## What is Klartext?

Speak instead of typing: tap the mic, talk — polished text lands in any app,
in your language. Everything happens on your iPhone: recognition runs on
Apple's large speech model right on the device, and AI cleanup removes filler
words and slips and sets clean punctuation — powered by Apple Intelligence,
right on your iPhone. No account, no server, no tracking: by default, your
dictation goes nowhere. For mixed languages and technical vocabulary there's
optional cloud recognition with your own key; for cleanup without Apple
Intelligence, your existing ChatGPT subscription — both clearly labeled.

The Klartext keyboard is deliberately not a second typing keyboard — it's a
lean dictation panel: a big mic, space, delete, return, and (with AI cleanup
active) your mode right on the keyboard: Message · Email · Note · AI prompt ·
your own modes.

DICTATION THAT DOESN'T CUT OFF
Unlike built-in dictation, recording keeps running when you switch apps: the
keyboard is just the display, the mic lives in the main app. Look something
up, switch apps, come back, tap stop — the text is in your field. And no word
gets lost: recordings stay on your device for up to 24 hours — listen again
or re-transcribe. Can be turned off.

### 2.0.3 — 2026-09-07

Polish for the on-device AI cleanup and the Modes screen:

• The Modes screen now always shows what a dictation would really get — even without a ChatGPT account or your own key, straight from the device. The sample sentence is new: a short dictation with three requests, so Message, Note and AI Prompt visibly differ.
• In the keyboard, Email and your custom modes are always in the row. Without a large model they appear dimmed, and a tap explains how the device polishes instead.
• Long dictations: no stray sample sentence in your text any more, no intro like "Here is the text:", and numbers stay the way you said them.
• "Thanks and kind regards" stays one sentence, a leftover "um" is removed, and a spoken "comma" is inserted.

### 2.0.2 — 2026-09-05

A small update with one important fix to the on-device AI cleanup:

• Questions stay questions: Dictate "What does skimmed milk mean" and Klartext writes the question down — instead of putting the answer into your text field. Same for instructions: they are written down, not carried out.
• Closer to your wording: The cleanup stays nearer to what you actually said, and it is reproducible now — the same dictation gives the same text.
• Spoken commands: "question mark", "exclamation mark" and "new line" are applied reliably.
• If the model does slip out of its role, Klartext notices and hands you your dictation unchanged — with a capital first letter and closing punctuation.
• The Lock Screen card now follows light and dark appearance — it used to stay dark in light mode.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-09-02

Polish after the big 2.0 — much of it straight from your feedback:

• Feel it: Haptic feedback is back. iOS silenced it while the mic was open — keys tap again, and start/stop via the Action button get their own pulse.
• Honest: The Lock Screen card now says exactly what leaves your device — "on device" when recognition and polish run locally. And the countdown shows your chosen mic window, not a hidden second timer.
• Prettier: The Lock Screen card and Dynamic Island now wear the app's design, and the keyboard shows the new logo.
• Plus small fixes to display and stability.
