### 3/5 — Unreasonable subscription for basic features

*2026-08-14*

I got this app when it first came out and used it constantly. It included everything practical someone would need when knitting or crocheting, and was a great resource all in one app. I came back to the app today and found every single feature hidden behind a $9 a month paywall. I understand having a subscription for more complex features, but they are charging to use the ruler and row counter feature?? That is just completely unreasonable to me and I am disappointed because this truely used to be a great app

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to write this.

Our mission is to help people be creative, and we're trying to build the best knitting experience possible to do that. It takes a team to build and maintain the app and everything around it, so we also have to build a company that can carry it. After trying to make it work for a long period, the free model unfortunately didn't support that, so what we are doing now is working as hard as we can to create the best possible experience for you, and give as much value as possible to make it worth it. That's why we keep improving, adding both features, patterns and other benefits, and we absolutely love feedback on what could be better, and if you are missing anything that would make your knitting life easier.

One thing worth saying: nothing you added has been removed. It's all still on your account, and you can still see what's there. If you'd like the full details back, you can start a trial if you haven't used one already 🧶

### 2/5 — Deletes counters constantly

*2026-07-25*

Well what a shame, I used to love this app but recently my row counters change values! Whats the point in paying (a lot) for that when I can just record it myself. Very disappointed in how this app is getting worse and worse with each update

**Developer response:** Thank you for letting us know, and sorry about the trouble with the counters. That should of course not happen.

This should be fixed now. If you're still experiencing it, we really want you to send us a message at help@knitandnote.com, preferably with a screenshot and a short explanation of how it happened, so we can find that bug and fix it 🧶

### 3/5 — Always crashes

*2026-07-01*

I love this app and it would be almost perfect if you could actually access it. I feel like most of the time I try to use it I get an error. Not great when you’re a paying customer. Also hate the fact that it doesn’t work offline. What about knitting on a plane, going through a tunnel on the train etc.?
Because of this, I have started using a different, free app which works offline and where you can also time your projects. I will not be renewing my premium subscription.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honest feedback. Getting errors as a paying customer is not the experience we want anyone to have. If it's still happening, send a mail to help@knitandnote.com with your device model and we'll troubleshoot it properly with you.

And good news on offline: it's available in the app since the beginning of July. Knitting on a plane or through a tunnel works now 🧶 We work on the app every day, and feedback like yours helps decide what comes first.

### 4/5 — Not enough pattern support.

*2026-05-26*

I started a knit-along using your base sweater pattern but encountered some difficulties. I reached out for assistance, but unfortunately, I didn’t receive much support in resolving my issue, so I will have to frog the project. It's disappointing, as you have some lovely patterns. However, I noticed that there are no crochet patterns available, and some of the patterns I liked are only offered in Norwegian. On a positive note, the app is user-friendly, and the tools in the pattern area are quite good.

**Developer response:** Thank you for such a balanced review, and sorry we didn't get you over the finish line on the sweater. Having to frog a project after reaching out for help is exactly what we want to prevent, so that one stings.

We're working on several improvements to give you more support while reading the pattern and whenever questions come up along the way, so better help is coming! And we'd love to hear what you feel is missing.

On languages: most of our content is already in English, and we're working toward everything we offer being available in English too. Thank you also for the crochet feedback, it's noted 🧶

The Knit&Note team

### 2/5 — Fee based app

*2026-04-30*

Nowhere in the description or App Store coding does it indicate this is a fee for service app. In fact, the conditions are: “Try free for 14 days then from $9/month”

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback.

The line you quote, "Try free for 14 days then from $9/month", is how the app works: everything is free to try for 14 days. After that, it's primarily subscription-based, even though you can have a look around and use a few features for free too. The price and terms are also shown before you confirm the trial.

Our mission is to help people be creative, and the subscription is what makes it possible for a team to keep building the app, the patterns and everything around it. If there's anything that would make it more worth it for you, we'd love to hear it at help@knitandnote.com 🧶

The Knit&Note team

### 2/5 — Zu teuer für den gebotenen Funktionsumfang

*2026-04-08*

**Developer response:** Thank you for the thoughtful feedback, this is exactly the kind we learn the most from.

You're right that the subscription makes the most sense when you use what's included: the patterns, the projects, the stash and the tools together. That's also where we keep adding value, with new features, more patterns and other benefits added continuously, and offline support is now available too.

If there's something specific that would make the price feel right for you, we'd love to hear it at help@knitandnote.com 🧶

### 2/5 — Not worth it as-is

*2026-03-15, version 1.8*

I opted for the paid version and it’s nice when it works, but that’s rare. More often than not my current projects won’t load when I open the app, and the counters never sync across devices.

### 1/5 — Falsely advertised as free with no in app purchases

*2026-03-07*

No in app purchases noted in App Store but the reality is only a fortnight’s free trial and then a hefty monthly fee.

### 2/5 — Not enough crochet

*2026-02-10*

I downloaded the app for crocheting as it is advertised on the App Store for both. Unfortunately this isn’t aimed at crocheters at all. There are only 16 crochet patterns and 6 videos- the rest is knitting only, including the stash and needs section/all feature of the app so is not suitable for me. It’s a shame as I like the layout/ feel of the app. Perhaps I will come back when it is fully functional as advertised. The crochet section feels like an after thought add-on

### 1/5 — Why hide the cost?

*2026-01-30, version 1.8*

Looked interesting. But why waste my time with surveys and emails before you say there’s a cost? Bait and switch.

### 2/5 — Bang not worth the buck

*2026-01-26*

While this is the most aesthetically pleasing knitting companion I’ve seen, it’s just not worth the subscription price. It’s asking a premium price for basic features, many of which are buggy and vague. The store is quite limited, the pattern annotation is equally as limited. There’s not even a basic tutorial within the app to highlight its features and functionality (What does the light bulb even do?!) Pretty app, but $100 annually in this economic climate for a basic app- not worth it.

**Developer response:** Hi, and thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review.

We understand why the price can feel hard to justify if the experience hasn’t met your expectations, especially when parts of the app feel unclear or limited. That’s not the experience we’re aiming for. So we do want to share that a major update is on the way, with significant improvements to performance, stability, and core functionality.

Making the app easier to understand and use from the start is a high priority for us, and any we we love to get feedback on help@knitandnote.com whenever our users has suggestions for improvements. All are read, and we use a lot of the feedback in the improvement of the app 😊

### 1/5 — Says free but it’s not

*2026-01-13, version 1.8*

When downloading it doesn’t say there are in app purchases, but you need a subscription to use it.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2026-01-07, version 1.8*

The KnitCompanion app is a MUCH better option and costs less!

### 1/5 — Useless without paying

*2026-01-06, version 1.8*

I started using this app when it was free in order to keep track of my yarn. Now I can’t make changes without paying $107 a year. Whoever created this app clearly has extremely high self esteem to feel their app is worth that much.

### 3/5 — So much potential

*2026-01-04*

A few recommendations for this app to truly be wonderful. One, the option to buy patterns individually in the app instead of subscribing. Some people just don’t like subscriptions and that should be okay. Second, a button added to all patterns available in the app to request it in another specified language. That way the designer can see how many people want it in specific languages and decide if it’s worth it to publish that version. Right now you can’t communicate with the designers via their patterns at all. Also, in addition to that button, maybe a messenger feature to ask the designer modification questions too. Those things the designers could review and potentially offer feedback or even additional patterns! Okay and then also in the pattern details a section underneath the yarn that says what weight the yarn is. That way we don’t have to look it up every time to see if we have a yarn that would work already. Really loving the potential in this app though. It’s def a much better format than the ravelry website

**Developer response:** Hi, and thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful and concrete suggestions.

We really appreciate you highlighting both what you enjoy and where you see potential. Your ideas around patterns, designer interaction, language availability, and clearer yarn information are all valuable perspectives, and it’s helpful for us to hear how different users think about using the app in practice.

Our focus is on building a coherent, long term solution where patterns, tools, and organization work well together, and feedback like yours gives us important insight into what matters most along the way.

Thanks again for engaging so deeply with the app and for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re glad you see the potential too 😊

### 3/5 — Subscription

*2025-12-25*

I was happily using the free version as a total beginner. I do understand the costs that making and maintaining an app can be, but I think the price is too high for the subscription…it’s sad, I was enjoying having things organized…

**Developer response:** Hi, and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

We completely understand that the price can feel high, especially when you’re just starting out. The subscription is meant to support the app as a whole – ongoing development, improvements, and keeping everything working smoothly together over time.

The subscription also includes benefits on yarn and accessories, which for many users ends up giving a greater value than the cost itself, depending on how they use the app.

We really appreciate that you used the app to stay organized and took the time to leave feedback. It means a lot to us 💛

### 1/5 — Annoyed

*2025-12-21*

You didn’t have to pay for anything but now Most of the good things on there u have to pay money which is unacceptable if u ask me

**Developer response:** Hi, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

We understand that it can feel frustrating when something that used to be free changes. The subscription isn’t about charging for individual features, but about supporting the app as a whole – ongoing development, maintenance, improvements, and keeping everything working smoothly together.

The subscription also includes benefits and discounts on yarn and accessories, which for many users adds real value beyond the app itself.

### 2/5 — Loved it until paywall

*2025-12-09, version 1.8*

I’ve been using this app for over a year now, just the basic free version. Really frustrated that the latest update they decided to change half of the things you had free access to are now be behind a paywall. It feels like a bait and switch.

### 3/5 — Too expensive

*2025-12-05*

I used the basic version for a while and liked it. Now everything useful is behind a pay wall. That sucks!

**Developer response:** Thanks - that's nice to hear 😊

About the ads - we'll keep reviewing those 😉

### 2/5 — Tout est devenu payant

*2025-12-05*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Greedy

*2026-07-19*

I spent days cataloging my yarn stash after having to move it into storage. I loved being able to see what i had on hand without having to dig it out of my basement. After not crocheting for a while, i went to the app to check if I had the yarn needed for an Etsy order. I was asked to log back in and give them my demographic information… then hit with a $100 annual subscription! You guys are insane if you think your target market has enough money to spend $100 on an APP after spending all their extra money on a bunch of yarn! I've never left an app review in my life but i have never been this annoyed and frustrated with an app. Not everybody wants their stuff on the cloud of connected to and email you can spam for your mailing lists. Stop forcing consumers to pay for a subscription for a service they don't need. I saw they replied to another review with, "none of your data has been deleted or taken away. Everything you've added is still safely stored in your account. The change is about access to functionality, not ownership of your information.”
The issue is, you’ve locked my information in a similar manner to RANSOM-WARE. I would’ve loved to have gotten a copy of my yarn stash to store on my OWN physical drives but why would they do that if they can charge their long time users $100? Don’t spend your money on this app, if you want a community go on internet forums or in person events. If you want to track your stash, don’t use a service for a glorified excel spreadsheet. If you’re reading a pattern, use a free PDF viewer.

**Developer response:** We understand this is frustrating, but to be clear on the facts here: nothing has been deleted, and we are definitely not trying to keep anything hostage. Your stash is still on your account and you can still see what's there. If you haven't used a trial, you can start one to see all the details again. If you'd like an export of your data, or you'd rather have your data removed for good, write to help@knitandnote.com and we'll take care of it.

On the bigger point: our mission is to help people be creative, and we're trying to build the best knitting experience possible to do that. To keep doing it we have to build a company that can carry it, and the free model didn't support that. We tried to communicate the change as clearly as we could when it happened, and we do understand it's frustrating when something becomes paid.

What we can promise in return is that we work on this every day, and we take product and improvement feedback with us 🧶

### 1/5 — New update has so many issues

*2026-07-08*

Why is my pattern suddenly cut off?! I updated the app this morning and it lost my highlights on my chart so that was fun… and it’s also cutting off my pattern. It doesn’t matter if I remove the pattern and add it again, it’s still being cute off!! And why can’t i suddenly add decimals in the yarn stash? My yarn is 1.76 oz not 1 oz not 2 oz. 1.76!!! For an app this expensive I would hope things worked properly. I’m so extremely dissatisfied and disappointed at the moment.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the detail. This is exactly the kind of report that helps us 🙏

These were bugs that came right after a big update, which is really annoying, and they should be fixed now. If you're still running into any of it, we'd very much like to hear about it. Send a description and a couple of screenshots to help@knitandnote.com and we'll look at it properly.

The Knit&Note team

### 1/5 — Update is horrible

*2026-07-08, version 2.0.1*

Update doesn’t allow me to add decimals into my calculations weight and length of yarn. My friend also is not able to see the her chart to her pattern half of it is cut off. We both paid for the year and are both disappointed in this update

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2026-06-18*

I’ve tried to sign up and create an account 3 times on 3 different days. Can’t get past the “pick 3 styles you like” stage. Can’t click continue and can’t click on photos.

**Developer response:** Thank you for letting us know, and sorry for the trouble getting started. That's not the first impression we want to give.

A lot has been updated in the app since this, so we'd love for you to try again with the latest version. If you still can't get past that step, send a mail to help@knitandnote.com with your device model, and preferably a screenshot, so we can find exactly what's blocking you and fix it.

The Knit&Note team

### 1/5 — Unnecessary

*2026-06-15, version 1.8*

This is a disappointing App. Not worth what I paid for it. Trying to get a refund!

### 1/5 — Subscription Management

*2026-04-14*

Subscription was not managed under Apple, which is what I would normally track, and they were unable to perform a refund for a few days delay of cancellation (which I never had an issue with other companies before)

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share this.

It's possible to start a subscription through Apple now, but where it's managed depends on whether you started it via Apple or outside Apple, for instance on our website. The renewal terms and date are shown when the subscription is started, and they're the same in both places. We try to be very clear about all of it.

We understand it's frustrating when a cancellation lands just after a renewal has gone through. Thank you for the feedback, we take it with us 🧶

The Knit&Note team

### 1/5 — Impossible to contact them

*2026-04-10*

Having opted in for the trial version of the app, it was the impossible to reach them to cancel my subscription. No response to my emails. Meanwhile, £84 taken
from my account.

…. And still no contact 2 weeks after request to cancel my subscription. At what point does this become a fraudulent organisation?

### 1/5 — No free option

*2026-03-22*

Even with the free trial it forces you to add credit card info….i just wanted to try it first, very irritating to go through the whole set up process just to be told I have to input payment info

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback, and we understand wanting to look around before entering payment details.

The trial gives you full access, free for 14 days, and we send a reminder email before it turns into a paid subscription, so you can try everything and cancel at no cost if it's not for you. It's also possible to keep using a limited version for free. But to keep a whole team working toward the best possible knitting experience, we do need the app to be something people find worth paying for.

We take your input with us, and if there's anything you'd like to see in the app, we'd love to hear it at help@knitandnote.com 🧶

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-03-21, version 1.8*

I’ve been trying to log in and use this app ever since they took $107 from me and it does t work. Says I’m not connected to WiFi and when it does open it says “no pattern’s available “. Would like a
Full refund

### 1/5 — Deceptive

*2026-03-15, version 1.8*

Makes you believe it’s free. And expensive imo.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Speedy delivery

*2025-10-25*

Incredibly fast delivery. From Norway to the west coast of Canada. This project is for me. I’m always knitting for others.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the lovely feedback! We’re really happy to hear that everything arrived quickly and that the project is bringing you joy. Wishing you lots of great knitting moments ahead, and thanks for taking the time to leave a review 😊

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2025-02-14*

I loooove this app! It has so many amazing features (even in the basic free version) and if you love organizing, you’ll love knitting with the app. There are so many great patterns if you pay for the premium version. I think it’s a little expensive measured by how many patterns you’ll actually be able to use within a month (I don’t knit as fast so if I finish one project a month, it’d be 10€ for 1 pattern), but I love the huge selection and being able to plan projects.

**Developer response:** That's amazing to hear 😍

About Premium : we'll keep adding features and other benefits in addition to the pattern access 😊

### 5/5 — Great app for knitting!

*2025-01-08, version 1.4*

Great app! Easy to use and super handy ☺️

### 5/5 — Better than ravelry for tracking/library

*2024-12-28*

Since I don’t only buy patterns on ravelry, I needed a way to keep track of all my purchased patterns. This seems like a good alternative so far. Looking to exploring the other features as time goes by

A few things like tags, a category (like fingering, worsted, etc) and range of gauge for yarn would be helpful. As well as tags/notes on projects

### 5/5 — Perfect for organizing projects

*2024-12-10*

I have just discovered the app a few days ago but am already fascinated by how I could knit without it. I am currently using the free version which helps me as a knitting beginner with organizing all the projects I am planning for next year. I also love the row counter feature and the different tools. Super helpful and exactly what I needed!

**Developer response:** That is so great to hear! 🤩

### 5/5 — Just brilliant

*2024-10-14*

Rarely write reviews but felt compelled to here!
Such a simple app to use and has everything I could possibly need. I’m new to following charts and this made life so much easier! I can highlight the row I’m on while also keeping a row counter on screen so I can keep track of exactly where I am at all times. And every time I open a pattern it takes me back to exactly where I was.
It’s a brilliant place to keep all my patterns in one place and track progress on projects. It’s also very aesthetically pleasing which makes it both simple and genuinely pleasant/enjoyable to use. I have projects on ravelry but it is such an unenjoyable experience to use and navigate that site that I tend to avoid it for keeping track of my own projects.
Definitely recommend downloading!

**Developer response:** Wow - thank you so much for the review 😍

### 5/5 — Timer

*2024-07-21*

I would love to see as timer added to this app. Something that you can log on and log off to get a cumulative total of time spent on a project. Placement near the counters would be ideal.

**Developer response:** Hi, and thanks! That's a cool idea 😊 If you have any other input or requests for helpful or fun features, please send it to help@knitandnote.com and we'll review it an use the insights for our further product development! 🤩

### 5/5 — AMAZING!!!

*2024-05-11*

There’s nothing to say except it is AMAZING

**Developer response:** Aahh- nothing to say except THANKS! We appreciate comments like this so much ❤️

### 5/5 — Bravo

*2024-01-19*

Application très pratique surtout avec l.importation du modèle et les compte rangs multiple. La gestion du stock laine est idéale.

### 5/5 — Ultimate Gadget for knitters

*2024-01-17*

This app changed the whole knitting experience. I know exactly where I am, even if I make a longer pause while knitting on a big project because of my notes and the row counters. I really enjoy working with the app, having everywhere the opportunity to take a look in my stash or my patterns and post my FO’S in the slowly growing community.
I hope, that it will soon be offline available and more possibilities for example raport row counters etc.
