### 3/5 — nothing crazy…

*2026-07-19, version 5.6.7*

got this app because i have terrible memory when it comes to remembering what i have in pantry/fridge. main reason was because i could input everything (quantity, expiration date, etc.) of whatever i had but as i began to input different ingredients it became a hassle wether it was deleting something (app would glitch) or looking up something that’s not in the database. its meh, im assuming it’ll get better with time and popularity but as for right now i’d save the headache for another day.

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2026-07-05, version 5.6.7*

Photo Analysis does not work. No web interface for computer. No bulk upload. I do really like the recipe integration. I like sorting by expiration date.

### 3/5 — Great for inventory management

*2026-06-26*

This app is excellent for managing my kitchen inventory, which was out of control before I downloaded this app. Now I can easily see what I need and don’t. I love the concept of the recipe match up, but it honestly needs further development before I can really rely on it. It often takes me to meal suggestions that don’t make sense once I review the ingredients, as it relies heavily on how the inventory is categorized and there are a lot of errors here still, for example categorizing “Beef Tallow”, a fat, as ground beef, or Diaya Mac and Cheese as cheese. It also substitutes ingredients that don’t need substituted because I have the actual ingredient, which seems odd to me. These are minor and I’m sure will be addressed with time, but if I could rely on the recipes more, I would use this app a lot more and give it all 5 stars. To me that’s the most unique thing this app has going for it and the thing with the best potential to pull everything together into an app I can’t live without. Mostly right now I export my inventory to a pdf, feed it to Gemini and ask it what I should make and it gives me 3 good recipes I can immediately work with, along with a shopping list for what I don’t have, and or feasible substitutions for what I have that might work.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for using KitchenPal and for sharing your feedback with us. Regarding your concern about recipe recommendations, our app uses the 'associated ingredient' to categorize a product and to find recipes that can be used with it. Please email us at support@kitchenpalapp.com so we can assist you with finding recipes with what you have. Also, you mentioned that you have the actual product, but it is still being substituted -this is unusual. Our team will look into this issue. In the meantime, you can also disable the substitutions from the profile page. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Awkward and limited

*2026-06-13*

I am really disappointed in this app, which I find awkward and difficult to use for anything other than foods with barcodes. I did buy the premium. All I need is something to keep track of my freezer inventory and I buy fresh, whole foods rather than boxed and packaged. I apparently cannot, for example, add X number of cups of cooked brown rice, or 3 servings of a homemade casserole that I’ve packaged up for future meals. In fact I cannot add cups of anything, only weight measurements. I can’t add 4 chicken breasts, I can only add how many ounces, which is so unhelpful.

If there is a way to add such out of-their-box items it requires so much effort honestly it’s faster to just use notebook paper stuck to the fridge with a magnet. I don’t need shopping lists and recipes, I just need something to help track inventory. This app is a pain.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for using KitchenPal, and we're sorry you did not have a great experience while using the app. Regarding your concern that you are unable to use cups or servings in the list of measurements, we have added this to our list of improvements. In the meantime, could you please write to us at support@kitchenpalapp.com? So we can advise you once these options are available. Thank you!

### 4/5 — Perfect for meal planning and

*2026-06-01, version 5.6.6*

Great app for being able to organise the second freezer and pantry staples. Heaps of items already saved but I appreciate being able to customise due to my Type A/everything needing to match personality.

Whenever I’ve had questions about my account or inventory, the team are always super helpful and prompt with their responses (over email or chat).

### 3/5 — Want to edit categories

*2026-04-26, version 5.6.6*

VERY disappointed I can’t make my own categories!!!!!! Rest of app is really useful.

### 4/5 — Awesome App

*2026-02-12*

I recently started using this app that tracks everything in my refrigerator, freezer, and pantry, and I have to say, it has been a game changer for my grocery shopping experience.

**Ease of Use**: The barcode scanning feature is incredibly intuitive. Adding new items to my inventory is quick and effortless—just a quick scan and it’s done. This saves me a lot of time compared to manually entering everything.

**Smart Shopping List**: One of my favorite features is how it automatically adds items to a shopping list when I use the last of something. No more running out of essentials or scrambling to remember what I need. This app takes the stress out of grocery shopping by ensuring I always know what I have at home.

**Convenience**: I’ve found that I no longer struggle to remember what I need while I’m at the store. Since I always have my phone with me, I can check the app at any time, which means no more forgotten.
In conclusion, this app has significantly improved my grocery shopping experience, making it much more efficient and stress-free. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to streamline their kitchen management! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

### 3/5 — Great app idea, but needs improvements.

*2026-01-03*

I purchased the very top plan so I can share it with my family in the house. I love the concept of the app, but it would be great for the user be able to add new categories so I can put things where I feel they should be categorized. Examples would be snacks, breakfast cereal, candy, cake mixes, pasta. I have over 10 types of pasta. The same goes with rice. There are way too many dry pantry items to put everything into one category. It makes it hard to find the item in the household list. For people that are bakers, there are many ingredients to put everything under pantry item. Another example is canned good items. There are way too many canned good items to put everything into one category.. Can the app be altered so users can create their own categories? It would make it way more user-friendly. Thanks for your consideration.

**Developer response:** Hi Brett! Thank you for using KitchenPal and for sharing your feedback with us. Regarding your request to have an option to add/edit the product categories under the Single-Screen view, where items are arranged by their product categories (aside from adding custom storage spaces), we'll be happy to add this to our list of improvements. We hope you will be patient with us till then. In the meantime, if you have other feedback or suggestions, please write to us at support@kitchenpalapp.com. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Good idea but buggy

*2025-12-06, version 5.6.4*

Good idea in theory but too hard to add items unless you are solely scanning barcodes. Way to hard so are leaving the app.

### 2/5 — Not very helpful

*2025-11-17, version 5.6.4*

It’s not very intuitive nor helpful. For instance, when you first open it, it gives you the option to scan in items or add manually. If you choose the latter, it gives a list to swipe yes or no to. If you stop and go back, it starts at the beginning again. The option to scan in items never shows up again. As well, there appears to be no way to add items manually other than their list. Because it’s very expensive, I wanted to try it first. I think it’s guaranteed I won’t purchase nor can I recommend it. This is disappointing since it came very highly recommended.

### 4/5 — Great, but one drawback

*2025-10-16, version 5.6.3*

Great app; can add as many fridges/freezers as you want. Would give it a solid five, but unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a way to see TOTAL inventory of ALL food items in one area; you have to click on each individual freezer and fridge. Otherwise it is wonderful, probably the best food inventory app out there as far as I know.

### 4/5 — Good app!

*2025-08-09*

I’ve been using this app for a couple months and it’s very useful. I like having an inventory of what’s in my kitchen so I can “check my cupboards” when I’m at the grocery store! The shopping list is also really useful because when you mark that you’ve used an item it can be automatically added to your list. I also like that you can include expiration dates for items, you can add items quickly with the barcode scanner, and you can mark if you have an item but you’re running out soon. A couple things that could be improved- if you have multiple shopping lists (like for different stores) the auto add feature seems to just pick one at random and it’s difficult to move items between lists. I also wish you could edit the shopping list while doing the “shopping” feature like when you decide to get only 2 bananas instead of the 3 on your list. Sometimes the app is buggy but their customer support is great! I’ve gotten quick and efficient responses when I had issues with it crashing and it’s been working really well since then. Would definitely recommend!

### 4/5 — Good but needs work

*2025-06-22, version 5.6.1*

Great app, works well and great for keeping on top of what’s in my cupboard and what to cook with it. I have noticed one problem though when adding recipes. Of a recipe calls for say 2 onions, finely chopped, you can’t just add two onions because you need to add the unit of measurement so need to know it in Lags or whatever. I just wanna add 2 onions without knowing the weight

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too hard

*2026-08-01, version 5.6.7*

Too hard to input recipes

### 1/5 — Items not listed

*2026-04-24, version 5.6.6*

At this point I am creating more items than are just barcode scanning correctly. I’m in Australia. Don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-04-03, version 5.6.6*

App stopped letting me add products once I reached 55 items. Basic should have 100 items included. Even shared with my partner (as suggested) and I still can’t add anything without having to pay for premium.

### 1/5 — A waste of time

*2026-03-01, version 5.6.5*

I wanted to like this and app and even paid for the premium version but it’s horrible. I spent hours scanning items only to find that it associates things like ketchup as a cheese ingredient, Thai peanut sauce with peanut butter, and it won’t show you recipes that include water unless you add water. It gives you the option to change the associated ingredient but it won’t doesn’t save it. I shouldn’t even have to tell it that ketchup isn’t cheese. Recipes are a joke. It will tell you that you have all the ingredients only to find you have only one. Yes one! It seems that this app isn’t even close to being complete and uses the users time and energy to create their own database.

### 1/5 — Can’t add foods?

*2025-12-09, version 5.6.4*

I can’t add any foods. I can swipe right or left on things I have but it’s the same like 10 things like pasta, pepper, sugar, wine, etc. I can add a “room” but can’t add any of my own food to it.

### 1/5 — No Free Trial

*2025-11-24, version 5.6.4*

There is a reason there is no free trial for this app. It’s great that it’s a one time charge, however that charge doesn’t bring any benefit, only disappointment.

The recipe feature is abysmal. When adding a recipe directly from a website, it adds ingredients that don’t exist nor make sense (example: bell peppers as an ingredient for mashed potatoes) but there is no option to edit. The substitutes also make no sense, like suggesting lasagna noodles instead of orzo. It definitely seems you’re using some cheap AI technology to write these out but you give no editing ability to the human who is trying to write out a recipe. Even when manually typing each ingredient, your app still manipulated it wrong.

The feedback button doesn’t seem to work as it errors each time you hit submit and the rate this app button disappears when clicked on (clever).

Don’t get tricked into paying, there is a reason there is no trial for this app.

### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2025-11-22, version 5.6.4*

Will only let me swipe to add foods. Can’t type or scan to add foods

### 1/5 — Stops letting you add things

*2025-11-08, version 5.6.3*

Premium is required for even basic features. Don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Couldn’t use

*2025-08-22, version 5.6.3*

I was really excited to download this app, but I tried to sign in with every version of sign in possible, and it kept telling me that it could sign me in. I tried multiple things, including deleting it and coming back, turning off my Wi-Fi tried to use satellite. Turn my Wi-Fi back on again. Nothing works.

### 1/5 — Ok app, abysmal pricing

*2025-07-22, version 5.6.1*

Don’t get me wrong, this app is not BAD. Buggy in stupid ways? Yeah. Objectively bad design choices (ex having to wait for the “item added” pop-up to disappear because it’s obscuring the “add new item” button)? Yes. UI cluttered? Sure. But it does what it says and it looks like the preview. It’s like the devs only just recently started playing dev simulator and haven’t prestiged yet, so they’re pushing a fix-as-we-go product to you to turn a profit in order to someday MAYBE make the product actually worth what you’re paying. Just run that in your head, swish it around, whatever you need to do, and don’t pay big huge Real Money Bucks to be a beta tester

Edit: Honorable mention, but this is just my objective opinion, the Android Orange color scheme is not fun for my eyes and there’s no way to change it that I can find

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-04-20, version 5.6.6*

This app is super helpful. I hate throwing away food and buying what I already have. This app helps so much.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-04-20, version 5.6.6*

This is a standout app that truly simplifies meal management and food storage. After trying many other similar apps, this one finally gets it right by seamlessly combining pantry tracking, grocery lists, and recipe discovery into one app.
The app's ability to suggest meals based on what you already have in your kitchen is a game-changer for reducing food waste. It’s a powerful, user-friendly tool that helps you stay organized and makes daily cooking much more efficient. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Makes life so much easier!

*2026-03-17, version 5.6.5*

I absolutely love the ease and flexibility of this app! As a caregiver to 3 adults, I have to keep track of supplies for the entire household, kitchen, prescriptions and medical supplies. I was able to add lists for those extra categories which enables me to have everything in one place and makes ordering easier. I love the barcode scanner and how easy it is to add items.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app and customer service

*2026-03-02, version 5.6.5*

Such a helpful app. You can add in recipe links and it tells you what you’re missing. Also, I had an issue with my login and found the email customer service to be swift and really helpful!

### 5/5 — No more wasted food

*2025-08-26, version 5.6.3*

Great app! Helps me keep track of what’s in my kitchen and gives recipe ideas so nothing goes to waste. Super easy to use

### 5/5 — Total game changer!

*2025-07-06*

I love how easy KitchenPal makes it to keep track of everything in my kitchen. The barcode scanning feature is a lifesaver—just scan and go, and it builds a full inventory of what you have on hand. No more standing in the grocery store wondering, “Do I already have this?” or wasting time every week taking stock.

It helps me meal plan based on what’s already in my kitchen, sends helpful expiration alerts, and completely removes the mental load of keeping up with the grocery list. Total win!

I also had to reach out to support to get my husband’s account linked to mine so we could both manage the kitchen together, and they were incredibly kind and helpful. They got back to us quickly and had everything set up in no time.

KitchenPal feels like having a smart, stress-free kitchen assistant in my pocket. Can’t recommend it enough!

### 5/5 — What a great idea!

*2025-06-19, version 5.6.1*

This app has been so useful for me when it comes to meal planning and grocery shopping. It’s easy to get used to and, aside from the initial scanning of whatever is in your kitchen, subsequent grocery trips are quick to add into the database. I love the expiry function as it helps me keep on top of things that expire quickly like produce but also cans and sauces that get forgotten about. I also had a wonderful experience with the support staff, who helped me easily migrate my entire account over to a new one with no data loss. The pricing is also very reasonable for those who prefer the premium rates. And the fact that they offer a one time lifetime purchase in today’s age of subscription only is a breath of fresh air! Big thanks to the KitchenPal team for all your work on this app.

### 5/5 — In Love For Real

*2025-05-15, version 5.6.0*

I love this. Please create a Home Screen widget to tell me what’s expiring and recipe ideas :) ilysmmm

### 5/5 — Great app, great support!

*2025-04-12, version 5.6.0*

I’ve been using this app for a year or so and I love it. It helps keep our freezer and storage bins organized for easy search. I have an occasional issue but the support team is extremely responsive and helps resolve it right away. Thanks so much!

### 5/5 — KitchenPal

*2025-03-27, version 5.5.8*

I tried 5 other apps when the app I used for 10 years left me. This is the greatest
