This in no way is a reflection of anything different. The disclaimers are obnoxious. We all know that nobody hardly ever reads them and they’re typically written in “legalese” so unless you are well versed in that, you won’t really understand it anyway. The purpose is clearly to make you understand that this isn’t comparable to real legal advice, that there might have been updates to laws etc. and to make sure they don’t get sued for people thinking different. Yet when you compare to other apps - medical/legal advice type - there’s not the obsession with disclaimers. The app still only functions in landscape and it is extremely compressed in its view. I have a Plus phone and can’t even begin to imagine attempting to use the app on a “regular” smaller phone. Half the screen is taken up by the logo which makes the actual interaction area about 1/2” to 3/4”. I bought it to further support KR - and hope I helped that, but seriously doubt it’ll be an app I’ll use much. ### 2/5 — Outdated, now not working. *2019-05-16, version 1.7* Needs to be updated to portrait. As others have mentioned, it will only function in landscape mode. The information is also incorrect in at least one state. I have messaged, called, emailed, and spoke with Knife Rights in person, but the information has still not been corrected. I also provided them with the relevant statutes from the state. Half my collection is probably illegal anyway but I could care less. I'm not a criminal. The state of Washington does not respect me or my rights so I have no respect for their laws. But, it's a work-in-progress which I trust is going to bloom into something very good. Kniferights is a very important organization achieving amazing results at very important work. I'm proud to support Kniferights and urge everyone who values our Constitutional Rights to do so too. I'm glad that Kniferights has recognized a need to make this vitally-important information available as an iPhone app and look forward to seeing a bit of polishing work in the future. ### 4/5 — A More Fair Review *2014-10-04, version 1.4* I am quite surprised to see the entirely negative reviews about this app- I have seen much worse "niche" apps. Compared to actually spending hours skimming and studying penal code, this app is a major convenience- at the very least, it provides specific law sections at a few moments' notice, which can be verified with official legal sources (a good one is LexisNexis, but it only includes a few States). As other reviewers have mentioned, the header takes up a lot of space on the page, though it does not prevent adequate use of the app. The tables showing the basic knife restrictions of each state could use some labeling (green means non-restricted or very limited restriction, yellow means medium restriction, and red means full prohibition), and can be difficult to scroll (drag the center column with the color codes); overall, I think these charts need more screen space. The legal pop-ups are annoying, but understandable. This is most certainly worth the $2 for convenience, and the fact that, unlike those three-year-old ask.com results, the legal codes and their effects are up-to-date in this app. While it is still good to do detailed legal research with an official source (especially for your state of residence), this is a great app for anytime you need to travel, and don't have hours to read code. And if you are unlike me, and are willing to fully trust someone else's legal summary, this is the best source of information. ### 3/5 — It seems to be broken. *2023-09-30, version 3.0.9* It opens on a Disclaimer page. That won’t load. When I go to the map to pick a state, it just drops a pin, but doesn’t open the knife laws for that state and doesn’t select a city. I used this app in the past, so not sure what’s wrong. I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 16.7.1 ### 3/5 — Good Cause, Good information, Bad interface *2016-12-27, version 1.7* I believe in no restrictions to openly carrying swords/knives in states where you can openly carry guns.
