Fun app though, had it for a couple days. ### 3/5 — Great Concept! but… *2023-01-17, version 140* I love the idea of this app. i love seeing what my friends are listening to, but i wish there was a way to see which songs your friends liked. For example if you sent them multiple songs, as of right now there is no way to see which ones they liked or disliked. It would also be cool to have a comment section where you could respond to the songs your friends sent you. it would be great to hear which songs you have in common versus the ones they didn’t like as much and their reason for agreeing/disagreeing. i would love to see this implemented! A lot of my mutuals and i have expressed our dislike for the swiping left and right. It’s too vague because i don’t necessarily dislike a song but it’s not my favorite either. Rating was more efficient in my opinion. Another huge thing that i greatly advise Kiwi to bring back is the option to respond! You can write messages for songs but there is no way for someone else to respond directly back to the message like before. Also, when you write a message that’s a little longer there’s no way to read the full thing because it gets cut off. Kiwi was a really fun app before but the new updates have been very aggravating and even made some people leave the app. ### 3/5 — It’s okay *2023-01-02, version 139* I love this app its amazing but the thing is I cannot see which songs my friends liked and disliked. I send out multiple songs and I get reviews but it will not show me which song they reviewed which keeps me thinking 😭 which song is it? I would like if you could change that but otherwise this app is pretty cool! But the new update makes me feel nauseous. Now it’s either bad or good but what if you like the song but kind of in the middle? There should be an option for you to skip it if you don’t want to rate it. But i have to rate it to get to the next option which angers me. I hope you change this please 🙏 ### 3/5 — Alright so far. *2022-12-29, version 138* I like the concept, but it’s not super practical. There’s no way to see the songs you’ve liked, so by the time I’ve swiped a few times, I’ve already forgotten the title and artist of a song I thought was good. It’s also a little overwhelming. I think there should be a cap on how many songs you can send, or maybe it should just be limited to the one song a day like BeReal. I like BeReal because there’s enough there for me to know what my friends are up to, but since it’s one picture per user once a day, it’s not overly stimulating. On that note, I wish there was a way to edit your notification preferences. I don’t want to be notified every single time someone shares a song, and this especially adds to the overwhelming nature of the app because people spam songs, and I’m constantly made aware of it. ### 2/5 — used to be fun until recent update *2022-12-27, version 138* I really enjoyed using this app at first to send & receive songs from friends.. but the recent update has it now formatted like a dating app where it plays a short section of a song & then you have to swipe right or left to indicate u either liked or disliked it. You can’t even easily listen to the whole song or look at a list of all the songs your friends sent you like you could before, so whereas before it could be used to discover new music, now it just exists to rate songs superficially after listening to only a few seconds of them… really not enjoyable for me anymore. I don’t even see the point of using the app anymore if I can’t see all the songs my friends sent me. If the developers are reading this, I understand that you guys were probably just trying to make it a more fun & streamlined experience or something, but you’ve kind of killed the appeal it used to have in the process. It used to feel like a way to connect with my friends over music & listen to new songs, now it just feels pointless. A lot of my friends who use the app have said they felt the same way, some deleted it. I would recommend bringing some of the old features back, or just reverting it to how it was before altogether. ### 3/5 — Used to LOVE but new update ruined *2022-12-20, version 138* Me and my friend loved sending songs to each other everyday and we loved the ranking and the ability to comment back and forth. This new update with the tinder style is fine, but it took away the part I liked the most! I wish there was more of a range of rating rather than just like or dislike. Maybe add a super-like or a super-dislike option! ### 2/5 — Literally loved this app but now it’s been ruined! *2022-12-20, version 138* I used to love this app but the new update is NOT IT. Please for the love of all that is holy bring back the past interface. It was so much more fun and you were able to give a more nuanced opinion on a song rather than just “like and dislike”… I’m honestly so upset that this app has become this. It has definitely lost so much of its enjoyability with the new format, and everyone I have talked with feels the same way. PLEASE BRING THE OLD INTERFACE BACK!! ### 3/5 — The New App Update *2022-12-20, version 138* Hi, I’m not a huge fan of the app’s new update. The app was really nice before when you could rate a friend’s song and comment your thoughts, but now, I feel like the app has become a bit boring. Can you guys maybe revert back to the original app or maybe combine the two versions? Thank you, A frustrated kiwi user ### 2/5 — New Update *2022-12-19, version 137* Loved this app beforehand, but the new update has made it almost unusable. The like vs. dislike system isn’t accurate enough, and doesn’t account for any kind of nuance like the 0-100 system did. The removal of comments and the inability to see which of my friends liked which songs also has made the app feel less interpersonal. I’m just sending songs out into a void instead of actually interacting with my friends. I appreciate the music playing in-app, but everything else has really downgraded. ### 2/5 — revert the update *2022-12-18, version 137* The app was significantly better before the recent update. Let me explain. Before, you could accurately give a rating instead of thumbs down or up. Additionally, arguably the most important feature was removed, that being the comments on each song. The comments allowed you to discuss how you really felt about a song because words are infinitely more impactful than a rating. ### 2/5 — Needs to stop changing so drastically all the time *2022-12-17, version 137* Fell in love with the concept of the app and really enjoyed being able to share new music finds with friends. However, they keep changing the design of the app every month or so and it becomes worse and less enjoyable to use every time. Also the widgets never work and just show a blank box. I’ve updated the app, deleted it and redownloaded it many times and it doesn’t change. I’ve gradually become more disappointed over time. The simplicity of it is what drew me in at first but now it’s becoming complicated and weird to navigate. ### 3/5 — Needs Accessibility Improvements *2022-12-17, version 137* The most recent update has removed all of the accessibility that the app used to contain. It no longer works very well with voiceover, and I have no idea what elements I’m clicking on, or how the app works. The new design has a bunch of blank elements that don’t even read, which means that I don’t know what I’m doing. I really like this app, and it would be great to see improvements with voiceover accessibility soon. ### 3/5 — New Update *2022-12-16, version 137* I absolutely loved Kiwi and all my friends and I had a blast finding new music and rating each other…. but with the new update… i cant say the same. its like tinder but for music and the fun of it was that it was like bereal. its also a bit harsh to see “someone disliked your song” instead of being able to rate a song on a scale… my friends and i all agree the last version is way better than the new tinder one… ### 4/5 — Need the ability to adjust the slider! *2022-12-09, version 136* The app is great and my friends and I have been loving it, but it’s annoying that you can’t adjust the slider when rating a song that someone has sent. It automatically locks in a rating when you move the slider at all, so I sometimes end up giving the a song a very low rating by accidentally moving the slider. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Fix your app. *2023-06-30* I have a bone to pick with this app ( and developers)For the most part, this app is fun. Sharing music is part of my love language and I love to introduce people to new things. Although I say all these positive there is one thing you need to fix, THE ENTIRE APP. The new update is not fun and super boring. Please bring the old rating back. Another problem I have is I usually get a notification when I get sent a song but then it mysteriously stopped notifying me?? I could be sent a song and I would look at it maybe TWO WEEKS LATER ( I also don’t check the app itself because I hate it). Third, the profile pictures were maybe my favorite part because yay! Another app to spend 2 hours choosing the perfect icon! And just like the notifications, they didn’t pop up anymore and I could change the picture it just wouldn’t pop up!! And that brings me to fourth, I thought a simple deleting the app and re downloading would work. I try to long back in, I put in my phone number and, IT. DOES. NOT. WORK. I thought I was just putting my phone number wrong but no! The app just doesn’t work. If you could maybe fix these problems or the whole app. Or maybe just delete all of it while your at it! Thanks ! :) ### 1/5 — Was great, now ruined *2023-01-01, version 139* I just updated the app and was absolutely disappointed to see the insane change to the app. Swiping like a dating app is not fun for me or anyone I have talked to about it who also have the app. The system before was perfect: you could see a list of what you received, what you have sent, and could rate each song on a scale from 0-100 and leave comments. Now you can no longer give a rating other than “good” or “bad” which is NOT how I like to rate the music I listen to. It is not specific enough. You also can no longer leave comments, which made the experience more fun. Overall, I’m sad and I don’t know if I want to use the app anymore. It was so fun and I looked forward to sending and receiving songs every day, but now I don’t even want to get on the app. I’m upset. ### 1/5 — Why did you change the app ?? *2022-12-18, version 137* The update to just swiping makes NO sense and ruins the experience - I like the update of playing a few seconds of the song but the whole point was rating on a scale and leaving comments / seeing what people had previously sent and seeing your rating etc…. This ruined the experience please go back to the old interface with just a few updates ### 1/5 — Was good, terrible now *2022-12-17, version 137* The app was really enjoyable, I loved getting song recommendations from my friends and getting to hav little convos about them! The rating system worked well as well. I absolutely hate the most recent update though, it’s ruined the app for me. I’m forced to rate a song as either good or bad after listening for only 5-10 seconds and I can’t figure out how to comment anymore! It feels like everything horrible about the superficiality of a dating app, if this doesn’t change soon I’m deleting. ### 1/5 — the new update… *2022-12-17, version 137* I honestly rate this app a 1 star after this new update. Previously, I used kiwi to send songs with my friend, which was a lot more convient and fun. I loved being able to rate the song a scale instead of completely disliking or liking it. The new update doesn’t provide that variety anymore.. it’s really harsh to say you either hate or like the song instead of rating it on that scale. I could like the song but not 100% say it’s my favorite. My friend and I barley use kiwi after this. Please fix this and add back the scale! ### 1/5 — most recent update ruined the app *2022-12-17, version 137* the newest update is a huge step back. the auto play is awful and distracting. The removal of rating in favor of a like/dislike system makes the whole opinion system less interesting and invaluable. I rarely if ever want to “dislike” a song but would rather rate it lower in comparison to another song. Why couldn’t there be a 5-10 star rating? Or perhaps a rotten tomato-esque how “fresh” the rating is in terms of a rotting kiwi? Copying dating apps’ card style is unoriginal and boring. I loved this app as a way to share music with friends and compare favorites but now I hate using it. ### 1/5 — WHAT is this new update girl *2022-12-16, version 137* i had a lot of fun with this app but this weird new tinder like interface is truly heinous … legitimately destroys the app’s functionality, 100x harder to use, half the time it can’t even register my “votes”……keeps giving me and all my friends the same cannot rate song error message…rough. I liked the full 0-100 rating scale. The thumbs up or down takes all the fun away. If this new interface is here to stay I’m out, it was fun while it lasted! ### 1/5 — seems not to work on iPhone SE 2 *2022-10-08, version 128* i got a new phone and i have it updated to the new ios update (16) but it looks like whenever i try to login it doesn’t toggle to the next screen, i’m still at the “add your phone number” or something like that. it is very frustrating because it worked on my last phone but not this one. also on the widget the text is off the screen. i just want the app to work because i did enjoy using it on my old phone. ### 2/5 — Was great and now it is bad *2022-12-31, version 139* I loved this app before the update. You used to be able to send each other songs and comment and rate each other’s music, it was a really nice way to bond over music and share it with friends! The new update took all of those features away, and turned it into a sort of Tinder like app where you just swipe left or right to say if you liked or disliked a song. I have since stopped using the app, and a lot of my friends have too. Please bring the old app back!!! :( ### 2/5 — New UI ruined everything *2022-12-27, version 138* I loved this app so much and used it almost everyday to get new music from my friends and to share my songs of the day. The UI was simple and easy to navigate, but each update made the app harder to use each time. It wasn’t really a problem until they made the app look like knock off tinder, ridding the option of rating songs on a scale and instead just gave you the option of “good” or “bad”. Besides getting rid of the best part of having a music score on your profile, the app is straight up difficult to use and ugly to look at. I stopped using it once they implemented the dating app UI. I never write reviews for apps but I have suggested kiwi to do many of my friends and we all had fun sharing our music in an easy and now I’m so sad it unusable now. This is more of a cry for help to bring the app to its beginner stages, where it was easy to send and keep track of songs. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — I love this app! *2023-01-13, version 140* I love this app! My friend sent it to me the other day and I already love sending my friends music. This is so fun because you can see your sent songs, and I’m so glad you can send them to all your friends at once as well! I think there should be an option where you and your friends can listen to a song at the same time. I recognize the work and effort put into it and wholeheartedly think its perfect as a way to get closer to people and be social through music. My friends and I love it one suggestion would be to shorten the time limit. They are also super responsive on Instagram, I had a problem loading my profile and messages them on the off chance they would respond. In an hour they responded with troubleshooting tips. Its cool and I like sending songs that Ive been obsessed with to friends and having them send songs to me that I might reference later :) I got to reconnect with some family and hear what they like these days so I love it—I think it’d be nice to see what songs they like and dislike. I dont see the purpose of receiving the notification of like/dislike if I cant even see what they liked or disliked. Takes away from suggesting songs that I think they would like and it’d just be cool to see (hence 4 stars).
