Not everyone has a house. Oddly though we have just installed solar panels and this calculator says we have a lower carbon footprint if we don’t have solar panels than we do if 100% of electricity comes from them. So this app is literally perfection I love seeing where the money is going & what it's helping do for the planet! In 2022 with so much climate change disasters happening right in our faces this is definitely a worthwhile app to get and continue using cant wait to see how many Trees, Power, & Meals i help with through out the year/years with Klima's help! I wasnt ready to commit as I wanted to do a bit more research, but when I came back to the app my configuration was gone 😔. I spent a while customizing it too. Please allow accounts without payment or allow us to save a configuration locally. I wont return to this app until this is fixed. I'm surprised Apple approved this so far. ### 5/5 — This is something great! *2021-12-03* This type of app allows people to be aware of their impact on the environment. It teaches you how you can adjust the small things and make a difference. It is also refreshing knowing I am making an impact even though I don’t really know how to do the things the projects that they sponsor do on their own. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Poor coding set up *2023-11-02, version 2.8.0* Downloaded, but it wouldn’t login because the email couldn’t find the app. Deleted as wasted my time ### 1/5 — How is hydropower sustainable? *2022-06-01, version 2.1.1* I didn’t even get to use the app because I became suspicious when having to choose how I best wanted to offset my carbon footprint from a few different options including hydropower solutions. Dams used for generating hydropower have immense negative effects on the environment: they actually emit CO2 due to the stagnant water, they disrupt natural flows of water by drastically reducing river debit, impacting vegetation and wildlife downriver, as well as fish populations, and they destroy landscapes. This is without mentioning the actual CO2 emissions due to their actual construction. So how is this offsetting? Or having a car but using a bike more of the time? Or renewable energy versus producing your own. How about frugal shopping; - I.e I still wear clothes from my twenties. And buy rarely. But still that is an entire tonne!!! I don’t think this is actually for someone who takes the concept of reduce before offsetting seriously. I have received feedback for this review implying that being a bit more accurate would judge my lifestyle. However they aim to connect me with climate initiatives. Still we should be reducing before we offset and some there would be more finance for even better and more local schemes. I am still not impressed with the approach this app is taken and not helping the challenge of climate action in the right way ### 1/5 — Not actually helpful *2021-05-08* I wanted an app to tell me ways in which I could reduce my individual carbon footprint, like make swaps. I live in the US where everyone’s carbon footprint is huge. I don’t want to just pay money to an African country that doesn’t need my help to feel fine about the amount of carbon I produce. I’m literally paying indulgences like a medieval catholic rich person. This is tone deaf! **Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback. At this stage, Klima is primarily focused on offsetting, though we also provide tips to reduce your carbon footprint. We try to communicate that mission clearly throughout our App Store page, website, and onboarding. This is because even if you reduce your footprint as much as possible, no one can get to zero emissions through reduction alone. We do have plans to build out a more robust reduction feature in the future to ensure we’re helping shrink our users’ footprints and offset what can’t be reduced. As for location, our climate projects are located in Africa and South America because these regions are the hardest hit by climate change and they provide highly efficient and effective offsetting projects. ### 1/5 — dumb *2021-04-23, version 1.5.0* dont waste your time with this app. just live a goid clean life and your good. you dont need this virtue signaling app to tell you how to live your life. Recycle, ride a bike if you can, carpool, and try not to use plastic bottles.
