### 3/5 — Alarm sound seems to be working again

*2020-01-11*

Update: After the developer replied with a very defensive and passive-aggressive retort to my review, I tried the app again.

His/her response - "You are the first person to complain about something like this. Clearly, there is no such problem for anybody else."

I was not the first person to complain that the alarms were not audible unless having the app running in the foreground. If you look at the reviews, there are 3-4 people saying the exact same thing I said. I’ve had the app for years and it used to work, then it stopped working.

I just tested it again and it seems to be working so I’m updating my review.

To the developer - Unless you are a 12-year-old, I suggest you take the information in these reviews as constructive feedback and maybe look into their complaints. Instead, negative reviews seem to just draw childish and defensive replies about the reviewer being a liar or incompetent. I guarantee that there are no fake or deceitful reviews just trying to tarnish the good name of the KitchenPad app. Relax a bit.

Original Review: Unless the app is open, the alarm won’t work. Huge flaw.

### 2/5 — Can no longer change alarm tones.

*2019-08-22*

Used to be able to, but no longer, or they do a good job of hiding how to do it.

### 2/5 — 2 huge flaws

*2018-10-31*

First off, it’s a great concept but it has two giant flaws. Unlike the built in iOS timer, your phone must be on ring to have sound go off. I find this very annoying as my phone is always on vibrate except for alarms and timers.
Also, the alarm does not repeat. I can barely hear the timer go off when it’s in my pocket, and when it does, it makes noise for about 10 seconds and is done.
I’d pay $2 more if these two issues could get fixed. If not, I wish I could get my money back. Whomp. Whomp.

### 4/5 — Excellent graphical timer

*2016-10-30*

EXCELLENT!! Especially for one who is slightly ADD and new to cooking, this timer enables me to track multiple items on the stove (often 3) and in the oven (often 2) and never miss a beat, never heat nor over cook.

The only change I would suggest is having more charming buzzer sound options. But the at the least the one buzzer it has cannot be ignored - so I DO react quickly!

With sound options I would give this 5 stars.

### 2/5 — Was good

*2016-05-12, version 4.0.1*

Was a good app till someone 'improved ' it now not so much

### 5/5 — One Glaring Problem

*2016-04-26, version 4.0.1*

The new version takes this from being an average app to a leader in its class. The new display is crisp and clear. The interface is much improved as are the ways of personalising it.

With the latest update, this is now a first class app.

### 4/5 — Excellent

*2015-10-17, version 3.7.1*

Really good app. Use it regularly

### 2/5 — Good idea but one major issue

*2014-12-29, version 3.7*

You need your device unlocked for the alarms to sound. A major oversight.

### 1/5 — Bad feature

*2014-11-29, version 3.7*

If your iPad screen goes blank to save power your timer does NOT alarm. I like the setup but this is not acceptable. I will delete if it is not fixed with an update soon.

### 5/5 — An Excellent Aide

*2014-10-10, version 3.7*

As I rebuild my memory from a stroke, I needed reminders for the oven and stove. The developer thought of labeling the timers, location of burners, frequent favorites, and so attractive. Thank you.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Juvenile, undeveloped

*2017-03-22, version 4.0.4*

Was a free app of day -- has multiple timers on layouts like stove, broiler -- but would be more useful if could have microwave (with intensity) and slow cooker (with heat) and pressure cooker with pressure notes... Also sound are ATROCIOUS. This seems more like some class project than a serious effort to be a kitchen timer -- definitely not worth any purchase fee.

### 1/5 — Big problem.....

*2017-01-15, version 4.0.2*

This app seems promising but after setting one timer going I programmed another, only to find that the second display covered the first timer display and cannot be moved or removed. Worse, I can't make the app do anything further, though it's counting down. This may be something that's a one-off bit of weirdness. I hope so, and will report further. A further negative: it seems that unless Kitchen Pad remains on the screen then alarms don't sound. I have just ruined a batch of bread since neither of the 2 alarms I set sounded. I will not use this app again. If I could have chosen "no stars" I would have.

### 1/5 — Help! Its sound isn't working

*2016-08-24, version 4.0.1*

The sound isn't working since I upgraded my iOS. I LOVE this app. It was the best of all the timers, until now. Please, fix it. I used to use it all the time! And I WANT to continue using it.

### 1/5 — Was my favorite timer

*2016-06-16, version 4.0.1*

Unfortunately on my new iPad this will not make a sound. That is absolutely not OK for a timer. The iPad one's Version still works fine. So I still use this and would give it five stars if it worked on all of my devices.

### 1/5 — A Big Mistake

*2016-04-20, version 4.0*

This is a great example of how to wreck a good product. One screen timing, audible alarms, and selective temps are now gone. This is a step down, not up. How do I get the old version back? If there was a zero star rating this would qualify.

### 1/5 — March 2016 update brings silence

*2016-03-27, version 4.0*

The latest update no longer gives an audible alarm at the end of a timer cycle. That renders this app useless so I deleted it.

Yes, my volume is turned up and, yes, I used the most obnoxious tone I could find in settings. And yes, my iPad Air with iOS 9.2 works fine with everything else that make sound.

My Pebble smartwatch has all of the timers I need now so this whole class of apps is obsolete anyway.

### 1/5 — Removing from iPad

*2016-03-27, version 4.0*

Used this app for several years and worked well. Latest update has a burdensome user interface that makes setting up four timers time consuming.

Removing this app from my iPad.

### 1/5 — Worthless waste of money

*2015-03-02, version 3.7.1*

This app is worthless. Unless you leave your phone in the app, you get no notification of timers completed. Save your time and money and purchase Thyme instead.

### 1/5 — Doesn't solve the main problem

*2014-12-24, version 3.7*

So, you have to cook half a dozen things for different lengths of time but this app won't work out start times. It only allows you to set end times. It's no better than having multiple stopwatches.

### 1/5 — Forget this app and this company

*2014-12-10, version 3.7*

KitchenPad used to work but it no longer alarms at all. Alarms work in the default Clock app, so it's clearly a KitchenPad issue. Don't waste your time going to their web site and trying to send email to them about anything. *ALL* messages to the company get marked as spam by their site on and aren't delivered. My dinner got burned because of this app and I got burned because of this company.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Please keep this app in development. It rocks!!

*2024-08-13*

Best layout and UI around for what it is. Please keep it in development. Perhaps a 1x charge. Would pay that happily.

### 5/5 — Best app ever for Thanksgiving!

*2019-03-12*

I’ve had the iPad version since it was first released. I can’t imagine ever again making the thanksgiving meal without it! And it gets better with each update. Have recommended it many times.

### 5/5 — KitchenPad

*2018-05-30, version 4.0.6*

Great design, great function. I have been using this app for some years. I would not be without it. Installing it on my iPad now (is on my phone too). I like the choice of alarms too.

### 5/5 — I. Love. This. App.

*2017-10-22*

My other use: multiple washers/dryers at the laundromat...

### 5/5 — New life for this app!

*2017-04-02, version 4.0.5*

This app was recently acquired by a new developer, and they have restored it to its former glory, and then some.

Tons of options. Love the new foghorn alarm sound. :-)

### 5/5 — Best timer I use

*2017-04-02*

I have this app on a 4s Iphone that is only for kids to play apps under now, under a different Apple ID. It is still very functional. But since wanting it on my current Iphone for a long time, I bought it finally. Considering I time even brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth...I can never have enough timers! And mostly I time my food as it cooks or bakes. So when an alarm goes off I know I must tend to something. This app lets you KNOW what needs your attention as long as you input what you are cooking. ### 5/5 — Very Nice!

*2017-03-30, version 4.0.5*

Extremely well done app, by far the best of it's kind. I highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Clever idea- fun graphics

*2017-03-27*

I really like the concept behind this timer. The sliding temperature scale for oven temperature set is too temperamental. Reach the temperature you want, release the slider and it jumps up or down, can't get it to stop on the desired temperature.😔
Update: I decided to contact the developer directly to explain my issues with this app. I am pleased with the level of attention that was given to my concerns which ultimately lead to a resolution with this latest update. I am happy to see this app supported. I like the look and feel of this app, and it is a pleasure to use.🙂

### 5/5 — I Can Cook!

*2017-03-27*

I am very pleased with the response from the developer for this product. Just the other day, March 22, 2017, I wrote a review about my concerns with losing the KitchenPad Timer app. Now I see that there have been improvements. I was afraid to update because I thought that there would no longer be an app. But after reading about the most recent update I was encouraged and very pleased. I am happy to find that the developer has plans for more improvements in the future. Now I can cook something besides Pork and Beans - just kidding! Thank You! - and now for my previous review of March 22, 2017 >>> Afraid to update because I do not know the status of the developers/company. I've had a few developers/companies abandon or switch my app for another, rendering the app that I paid money for unable to update in the future. I am hoping that will not be the case with this one, but only "Time" will tell.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2016-12-18, version 4.0.2*

It's just brilliant
