### 2/5 — Lost Progress

*2019-09-12, version 1.03*

The game locks up right after the unity screen. Deleting and re-installing resolved the issue but now I have to start over from the beginning.

**Developer response:** Sorry about that! Please try the update 1.04 it should fix the issue of not loading.

### 3/5 — It’s ok.

*2019-09-11, version 1.03*

Honesty if all of its flaws were ironed out and it was released on the game boy color, then it would just be just an average game.

There are a few problems that really hold this game back but I’ll just go down the list.

- The kings flute (warp back to town) doesn’t work correctly and freezes the game view when used, there is a work around where after the sound stops you walk up and hit A to save your game, and then after quit and come back, but that shouldn’t be something that people have to do.

- The Puzzles. It’s ok to have puzzles in a game to do other stuff except fight, but I think there should be a quick way to reset the blocks and your position Incase you screw up. Also I think enemies should not spawn in rooms with block puzzles, it makes you rush to try and avoid fights and causes you to accidentally push blocks.

- The effects (burn, poison, paralysis) never go away, the ONLY ways to get rid of them is either by potion or by save crystal. It wouldn’t be so bad if the game didn’t give you one gold piece at a time (you can’t sell your stuff either, all the game let’s you sell IS potions and they only sell for a coin a pop). I think a difficulty option could fix this.

- The crafting system is more confusing then it is cool, I’d rather just have generic shops where I can buy items and the crafting be a side thing that I can optionally use.

- This one is something you will only understand if you play the game, but the enemies have been recycled in a very strange way. Enemies that you have fought before will appear in later parts of the game, be just about as powerful as they were before except for a small health boost, but give tons of XP. Recycling enemies is fine but I think they should at least be colored differently.

The game isn’t awful or anything, but as much as I want to like it, the game feels like a flash game on newgrounds attempting to be a nes game. It’s not worth the price in my opinion.

### 3/5 — Lost 3 hours of progress

*2019-09-10, version 1.03*

Game locked up after Unity logo once and then forever after, and the only way I got it to open was to reinstall.

### 3/5 — King's Flute bugged

*2019-09-09, version 1.03*

King's Flute doesn't work at all and freezes the game. I've reinstalled and still have the same issue. 5 stars when fixed.

### 1/5 — Main Controls Not Visible

*2019-09-07, version 1.02*

Given this was a featured app of the day, one might expect a certain level of basic quality. Say for example the Main”game pad” controls being visible/accessible so you can actually play the game.

Nope. Sucker! You can see the B button, but we’re keeping the A button hidden from your view. Ha ha ha ha!

Maybe this works on an iPhone or iPad mini. It’s a big no go on an iPad Pro. Or maybe the new iOS 13 will make it all better. We’ll see. For now, this was a waste of $7.99. :-(

### 1/5 — I want a refund

*2019-09-07, version 1.02*

The app doesn’t work on my iPad. I expect more from an $8 app. I have a normal (not min, not big) sized iPad Pro air and the app’s function keys are cut off. I can’t use the “a” button, can’t see the “start” button” or the left arrow.
It’s like I’m zoomed in. The options have the screen size and full screen selections grayed out, so I can’t fix this. I’ve tried restarting and everything. Please refund my $ and remove this app from my device.

### 1/5 — Bugs, not enough save points

*2021-03-14, version 1.07*

the flute causes the game to freeze. No save point on the pirate ship?? F that

### 1/5 — Great game but

*2020-05-26, version 1.07*

Love playing this game but the portals are not working and freeze the game so you can’t go any farther.

### 1/5 — DONT BUY IT

*2019-09-22, version 1.04*

Completely wasted time, total rubbish, new update=new game, you just lost all your progress. Oh, there is a big bug in iOS version, King’s flute, frozen the game every time you were using it.

**Developer response:** Hi there,
Sorry about that. We had to do a full reset because of some other issues we were having with the game engine. Please email us at info@crescentmoongames.com

### 1/5 — Updates broke it

*2019-09-16, version 1.04*

I updated immediately when I saw there was a new update because some of the game’s features were bugged, like the kings flute freezing the game. Update 1.03 broke the game completely. I tapped on the app after and it just went to a black screen forever. I’ve already put a lot of time in the game, so I didn’t want to uninstall it and reinstall to try to fix it so I could keep my progress. So I just waited around until 1.04 to see if that would fix it and I wouldn’t have to lose my progress. So I was really excited to see the new update and I downloaded it immediately, only to find when I opened the game that it completely reset. Now the only option is “new game” on the menu. This may have been the worst 8 dollars I’ve ever spent.

**Developer response:** Sorry about that - please email us at info@crescentmoongames.com so we can help you out.

### 1/5 — Can’t access the controls

*2019-09-14, version 1.03*

Can’t even access all the controls. Need a refund.

### 1/5 — Great Game - Locked Up on Loading Screen

*2019-09-11, version 1.03*

Loved the gameplay, but I lost ~5 hours due to the game not loading passed the “Unity” screen.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2019-09-11, version 1.03*

I saw this app in a story by Apple. It was buggy to begin with, but not it won’t even start up before crashing.

### 1/5 — Update 1.03 broke the game

*2019-09-10, version 1.03*

Just installed the update and now the game won’t open. Company logo shows and then goes to black.

### 1/5 — Too broken to enjoy

*2019-09-09, version 1.03*

The bugs mess up vital parts of the game and do not allow enjoyable play. These problems should not exist at launch.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2019-09-08, version 1.03*

Just paid for this app a couple of days ago. It has been quite buggy (freezing when using a couple of the items) and so I was excited when they released a new version. After I updated to the new version, the app no longer even works. When loading the app initially, the screen goes black and freezes forever.

### 5/5 — Amazing game! Don’t hesitate to buy!!

*2023-12-29*

This game is so good!! I’m almost finished with it! It’s a long game for sure. And it has very good story to go along with it! It might take a little to get used to how this game plays but it’s pretty similar to a link’s awakening or final fantasy for the game boy. There is only one glitch I’ve experienced while playing but I quickly found a workaround. When you use the flute to send you back to the village the game freezes. Or that’s what you would think judging by the frozen screen but you can still hear yourself moving around even if the screen is frozen. The flute puts you right by a save crystal so you just need to click up and A then you’ve saved your game. Just reload and then you’ve still got all your progress and everything is good. Other then that one problem this game is amazing I love the encounters it’s kinda like Pokémon. But the exploration is more like Zelda with puzzles and fun mechanics and gameplay. There are items you can get to help you make your way around and lots of fun things to do. And mini dungeons with a boss knight to bring you closer to completing the game. Once you have the hang of things it’s a great game and with the recent updates you don’t have to worry about meny bugs. Overall definitely worth 4$ I would pay 20$

### 5/5 — 29SEP2019 updated review

*2019-10-01, version 1.05*

A truly fantastic RPG that, no joke, rivals the NES’ Legend of Zelda. Interesting storyline, gorgeous 8-bit-like graphics, intuitive controls, clean menus free of distracting ornamentation, and remarkable variety of worlds to explore.

I hope they build on the success of this game and release a second campaign. If they do, I hope they keep KoT’s fundamentals: there’s a reason why the original Zelda is so beloved. “Don’t fix what isn’t broken.”

**Developer response:** Hello,
Please try the update 1.04 it should fix your issue.
Best,
Josh

### 5/5 — Awesome GBC-style game

*2019-06-15, version 1.02*

This game is amazing, it feels like a long lost GBC game was discovered and put on iPhone. It has an old-school style, but also has tons of personality and unique ideas of its own. This is not a nostolgic cashgrab, but a legitimatly cool and unique retro game.

### 4/5 — Ok!

*2020-05-15, version 1.07*

Had issues at first but running great now!

### 4/5 — Yo

*2019-09-09, version 1.03*

It’s a good game and I got about five hours in and now it won’t even open. It happened when the new update came.

### 4/5 — Game breaking bug!

*2019-09-09, version 1.03*

Like one of the previous reviews said, I had to download the game because it wouldn’t open up again. (This is my third time trying it, wish me luck!) wonderful game, I love the concepts and the feel of combat. I wish I can get deeper in and see what else it has to offer!

### 4/5 — Good game with a few bugs

*2019-09-08, version 1.03*

I haven’t made much progress but the game seems really good! (and I am not even a fan of classic RPGs). A few bugs however prevent it from being excellent. I initially played one hour or so. When I came back to the game the next day, it refused to open. I had to reinstall it, which meant losing my progress. Hopefully these issue will be fixed; if it wasn’t for them, this would be the perfect RPG mobile experience.

### 4/5 — Great game but needs glitch fixed

*2019-06-24, version 1.02*

I’m really enjoying this game, but I tried using the flute and it just kind of locks up the game. Please fix! Other than that it’s been a lot of fun!

### 4/5 — Yay!

*2019-06-13, version 1.01*

The game is fantastic. Very fun very entertaining and keeps your attention very well. Would have five stars but there are still some glitches in the game that are rather frustrating. For example the Kings flute when I use it most of the time the game freezes and does not take me back to the town so I lose my progress but to me the game is still worth it!

### 3/5 — Need more control options

*2021-05-07, version 1.07*

This game would actually play great in portrait due to the 4:3 aspect ratio. Still though the buttons should be adjustable. Playing on the iPhone 12 mini makes the d pad tiny and cramps my thumbs because it’s so low. Also you can’t change direction in game without first lifting your thumb off then tapping a different direction. This game has so much potential but it hurts to play.
