under the volume menu, and then selecting butter as your ingredient where it already has the built-in weight to volume ratio for butter. If your ingredient is not included within the app, you can also add ingredients! If you make a recipe often, I would note down in your cookbook or enter into your app the amounts in your preferred unit so you don’t have to perform the calculations again next time. :) ### 5/5 — Accurate *2018-12-06* I prefer to measure recipes by weight rather than volume. This app makes it much easier to do the conversions. I wish, like other reviewers, you could keep the conversion amount (cups to grams, for example) and just change what you’re measuring instead of starting over each time. ### 5/5 — Feature request - Change ingredient without starting over *2018-09-28* I've tried emailing the developer but it bounces back. So maybe they'll see my request, here. This is a great app but I wish they would make one improvement: I often convert several ingredients using the same measurement. E.g. cups to grams. It's easy enough to switch between units but the only way to change the ingredient is to start completely over. This is tedious and time consuming.
