However, there are a lot of online seminars which I’d like to join but they’re on Clubhouse which is not open for registration yet. The app doesn’t give any invite to the service, so if you don’t already have a clubhouse account then you can’t really take advantage of the live seminars which is a real shame! Why restrict such a major feature to a service which the majority of users will not be able to access? Stupid. When clubhouse does open access for new accounts I’ll try the feature out and update this review! ### 4/5 — Good app - could benefit from a sleep timer *2021-01-01, version 3.2.7* Some good knowledge here! But it would be nice to have a sleep timer (like the Kindle App does for audio) or at least be able to disable auto play for the next lesson, so that we can enjoy it in bed without worrying about it carrying on too long. I’ve taken two courses now and the format is so friendly for learning on the go. The quality is top notch and the courses are full of practical advice and insight. I go on long walks and runs regularly and often prefer podcasts and lectures to music, which made Knowable’s audio format great for me. Listening to multiple lessons on-the-go gives me a good overview of the topic and then when I’m back at my desk I can dive into the workbook or the additional materials in the app/website to refresh myself—or obviously replay an episode. The content and resources from just the one course I’ve taken (Launch a Startup) makes me give Knowable 5-stars, although a subscription model or bundle would be preferable over the individually sold courses. The app itself is very easy to use and lessons can be equally accessed online (desktop, etc.). ### 5/5 — If Serial and Udemy has a love child, it’d be Knowable *2020-06-10* Love the audio-first approach to learning. I’m a huge listener of audiobooks and podcasts, and believe the Knowable approach can take a world of academia and mix it with curated content focused for those on-the-go. The Launch a Startup lesson plan was narrated in an excellent format with experts in their respective fields, and the workbooks associated with the lesson plan are massively helpful. It is a bit steep at $50 per class, but the quality is on point. ### 5/5 — You don’t want a podcast, you want knowable. *2020-05-21* Don’t place so much value on lengthy, free podcasts. Knowable exists for those who truly want an education on the startup world. The information is concise, references success stories and comes with recaps plus workbooks. I purchased wanting to be more involved with my startup, not just another employee and now I find myself combating ideas. I’m infused with excitement alongside my founders and I can envision our success now that I have this startup roadmap. Not robust. The handful of courses are from unknowns and are listed under multiple categories making it seem like there are more courses than there actually are. Impossible to get a refund once you pay. However, the app doesn’t work! Whenever I try to open it, it opens, I get the sign-in page, and then it immediately closes. This happened about three weeks ago for the first time, and every time since then I’ve had the same problem. Hoping that someone from Knowable will see this and be able to assist; when that happens, 5 stars! What’s the point if you’re not ready? ### 2/5 — Tech glitch *2025-02-20, version 6.3.3* I just got the 7-day free trial and put in my preferences. The first three lessons that popped up for me did not play. Seems like there is a glitch with this app. ### 2/5 — Won’t let you cancel subscription *2021-10-21* Been trying to cancel my subscription and it won’t let you. Logging in on their website the cancel button is grayed out. Tried to email weeks ago and no one answers. No sign of other ways to contact them. The classes are good if you plan on never canceling your plan. Until then I’m forced to keep paying. ### 2/5 — Narrow, boring content. Decent app *2021-05-06* More of a Dummies Guide to Work than an app for genuine curiosity about the rich tapestry of human ideas and knowledge . The range of subjects on offer is very narrow. A catalogue full of ‘buzz’ topics, self help and the like. There are no interesting courses on sciences, arts, history, music, and the psychology stuff all has a ‘get ahead’/‘career focus. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — App of the future! *2022-08-03, version 6.3.3* It has the best UX on an iPhone! It is unbelievably minimalistic. The UI has character. The topics are in a much better learning format than if you just search a topic on apple podcasts and click on an hour long episode from a random podcaster. I feel like this app is gonna be pretty big as it expands and gets more content. I would love to hear more from Scott Kelly specifically, I could hear a whole course about his missions in space in more detail. ### 5/5 — Knowable is SO LEGIT!!!! *2020-11-17* I downloaded knowable because they’re funded by the best (a16z) and their courses seemed to focus on topics I could get behind. Real topics I struggle with, that can be tackled within a reasonable timeframe... (who wants to think about their paralyzing fear of public speaking for more than a few hours, ami rite?!?). For the nominal cost, the quality of the content of the courses, the authenticity of the teachers, and the fact that I can listen on the go have me truly hooked. Not to mention I can start, stop, dive into all of them or one at a time because a membership unlocks access to all the knowable courses!!! Perfect for my ADHD brain and my sometimes scattered interests in learning new topics.
