## What is KnightVision?

KnightVision

Your all-in-one chess companion for over-the-board players. Scan chessboards with AR, digitize tournament scoresheets, import your online games, and analyze every move with Stockfish — all in one app.

SCAN YOUR BOARD WITH AR
Point your camera at any real chessboard and KnightVision uses ARKit and machine learning to detect every piece on the board. Save positions, add notes, and pick up where you left off.

DIGITIZE TOURNAMENT SCORESHEETS
Snap a photo of your handwritten scoresheet and let our OCR pipeline extract every move. Review, correct, and save the full game — no more manual PGN entry after a long tournament day.

RECORD GAMES LIVE
Use the interactive board to record your over-the-board games move by move as they happen. Drag and drop pieces with full move validation, then save the PGN instantly.

DEEP GAME ANALYSIS
Review any game with Stockfish engine analysis. Every move is classified — Brilliant, Great, Best, Good, Inaccuracy, Mistake, or Blunder — with accuracy scores for both players and a visual evaluation graph across the entire game.

IMPORT FROM CHESS.COM & LICHESS
Link your Chess.com and Lichess accounts to automatically import your game history. Filter and browse your full archive by platform, date, opening, and result.

TACTICAL PUZZLES
Sharpen your skills with rated puzzles matched to your level using the Glicko-2 rating system, or choose from custom themes and difficulty ranges.

TRACK YOUR RATINGS
Connect your USCF and FIDE IDs to track your official ratings alongside your online ratings — all in one profile.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-06-25

This build focuses on steadier board scanning and a smoother first run:

  • Steadier board detection — the grid now holds its lock through endgames and sparse positions instead of drifting.
  • Clearer spoken moves — announced moves now pronounce the square names correctly.
  • Bug Fixes — resolved a crash when opening the position editor, plus other stability improvements.

### 1.2 — 2026-04-21

NEW — Live Game Tracking
Tap "Track Live Game" after capturing the starting position to auto-record your game as you play. Moves appear in the move list within ~1–2 seconds. Supports captures, castling, promotions, en passant, and rapid exchanges where several half-moves happen between detections.

NEW — ARKit board lock
The scanner now auto-locks onto the physical board once it's stable, using ARKit world anchors. The grid overlay stays pinned to the real board even as you tilt or move your phone — no continuous grid scanning after lock. A padlock button (top-right of the scanner) lets you manually unlock to re-scan. Auto-relock kicks in if the grid drifts off the board.

NEW — Live piece bounding-box overlay
See exactly what the classifier detects, color-coded by piece type, directly on the viewfinder.

### 1.1 — 2026-03-29

What's New in Version 1.1

- Board scanner performance: 96% less memory usage for piece detection — no more crashes on older devices
- Scan from photo library: detect positions from saved photos instead of the live camera
- Tournament chess clock: real-time clock with increment support, synced between both players' devices
- Elimination brackets: visual bracket view for single and double elimination tournaments
- Time control presets: Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Classical with structured base time and increment
- Match lifecycle: start match, accept, press clock, resign, offer draw, and flag on time
- Bug fixes: improved authentication, participant name resolution, and tournament management on iOS

### 1.0 — 2026-03-28
