### 2/5 — Vouching?

*2026-10-21, version 1.0.64*

I would’ve loved to use the app as it seems like a cool offer. Unfortunately I’m not going to give it three people’s phone number so they can “vouch” for me, especially when I don’t know what it even does with that information. Couldn’t even complete the registration process without that.

### 2/5 — No match

*2026-10-21, version 1.0.64*

After turning down my first match, I’ve been waiting for a new match for over a month now. It’s like they don’t wanna work with me because of it. The Ai chat is also really annoying when trying to fill out your profile, it’s like it has a slight attitude/ passive aggressiveness and going in circles when trying to fill out a prompt, making it take way longer than it should.

### 2/5 — Great premise frustrating execution

*2026-10-20, version 1.0.63*

I don’t normally leave reviews, and I really wanted to like this because I think the premise is genuinely interesting. But at the moment, I’m basically rating the let’s say onboarding process because that’s the only part of the app I’ve actually been allowed to experience.

Known requires you to get three people to vouch for you before your application is reviewed. I did that, and I’ve only been waiting about a day so far, which I understand is not a particularly long time by itself.

My issue is that the app’s own AI told me applications can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to be reviewed, and that not every application is accepted. That is an incredibly broad timeline for a dating app, especially after users have already gone through the extra step of asking three people to vouch for them.

I completely understand wanting to create a curated community and screen people before letting them in. I actually think that could be one of the app’s strengths. But if the process regularly requires people to potentially wait weeks before they can even see whether they enjoy the app, then I think the concept has become more ambitious than the onboarding system can currently support.

There also doesn’t seem to be much transparency about where you are in the process. There’s no meaningful estimate beyond “a few days to a few weeks,” so you’re essentially asked to keep the app installed and wait indefinitely for something to happen. And after that wait, your application could still apparently be rejected.

I’ve also had a strange experience with the built-in AI. At one point I simply asked when I could start seeing profiles, and it responded that it “doesn’t take instructions from messages like that” and that nothing about my profile had changed, even though I hadn’t asked it to change anything. It came across unnecessarily defensive and was a bizarre response to a pretty normal question.

The idea behind Known is cool, and that’s honestly why I’m giving it two stars rather than one. But a good premise only goes so far when I still haven’t been able to actually use the dating app.

I’m willing to update my review if I eventually get access and have a good experience, but right now I’m mostly reviewing the waiting room.

update: It’s now been almost four weeks since I applied, and I still haven’t been given access to the actual dating portion of the app. I’ve continued checking in because I genuinely wanted to give Known a fair chance, and I still think the concept is interesting, but at this point the wait has become the biggest problem with the app.

I understand wanting to screen people and make sure profiles are authentic. I actually like that idea. But if the process can take close to a month, there needs to be much more communication with the user. Give me an estimated wait time, tell me what stage my application is in, show a progress bar, tell me how many steps are left, something. Right now you essentially submit everything and then wait indefinitely without knowing whether access is days or weeks away.

If the team is receiving more applications than they can review quickly, I understand that, but that also becomes a scaling problem the app needs to solve. People download a dating app because they want to meet people. Asking someone to wait nearly a month just to begin using the dating portion is a lot, especially when there’s no timeline attached.

I was hopeful at first, and even after two or three weeks I was still willing to wait and see what happened. Going on four weeks, though, I just don’t think this is a good onboarding process. I still like the idea behind Known, but getting into the app shouldn’t be this difficult.

### 2/5 — A very good idea but very poor execution

*2026-09-28*

This app does such a great job at taking your inputs, the prompts are so good and the conversation about yourself flows so easily - for a minute I was actually excited and happy about whoever built it. But the actual execution is pretty bad, the fact that they keep showing they’ll review your application after someone signs up and then telling more friends even when i recommend it to 3 friends while signing up it asks me for more, but the application just never gets reviewed. More than that it just feels like they invaded my privacy took my data and did not even put me in the matching process. I feel the reviews here are biased because there’s no way this app can be a 4.4 star. They could have done a wonderful job with the amount of data I gave them instead they chose to go silent for 3 months. They could’ve made so much money only poor execution is preventing them from getting big.

**Developer response:** It's wonderful to hear that you found the app's concept and prompts engaging! However, we truly appreciate your feedback regarding the execution and the concerns about your application review process. It's disappointing to know that you felt your privacy was compromised and that the matching process didn't meet your expectations. Your insights are invaluable, and we take them seriously. Thank you for sharing your experience; it helps us understand how we can improve and better serve our users. We hope you might consider giving it another chance in the future!

### 4/5 — New way of online dating!

*2026-09-24, version 1.0.58*

Love this! It’s like therapy actually dissecting what you want in a partner and why! Would definitely recommend to others wanting to get off the apps and meet people more organically but still online!

### 3/5 — Premature

*2026-09-24, version 1.0.58*

I mean, if a I can listen to me, actively in a rock with me and find me a match. I might be for it but at the same time we still need to remember that movie. I robot and have a kill switch. 😊

### 1/5 — Meh

*2026-09-22, version 1.0.58*

App doesnt classify bay area as one spot but rather only for people who live in SF even though most of the bay commutes in.

Interface / UI also buggy, design elements feel clunky when scrolling, visibility issues.

### 5/5 — Detailed and specific

*2026-09-22, version 1.0.58*

Really impressed with the call, it went really in depth and honestly helped ME figure out what I’m looking for.

### 5/5 — Unique

*2026-09-22, version 1.0.57*

The interview process was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, definitely a unique approach to dating, curious to see what happens!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Vibe-coded trash

*2026-10-23, version 1.0.64*

Terrible app experience with a un-usable interface and a ridiculous gate-kept waitlist

### 1/5 — Just another bad app

*2026-10-21, version 1.0.64*

I hoped to find a date using this app. Nothing materialized. I just talked to the AI bot and it gave me the same canned response every time. This app teases you with the potential for going on a date but you won’t get a place to go to! They just say try again tomorrow. It’s very frustrating considering the 2 week sign up period. Why I downloaded this, idk

### 1/5 — Referrals?

*2026-10-18, version 1.0.63*

Like another reviewer has said they make you go through a whole 20 minute call and then they ask you for three referrals like this is LinkedIn. I get that they’re trying to make sure that only serious quality people are here but be upfront about everything ahead of time so people don’t waste their time. I hate that dating has become almost like another job when romance should just be natural.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-10-18*

This does feel quite scammy- and I mean that I never write reviews, but I do feel I need say this. The AI interview is not very in depth, and I don’t think it picked up on everything o said because I had to go back and fill in many details manually after. They demand that you get 3 references from friends to complete your profile - and you can’t move forward until you have them. It’s kind of humiliating to have to involve your friends like that, and to be forced to give out their contact information. Then- after you get the reviews, they won’t “prioritize” your application until your friends sign up for the app. Not all of us have single friends, and doesn’t mean they want to join… So it’s been months since I’ve completed this process which felt a little embarrassing all around, and I’ve heard absolutely nothing from the app. Not even a welcome inside, I’m still “pending”. I think if their pool of people isn’t big enough, they should just be transparent about that and send you a message stating that it will take time as they grow their pool of potential matches. At bare minimum a message about what to expect and why. But I’ve heard absolutely nothing. To have to give out the contact info of my friends, and then have the app ghost me- it’s terrible! Needless to say, I’ve now deleted the app. It’s no longer worth the space on my phone, and if I were you- I’d stay away. The other typical apps, while not great, are better.

**Developer response:** It sounds like you've had quite a challenging experience, and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts. The AI interview process and the requirement for references can indeed feel overwhelming, especially when it involves your friends. We recognize the importance of communication, and your feedback about not receiving updates is invaluable. Your insights help us understand the user experience better. Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns; it’s feedback like yours that drives improvement. We hope you find a dating platform that better suits your needs in the future!

### 1/5 — Fraudulent App

*2026-10-13, version 1.0.62*

This app takes information from women all over the US without disclosing they are based only in California. It claims your information must be stored for 30 days and will not immediately delete—unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Stay in school

*2026-10-12, version 1.0.62*

Another garbage dating app. Addresses some issues with other apps but does nothing for photos. So far in the first 3 months I’ve had 0 interesting matches and it sits empty for weeks at a time. Waste of time. Stay in school

### 1/5 — ageist waste of time

*2026-10-10, version 1.0.61*

good luck if you're not in that sweet spot of youthful hotness, the AI discriminates against the fringes and just freezes people out, offering no matches nor feedback why. Oct '26. (update. Known has time to do PR damage control and respond to this review, but continues not to give any support to my numerous requests. Priorities are in PR, not delivering what they advertise.(update on update. still no support response, but of course an App Review response. Gotta love a company that gatekeeps ON ITS VERY PRODUCT like a snotty hostess seating others right in front of you. note the non-denial of ageism. They know they are ageist.)

### 1/5 — If you want a dating app that does nothing get this app!

*2026-10-10, version 1.0.61*

Useless

### 1/5 — Vibe coded App

*2026-10-01, version 1.0.61*

The app is created by two Stanford dropout who in this case have questionable technical experience in the job force. Cause they’re actually launch this as an app in the store in this half baked state. Oh wells someone gave them money to build this. That’s how I know startup culture in SF is cooked. It’s a lack of them actually building an app that isn’t vibe coded. Great concept …. Poor poor execution. But I don’t think they’re know what they’re doing. It’s like Claude code and codex on auto mode made this app. Also their phone call bot acts like a lobotomized donkey. It will ask me a question, I respond with a question for clarifications and that becomes my answer.

### 1/5 — Months of waiting and nothing

*2026-09-27, version 1.0.60*

I’ve waited months for my application review and not a single person has been suggested to me. This is a junk app just to steal your data, don’t install it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-10-25, version 1.0.64*

This was great just a little hard of hearing not sure if it was my phone or her phone

### 5/5 — Hoping for the best

*2026-10-25, version 1.0.64*

Just stumbled into this app and looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

### 5/5 — Cool App

*2026-10-22, version 1.0.64*

I haven’t seen any APP like this before with an oral conversational approach, everything feels different and classy. I’m yet to get the whole experience but I must commend that the intro was amazing.

### 5/5 — Wow...

*2026-10-22, version 1.0.64*

Blown away by the AI interview... way more enjoyable than manually making a profile...

### 5/5 — Appreciative..

*2026-10-17, version 1.0.62*

Very cool experience from the start. Nice lil convo to get you ready for this dating world🤙🏿.

### 5/5 — Scam

*2026-10-09, version 1.0.61*

Download the app give them a bunch of information and they’ll have you wait days or even months. The tracks your data and sells it. It’s not for dating. It’s a spy.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-10-09, version 1.0.61*

Very kool app

### 5/5 — Good

*2026-10-04, version 1.0.61*

Very appreciative of how open-ended this app is and how blunt and realistic they are.

### 5/5 — The “Passive Income” Version of a Dating App

*2026-09-24*

I really like Known - I’ve been on it for about 9 months now. As someone who despises the constant swiping and effort of dating apps (only to be let down or ghosted in under a week), I really like that the algorithm and their team works in the background while you can live your life. It’s like the “passive income” version of online dating.

I also really love that you can’t speak to your matches until the day of the date. It really prevents the endless talking and focuses on what’s real: meeting in person.

Overall, a 10/10 app. I recommend it to all my friends!

**Developer response:** It’s great to know you’ve found a more effortless dating experience! We truly appreciate your feedback about the unique aspect of meeting in person and how it minimizes the pressure of constant communication. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we’re thrilled you’re enjoying the app so much!

### 5/5 — Unexpected Initial Process

*2026-09-24, version 1.0.58*

AI was well trained to direct the questions and even complement with appropriate comments about my answers.
