## What is Knitamus?

Maybe you're the kind of knitter that always has things in order. You'd love nothing better than to set up each row of a pattern before you even cast on. Or maybe you're the type that dives in with abandon... but would love a lifeline to easily get started again, no matter how long that shawl or hat or intricate baby sweater has been lost in the bottom of your bag.

Either way or somewhere in between, Knitamus is designed for you.

Each Knitamus project can have as many pieces as you need (for sleeves, front, and back, for instance). And each piece has a single counter so you always know which row you're on. Easily display as many PDF pages or chart photos as you need in the special chart window with an adjustable highlight bar that remembers each row. You can quickly page through to set the highlight for every row before you even start, including repeating highlights, or you can just get started and each row will be remembered as you go in case you knit it again. Easily add notes, repeating or not, to any row at any time.

iCloud sync allows you to work on your iPhone when you're out and about, or enjoy the larger space of your iPad when it's available.

The Ravelry connection keeps your photos and project status up-to-date automatically.

The Apple Watch app will display notes and repeat information for current projects found in your iCloud account, or you can use it as a simple counter without iCloud.

I hope you enjoy Knitamus! Please share the love by leaving a review on the App Store and contact me by email with any questions or concerns.

Happy knitting!

### 5/5 — Every Knitter’s Must Have!

*2020-10-22*

Knitamus is a must-have for every knitter I know. It helps me keep track of where I’m at in my project, and the developer has thought of everything!
Charts? ✔️
Repeats? ✔️
Notes? ✔️
Repeating Notes? ✔️
Ravelry Syncing? ✔️
Photos? ✔️
Pattern Storage? ✔️

I’ve used Knitamus for years and the new version looks completely new and modern. If you are struggling to keep track of your repeats, row counts or notes, I can’t recommend Knitamus enough. It is a stable app too, and the developer support is very responsive.

### 5/5 — Love Knitamus

*2020-10-04, version 3.0.1*

I have been using this app for years. It’s great in every way. When Shannon did the update a few days ago I was so excited until I couldn’t figure anything out! I emailed her and she was fantastic in giving me all the support I needed. She even made a video, which helped me. She really cares about the functionality that her app has. Thanks so much 😊

### 5/5 — If you knit, you need this app

*2020-10-04*

Knitamus is a great app which will connect to your Ravelry account and import your projects. You can sync all of your devices by using iCloud syncing which means no matter where you are, you can update your projects.

I create a new project and it appears in Ravelry. I added photos for my project and they appear in Ravelry as well. Keep up with your status and see it on Ravelry. Basically, Knitamus helps me keep up with my projects on Ravelry.

Do you use charts? If you do, Knitamus is the best app for charts. I imported my pattern from Ravelry (open PDF from Ravelry library and then Share to Knitamus), and added the charts to my project. Then I resized the page, so that the charts are the perfect size, and highlighted the row I’m on. The page will lock after a minute to keep you from accidentally moving your location. There is an unlock button that you tap to move to your next row. I love this app for charting.

Does your project have a lot of repeats? Knitamus can help you keep track of them.

I really like Knitamus and recommend it for all knitters. It’s really helped me keep track of my Ravelry projects. Whereas before Knitamus, I would just update Ravelry every few months. Knitamus makes it seamless.

### 3/5 — Great in Theory!

*2018-05-09*

This app is a godsend.... in theory! The chart view is such a great idea... if only I could actually highlight the row of the chart and view it at a glance. I can’t easily move the chart around or see the entire row I’m on. Right now I can only view part of the row and not the full width of it. I can’t for the life of me zoom out, and moving the chart around is very cumbersome- if not impossible. Moving the chart around seems to work 25% of the time and I haven’t figured out what makes it work that quarter of the time. It’s a great row counter but that is a pretty simple functionality and for the cost not really worth it. I do like that my phone won’t lock while using it. If it actually did what it promises to do with the chart view, I’d pay 3x as much for this app! Knitamus would have a gold mine here if it could actually get the app to work as intended. Knitters will pay to have their charts easily accessible and their position saved and highlighted rather than carrying around paper patterns but as it is I still can’t do that with this app. Please keep working to perfect it!!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. What you are describing sounds like the auto-lock feature. When you first change the counter to a new row, the pattern is movable and zoomable so that you can set up the highlight the way you want.

After a few seconds of no action, or if you change the counter again, Knitamus assumes you are satisfied with the highlight location and locks it in. You'll still be able to move the pattern left and right, just not vertically. This is designed to make it easy to follow a long row as you're knitting if it won't fit fully on your screen without being too small to see it.

To the top left of the pattern window you can see a control with a 4-way arrow and a 2-way arrow. When the 4-way arrow is selected, the pattern is unlocked and you can zoom and move it any way you want. When the 2-way arrow is selected, the pattern is locked so that only horizontal scrolling is possible. You can tap on the control to change the current behavior, just be aware that it will always lock again automatically after a bit of time with no changes.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Perfect knitting companion

*2018-03-15*

I absolutely love this app! In the beginning I found it a little tricky to get the hang of but this was probably because I was so used to the functionality of another older knitting app I was using. Once I got a good feel for what to do and where to find everything it has become my best friend! If you do a lot of knitting this app is a must in my opinion. It keeps track of everything you are working on and exactly where you’ve left off. So you fall out of love with a project and don’t bother with it for a few months suddenly you pick it up and have no idea where the heck you are in the pattern, well no worries because this app will remember for you! I also really love the option to link directly to your Ravelry.
Probably an underrated feature is that you can make Ravelry notes and private notes that stay just in the app. Sometimes I want to make a note for instance if I’m making socks and want them to both match but my note can’t be left on Ravelry because it’s a paid for pattern and my note would likely give too much away, this option is perfect for that. Even just for nonsensical notes that only make sense to you.
Anyway my point is you need this app if you are a knitter or crocheter!

### 5/5 — Knitamus has made learning to knit easier

*2017-08-22*

As a relatively new knitter tackling a complex multi piece pattern as my third project ever, Knitamus has been fantastic! I love the integration with Ravely.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2017-04-26, version 2.6.2*

Expensive but of no value . Just a giant counter.

### 2/5 — Latest update completely broke it

*2016-08-12*

I used to love this app, and constantly recommended it to knitting friends. It used to work beautifully. Now, since the last "update" it's buggy, laggy, and constantly crashes. I was 10 rows into a complex cable pattern, and when I hit the counter to move to row 11 it instead wiped my project clean and reset my counter to zero. I set the whole project up again, reset the first 10 rows of the repeat, and once again I advanced to row 11 and the project was wiped. Pretty upset that I paid for an app that's now almost entirely useless. It works sometimes, but it's like playing knitting roulette.

### 1/5 — Waste if money

*2016-01-18*

Doesn't work like advertising. Not sure how it works at all.

### 3/5 — I used to love this app

*2015-07-12*

While it is nice to view multiple pages of a pattern at one time, I wish I could still decrease the row counter and display the corresponding page. I know it seems like a small thing, but if I frog a project I don't want to have to set up the pattern all over again.
Notification about the change in subscription options would have been nice, I'm now halfway through a $20 annual subscription to an app that now costs $10. I know there's upcoming features, but I may not be interested in any of these features and I don't have any idea if these new features for those with subscriptions will even be available after the subscription expires. I want to love this app because I thought it was really amazing when I purchased, and now it's lost a lot of its glitter and has left frustration in its wake.
