The app connects me to worldwide knitters, lead by Marie Greene who is a wonderful designer and teacher. Her joyful personality is infectious! I was knitting before I joined, but my knitting has improved by leaps and bounds in these last few years with Marie Greene! there is so much expertise within the Knit Camp group it is really awesome! Any questions, thoughts, shares, are always welcome and lovingly supported by the community! Knit Camp has so many opportunities for learning with tutorials on “all of the things”, KALs, annual knitting challenge projects, virtual retreats, tips and tricks from hundreds of your KC BFFs, the KC support team and of course, Marie! I have learned so much in this group. Marie’s top down sweater patterns are clear and easy to follow, and always include something new for me to learn. I have made sweaters that fit, socks, cables, participated in knit alongs, and so much more. I have knit 10 sweaters, socks, a couple of cowls and shawls. This encouraging community is welcoming to everyone and cheers you on. I’d heard about the KAL but until I retired I felt I didn’t have the time. Wrong! I could have joined sooner. While making my first KAL I hit a couple of snags and reached out for support. Within minutes I had my problem solved. My go-to shop is Village Yarn In Zionsville, Indiana. Katie knew just what I needed and had several suggestions for yarn. Can’t wait for the retreat. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Political site *2025-02-16, version 4.52.2* Unfortunately Knit Camp doesn’t like the outcome of the last election and they are blatantly open to let you know you aren’t welcome here if you don’t have the same political views as them. ### 1/5 — Not accessible to visually impaired *2023-06-29, version 4.15.1* By 2023, every other iOS app has figured out how to enlarge text…except knitcamp. And frustratingly, knitcamp is the only way to see posts and notifications if you’ve paid to be a member of Knit Camp. If you have problems with vision, maybe Olive Knits isn’t for you ### 1/5 — Knit Camp great, App awful *2023-05-27* The app is superficially ok but whoever designed “forgot” about accessibility. While the font on some pages can be made larger, the activity feed is a standard size text. If your vision is poor, you have to take a screenshot and zoom that. Basically it cuts you out of the main purpose of interacting with other knitters. I can only imagine that the app designer is young or not very experienced. Love Marie’s patterns but but not sure I’ll stay in knit camp next time renewal comes around. Paying a lot to NOT participate ### 5/5 — Love the community *2025-02-27* My birthday gift every year is my membership to Knit Camp. I have tried things I never thought I could or would - steeking, sweater surgery, using many different weights of yarn, mosaic knitting, swatching - just to name a few. Our community is always there to cheer me on. They provide so much inspiration. My favorite part of the KALs is seeing the many color combinations.
