Whether you're traveling for leisure or business, our eSIM provides reliable, high-speed internet without the hassle of swapping physical SIM cards.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical SIM. Built directly into smartphones and tablets, an eSIM functions just like a physical SIM card but is entirely digital, making it easier to switch carriers, manage multiple plans, and eliminate the hassle of handling small, physical SIM cards.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I install my eSIM?

To ensure a smooth setup process, we recommend installing your eSIM just before your departure, as installation requires a stable Internet connection. However, if you prefer, you can wait until you arrive in the country to activate your eSIM using WIFI. Once your eSIM is installed, you have the option to turn it off. Activation of the package only occurs when you use your eSIM in the country/region where it is eligible for connection. When you land, simply turn on your eSIM, set roaming to “on” and enjoy being connected.

- Cannot log in with the old account
- The physical card seems to expire soon
- The phone number is important to me
- Since announcement of sunset of physical SIM cards Knowroaming app cannot let you access your account
- You cannot access online through a browser
- They also won’t move any credits over to an eSIM
- Very complicated
- Wish to have face recognition
- I can’t log in with older accounts
- I used their sticker sim product
- KnowRoaming decided to phase it out but does not offer to transfer credit to their new product
- Not a company you should trust
- Lots of alternatives out there
- Do not use
- 之前的实体卡登录不进去了
- 也不能重置密码
- 账户彻底被删除了
- 不知道实体卡能用多久
- 我日
- If you had a physical SIM with this app, this app now no longer works
- Can’t login
- Can’t reset password
- Complete rug pull by this company
- All prepaid credit and unused data packages will expire nine (9) months after the last prepaid credit purchase
- You would expect a longer expiry from a travel sim but they just wiped out all of my credits
- Just go with someone else
- 一直提示错误
- 网络错误
- This app is missing one of the main reasons for downloading it - there is no total!
- It lists each time data was used, and how much each time, but doesn’t give a total used/remaining!
- Hopefully this gets fixed soon
- Support told me that it doesn’t work with eSim but it does
- They can give the total usage at any time if needed, but that makes work for them and us!
- It also shows ‘No active data plan’ when clearly there is one
- I’m also baffled that the website and app need separate registrations, and that we don’t always get a confirmation email after purchase
- Without that, with the serial number, you can’t use the app, unless you thought to take a screenshot
- We have always found their per-minute rates quite acceptable
- When both our roaming phone numbers expired due to non-use during Covid the support team responded to an email within minutes and had us set up with new numbers just a few more minutes later
- I’m impressed
- We have used the service in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Spain, Italy, France
- Works well for us
- I use 2 sims in my iPhone
- Every other travel sim or local sim from other countries work fine but not this one
- It makes the iPhone network cut out all the time
- Slow connection on main sim when the KnowRoaming profile is installed,... and so many other little things make this too much of a hassle
- No thanks
- Quite cool but network drops 10 mins sometimes
- Close to days then you’ll have no network yet you’ll be charged so disappointed
- They told me their esim supports a cellular network which it does not
- Now I wasted my money and have no coverage
- Beware of them!
- The app could have a way for us to receive SMS and text messages inside the app for the phone number we’ve got
- I don’t think this Sim Card service is valuable, just full of charges, expensive service and no messaging services
- Once you are out of your region, you can’t get service or receive messages, then why pay for it?
- I am very disappointed and I wish all my money could be reimbursed, because this app is just propaganda
- This app makes traveling much easier except the annoying activation process (which takes forever.)
- The home page of this app seems like a proper 2020 Apple app…but when you want to check your plan or load funds into your account… it looks and feels like a 1999 app all of sudden
- They are so obscure and I have no dam idea what should I do...And, WTH does load balance mean??
- Is it even a correct grammar??
- Be careful, they are stealing money from your account!!!
- I purchased package global UNLIMITED FOR 1 day
- After few hours they cancelled package and drain all credit that left on account
- When i asked support, simple explanation was that i used too much internet and they canceled it
- Total disaster, so be very careful
- I would choose 0 stars but it’s not possible so i have to choose 1. :)
- I have never been able to get this app to work without endless calls to Tech Support who tweaks settings from afar
- And even then it is clunky and not reliable
- Never again
- The two stars is because Tech Support tries, if you can reach them, which is not automatic, since half the time the app doesn’t even work once you are abroad
- It doesn’t work
- It has way too many steps to follow and it just doesn’t work
- The so called 24/7 WhatsApp support is unresponsive
- I travel all over the world and my Know Roaming sim has become my saving grace
- As you’ll read in other reviews, the payment system and interface definitely leaves a lot to be desired as it can be misleading and confusing, however, once you get your head around how the service works, it’s a breeze to use
- Definitely recommend for anyone regularly travelling between countries, just be prepared to spend some time learning the interface and understanding the payment system before you start using data!
- In principle, their product is a great deal and a cool concept
- In action, it took HOURS after landing in NewYork for the SIM to be recognized
- After 1 day, 17$ dollars disappeared from my account because no package kicked in
- Service was basically not working for the following days because « location not recognized »
- I ended up buying a T-Mobile travelers SIM, which I should have done in the first place
- Don’t waste your money on this service
- First trip I used it on was fine but every trip since then I waste so much time with technical support
- The voice calling never works
- The ReachMe forward service never works
- Many many people have posted reviews how technical support says they are working on a case but months later it is still not resolved
- It’s not much use if after several weeks your phone still doesn’t work and people can’t reach you or you can’t reach them
- Just get a local SIM or try Apple’s e-sim
- I’ve used KnowRoaming for data in several countries
- At first we had some fails, but I’ve learned to plan ahead and contact customer support in advance, or upon arrival
- With a little communication and instruction from customer support (who are quickly responsive) I’ve been able to work through any issues
- However I think you need to be a tech comfortable user to do what is asked
- I still use them because I’ve worked out how to do some of the configuration (outside of the app) and for me that ends up easier (and cheaper) than purchasing a local SIM
- Plus WhatsApp is free within 30 days of a balance top-up
- I bought the SIM sticker for a trip to the US
- First I waited several weeks for my delivery and it was getting down to mere days before departure, only to be told that due to “error”, it hadn’t even been shipped yet
- They sent it on priority and included a bonus unlimited data package
- It’s too bad I couldn’t use a single thing I ordered because their app wouldn’t accept the serial number to activate the sticker, no matter what I tried
- I ended up binning it and just buying a SIM in the States
- When I came home and told them about it, they criticized me for not contacting support as soon as there was a problem (how was I going to do that with no service?) and refused to issue a refund as the package had been opened
- What a rip-off
- This is my second time that, I have used KnowRoaming as my roaming solution
- I use their sticker product and it is very convenient
- I can’t even register an account, not able to go past the second sign up screen on the iPad
- Unfortunately, this app and service fail on multiple levels
- The app is extremely crashy, and also requires the installation of a profile (for reasons that aren’t explained) that may let the company monitor your network traffic
- Why?!
- I’ve only tried the service in Mexico on TELCEL so far, and it’s just not good
- Spotty quality if reception can be had at all, and no LTE, only 3G
- The problem isn’t Telcel
- Roaming using my own carrier’s SIM works just fine on LTE
- It’s not as cheap as Know, but it actually works
- Also be warned that the minimum recharge amount is $25, so even though service is only $4 a day, it ends up being a very expensive lesson to learn
- I used the app during my recent trip to Europe and am not exactly trilled
- The idea is great, but it doesn’t quite work as it is supposed to
- It did connect to the new country’s network many times, but then it wouldn’t on many other times
- I’ve restarted my phone countless times
- Their data is quite expensive and in my case went on getting sucked up by something until I had to purchase more
- I couldn’t figure out where that data was going (I’m an experienced user, have spent many months in South America tracking every bit of data, using different provider)
- In way too many cases the phone connection wouldn’t work both ways and that was the reason to go with this service in the first place
- If I wanted mobile data only there’s much better options out there
- And on the top of it, they kept charging me for the forwarding number long after I came back home
- As others have pointed out they do seem to be sneaky about their charges
- Ah, and going back to the home network was a hassle too
- Thought at some point will have to go and buy a new SIM card...
- I don’t think I’ll be using that service again
- Not recommended
- Absolute fraudsters
- You can't purchase a data package until you first add credit to your account
- Even if you just want a 1-day $7.99 data package you must first purchase a minimum $25 of credit
- To add insult to injury all credit expires after just 9 months with zero warning
- Buy a local SIM instead
- Make sure you are connected to WiFi while you are setting up the SIM, or you'll quickly find your credit evaporate
- The reason being...
- You can't simply buy a data package with your credit card
- You must first add your card details & then add credit to your account (in $25, $50, $75, $100 or $150 blocks)
- So if you want to buy an $80 roaming package you have no option but to add $100 of credit to your account
- That's just annoying, but this is frustrating...
- The second you add credit to your account KnowRoaming by default puts you onto Pay As You Go, thus begins deducting credit because the app itself is consuming data
- My $150 top up was reduced $148.20 literally within 10 seconds of adding credit
- I switched data off at this point & found a WiFi hotspot but I would estimate if I remained on cellular it would have cost at least $5 simply to purchase a data package
- Not happy so far
- Will update review in due course
- I’ve been using knowroaming for nearly a year now travelling around the world
- It’s got some conveniences, but the data prices are steep, and if you’re entering new countries connecting was a major issue
- I had to essentially call support every time I arrived in a new location
- The service was helpful, but it was usually at least 24-48 hours before I got data in a new country
- The company is great in concept, but this really defeats the purpose and so can’t really recommend them
- Buy a local SIM card instead
- Know roaming was great when it provided you with free WhatsApp
- I found myself using the roaming SIM quite often
- But now that they took that away and only give 30 days of it every time you reload the card I figure why bother
- I’m better off just getting a SIM in the country I’m visiting
- Their app doesn't connect and will charge you for pay per use data TRYING TO CONNECT to the already purchased a plan
- Makes total sense
- They use their own data to activate an unlimited data plan that won't connect unless connected to data go figure
- Great job guys
- (Sarcasm)
- These bastards are sneaky !
- Firstly I bought 2 sims to use the free whatsapp and after 2 months they change the policy and now they required to buy 25$ credit for 30 days of free whatsapp !
- Moreover the app doesn’t work well !
- Calls always cutting : really poor quality !
- It’s complicate to use !
- It’s bugging most of the time so I have to relaunched the app 2-3 times to make it right
- The rate are completely overpriced !!
- I only bought sims card for free whatsapp and since the new policy ... completely useless !
- Waste of money at all !!
- The company has many drawbacks
- 1) their unlimited data is not unlimited and you will be throttled after very small data usage
- 2) they stop allowing unlimited whatsapp usage
- 3) they are sneaky and do not tell you that you can buy packages on the website,
- The app is deceiving where you can only reload certain amounts in large increments
- 4) the speeds can be horribly slow and the pricing is expensive for what is offered
- I would honestly stay away from them
- When they whatsapp for free it was great but now its a different story
- Use wifi and save money
- It is used in several Eu countries, UK and the GCC
- Very excellent and superb customer service
- Only the interface problem in Andorra is not working
- We need update for iPhone X
- Thank you for konwromaing team
- The rates are not amazing but acceptable
- You can get a temporary local number anywhere you travel, still receive calls on home number and the service can bypass the great firewall of China!
- What’s not to like?
- I travelled through England, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, and Hungary over the course of a few weeks and rarely encountered problems at all
- And the problems I did encounter were completely expected
- For example, on New Years in a densely populated urban space, I had trouble getting decent internet speeds until I moved away from the area of activity, which isn’t uncommon
- I’m not sure what everyone else here is dealing with or expecting, but I think it’s doing what it should be
- It worked well for me
- Not able to enter password or paste password in properly as text box doesn’t appear or slide up when your typing
- Needs a refresh
- I wanted this app to work!
- We used it first in Toronto
- After 45 min on help line there was no way to make it work
- I used it in Bangkok
- Again, it took 30 min on a help line to make one phone call to USA
- Never worked again
- Tried it in London and ended up buying a local SIM card
- Needed it unexpectedly in Budapest and could never make it engage
- Don’t waste any more time on this app
- Most networks are 3G, at best
- But the headaches to use this service are huge
- I got the sticker SIM card and it is so problematic I tore it off and threw it away
- That they expect you to call or email them when you have a problem is not a good solution if you have no data service because the product does not work
- They also have quite a bit of attitude when you contact them for help
- I can’t imagine non-tech users being happy with this service
- Love this service
- Great rates and top shelf customer service
- If you travel you need this
- While my initial experience with KnowRoaming was positive, I have to say that the quality of the network service I received on my last and current trip abroad has been extremely poor
- If KnowRoaming cannot ensure that network services work in a given destination it should be removed from the list of supported destinations
- Even after following the recommendations of their support staff, I found network services to essentially be unusable
- I recommend that users think twice before using KnowRoaming
- Instead I would recommend that travelers either purchase a local SIM card (best option) or roam using their network provider
- Do not waste your money relying on KnowRoaming
- Landed in Newark terminal, app kept prompting "no network connection" though AT&T was displayed on home screen
- 20 min of trying to install data roaming profile led to failure and my purchase of a roaming package offered by my home provider
- They know how to make roaming easy and inexpensive
- Don't waste your time with this product
- While the concept of this app is brilliant, the execution is far from it
- I've used it in Costa Rica and Hawaii with mixed results
- Switching from KnowRoaming sim to Home sim and visa versa is always a hassle needing multiple attempts
- On a recent trip to New York City this app was a complete fail
- Constantly dropping data coverage to the point I just gave up
- App should be called NoRoaming........
- I'll be returning to using the roaming available from my carrier
- Don't waste your money here people! 😤
- I constantly have issues
- Every country I visit I have to contact support to get them to tell me which carrier to use
- They should put a list of supported carriers for each country they support
- Other times it takes a few hours to get working and just recently I could reload credits on it and it wasn't reporting usage
- If it want for the excessive charges on my carrier at home I would never use this
- Prepare to email support often!
- This app supports several KnowRoaming cell phone travel products, including "global" phone SIM cards which may be used in many countries (without buying individual SIMs for each country visited)
- The Global SIM card is easy to install, and, in combination with this app, works very well
- The app's designers have worked hard to keep the user interface clear and simple, and it was easy to get started using in-app instructions, a tutorial, and on-web "help" resources
- The Global SIMM comes with a very handy instruction sheet and even a SIM card removal pin
- Unfortunately, it's still a bit "complicated" to engage the service when traveing abroad, and to "disengage" it when returning home
- That's because there are several distinct "systems" working together to give KnowRoaming its functionality
- For example: SMS text messaging doesn't work in KnowRoaming, BUT, KnowRoaming automatically allows 100% free use of What'sApp, for texts, phone calls and video calls
- So as long as you remember not to use your customary texting app, and switch to What'sApp when you're using KnowRoaming, it's fine,
- Likewise, although KnowRoaming gives users "free" U.S. and U.K. domestic phone numbers, AND allows/facilitates in-app purchase of local phone numbers for eaxh country... it's not possible to accept calls on BOTH of those numbers when abroad
- Turning this system "on" (when traveling) and "off" (when at home) is not at all intuitive, but it works!
- Bottom line: This product works extremely well, saves money (compared to pay-as-you-go data subscriptions) and provides local phone numbers... it requires a bit of study to be sure users are taking advantage of what the app offers
- Used the sim sticker in Iceland for whatsapp, works amazing!
- However the data speed is a bit slow at 3G
- Love knowroaming!
- Works really well and their support is excellent
- This is a great way to save money and stick it to wireless companies with their sky high wireless roaming fees
- I travel for a living and I've been using the service since last September
- There was some minor issues at first and sometimes it takes several minutes for the chip to pickup a network but once it gets going it's awesome
- I personally like their unlimited data packages especially in foreign countries where wifi may not be readily available
- Also, they partnered with WhatsApp and you can use their service for free anywhere in the world
- Sim works on and off but the support team is responsive and helpful
- These KnowRoaming people know what they're doing!
- You get their sim sticker and it's like you've got a local Cell phone in any country you visit
- Magic!
- Fantastic support by phone, too
- (The problem was all mine but they figured it out and didn't make me feel dumb about it. )
- I also use their international long distance when I'm home
- Totally seamless
- Definitely good, but still buggy when it comes to switching between home and abroad, and vice versa
- The app also seems to lock up when activating a data package
- This worked great for me on a recent trip to Canada and the US...
- Wish it was slightly cheaper but still just about worth it for unlimited data...
- Contrary to a previous review, you can actually disable it if you want to...
- My only slightly tricky moment was reactivating data on my home network once back in the UK - in the end had to delete the KnowRoaming profile...
- Got the KnowRoaming sticker a few weeks ago
- Have already used it in U.S., Bermuda, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Peru
- Latin America has great connectivity in the cities and the packages are well worth it
- I have a VoIP service app for my US number and it works perfectly over the 3G service I get with KnowRoaming so I haven't used the call function yet
- I've had no big problems switching between countries; sometimes I have to reset the phone, but no big deal
- Sometimes I have to reset the app before the package starts working and it always takes a few cents off my load so I can log in and activate the package; that doesn't seem very fair haha..
- Otherwise, this is one of the best inventions I've seen for someone like me who travels constantly
- Yes, $8 a day is a little much in some of the countries, but for no hassle/no registration/finding a mobile phone shop in every country, it simply can't be beat and is well worth it; also cheaper than most or all of the "Global Sim Cards" out there
- I still have one for the few countries KnowRoaming doesn't support, but this is my go-to from now on
- Bravo
- Expensive rates
- Was a waiste of the money to buy the card and to fill with credit
- Traveled to multiple countries and not one fair rate
- The app locked my phone so I couldn't receive calls on my number
- Not sure how they are in business
- Don't support this company
- Have given this thing so many chances and blown so much money
- First trip data took forever to add then text and calling did not work
- Next trip every time I went to the page to add a data package it crashed
- Wasted $10 just trying to set it up
- This is such a waste of money and time
- Customer service is also no help
- Probably easier and cheaper to just pay regular carrier fees at this point
- I've used it on several trips and it seem to install differently each time when switching to/from home and roaming
- Very confusing and the help files are practically useless
- Text messages to your phone number will not work with this app
- My last trip didn't go well as I couldn't receive incoming phone calls
- When I returned home my data wouldn't work and my voicemail was diverted to some service in Arabic
- (July 2015)
- Another trip to the US and again no end of problems
- Certificates don't install without multiple try's
- Keeps loosing connection to Knowroaming
- Data to default T-Mobile doesn't work despite tech support saying I'm connected ( showed 200k transferred so connected but so slow nothing loads)
- Text messages do not often work
- Last text to Knowroaming worked, but after a couple of hours now they don't - show as not delivered
- The call to tech support wouldn't allow me to leave a message after hitting 5 (as per the prompt) and waited 12 minutes for them to pick up (then the tech said no calls were waiting... so their own phones don't even seem to work
- They walked me through setup to connect with AT&T and now data works
- Given you need an unlocked phone, maybe a local SIM is a better idea and pay the roaming to download texts once a day, and use Skype to check voicemail
- It just isn't worth the frustration of needing to phone tech support, waiting on hold, having them fix it, then a few hours later it doesn't work again
- Overall very disappointed
- I used it in France in May 2015 and it worked fine once setup
- But, forget the US as very unreliable
- Update April 2016 in Beijing and Shanghai
- It worked well for phone calls to North America but couldn't call numbers in China
- But, I didn't receive any calls so wonder if it worked at all
- It worked reasonably well for data, only loosing connection occasionally
- Rates are expensive in China!
- Update May 2026 in Amsterdam
- Data works so infrequently you may as well forget it
- I would like to know why data doesn't work so often
- Isn't there something that an be done?
- No way to disable KnowRoaming is a deal breaker for me
- With cheap data roaming in EU these days I want to be able to disable the automatic switching
- Purchasing and installing the product on my unlocked iPhone was quite simple and took just a few minutes
- My first trip was in the US and didn't work quite as seamlessly as it should
- The Reachme function required some tech intervention but KnowRoaming were very responsive and solved the problem
- My only complaint is that texting with the US number is not yet supported
- Get that fixed and 5 stars....
- Used for voice and data coverage in Croatia and Italy
- Data worked well in both countries
- Voice worked sometimes
- Two Issues:
- 1. Had experienced issues making calls within Italy .. data worked, I was able to make a single call from Italy to Croatia but next day I wasn't able to make simple local calls within Italy
- Kept getting a message along the lines “This call can not be completed while the call baring service is in place”
- 2. Voice provider in Italy was Orange Israel, this company was subject to many controversies and I would had thought twice about choosing Know Roaming if I knew it
- It will also make parts of your iPhone setting menu appear in Hebrew, but for this part is not really a problem
- Just keep the phone upside down and keep reading left to right :) - ok that is a joke, but only few menu items were affected did not prevent me from using the phone
- Needs to be updated to support the new iPhones resolutions
- Works well if you follow the instructions
- The app guides you through what needs to be done when arriving abroad and returning home
- Only negative for me is that this is a Canadian company and charging in USD
- There is no telephone contact number anywhere to be find if you need to contact the supporting team, very frustrating to get help
- System alway over ride the Wi-Fi, so you need to continues to use the paid system
- Does not give the user the flexibility to cancel or remove from the system
- It may sound cheaper for telecommunication needs but actually it cost more when the KnowRoaming system override the free Wi-Fi
- I would give it a 0 from worst to excellent
- I've just returned from my first trip with KnowRaoming installed
- The overall performance and economy of the system was excellent
- I had two minor issues: an APN problem associated with my recent upgrade to iOS 9 and a displayed call charge error (actual charges and balance were correct)
- My e-mail requests for support received immediate responses with full, timely (and simple) solutions to my issues
- The KnowRoaming system works very well for me and is the best available solution to my multi-national travel patterns
- Crashes on IOS 7.0.6
- I'm trying use this app and the sticker For long time ..
- Both them services is not work
- Rich me ... All this forward call
- Not work , you can't get phone
- Call maybe ring , but try to Answer :(
- The Internet is very slow and not Really relabel ...
- Now I'm waiting for refund .. On top up I have done on my account ...
- Good idea , but that's it
- This system has a great deal of potential, and when it works it's excellent
- That said, here are the downsides I've seen:
- 1) Occasionally, especially when moving from country to country, you need to delete the app, and all the profiles associated with service, and manually switch to your home SIM in order to re-establish connectivity with your home SIM, or even WIFI
- This has happened to me a few times
- You must delete the profiles otherwise you might connect to Home Network or WIFI but data will not work
- 2) Voice quality is usually poor and in the top end passable but never excellent
- 3) You cannot tether or use personal hot spot functions, meaning you can't take advantage of the service as a modem for your tablet or notebook
- I can understand that they want to limit data usage but should at least allow this through direct tether
- 4) As others have mentioned this is not a service for non-technical people
- It has challenged me (mobile data professional) and I would consider myself an advanced user
- So, if you are not tech savvy give this one a miss for now
- The savings you get from using the service are excellent
- When it works, it works well
- I am eager to see a more polished solution
- If the kinks are ironed out I'd definitely consider using it on a permanent basis
- I’ve saved a fortune on my roaming
- But not because of Knowroaming but because I ended up with No Roaming, and no service from Knowroaming
- The need for this is clear, but don’t confuse the need with a solution - Knowroaming is pre pre beta still and Apple should not allow this app on its platform
- KnowRoaming has saved me a bundle when travelling, especially to multiple countries or for short trips
- My only request would be to update the app to scale properly on iPhone 6/6+
- I give this a 3/5 only because the ideals great but they charge USD to fellow Canadians as well, also as we all know the USD is currently higher then the CAD
- Still a huge saving if your going abroad but still wrong to charge Canadians USD
- Useless!!
- Cumbersome to get going and even worse on performance
- Had to manually peel of sticker on sim to get back in contact
- Do not use!!!
- I have been waiting for something like this to come out for ages
- I'm so happy that I can finally roam freely and affordably
- I have T-Mobile in the USA and I purchased this specifically to use domestically when I travel in areas T-Mobile doesn't have coverage
- The data is $8 a day for unlimited, that's a great deal!
- Stay connected while traveling with calling, data and texts
- Much simpler and more convenient than sim swopping on arrival
- Contactable on your home numbers with the ability to buy additional numbers in countries that you travel
- You can also monitor your usage of your calls/data in real time
- Saving a fortune on roaming costs!
- I'm not sure why this app was launched if there isn't SIM stickers available
- Without one you can't register
